PDHPE teaches vital social and mental skills that students need throughout their schooling and later life, such as encouraging understanding of self and others, promoting physical activity, and emphasizing informed decision making. The subject is important because it educates children on healthy lifestyles and informed decisions regarding health, physical activity, and drug safety so they can lead happier lives with improved quality and less sickness. The teacher believes their role is to teach this important health information to students in an engaging way through games and fun activities so the students want to learn and understand what is being taught.

1. Why teach PDHPE
In my opinion the importance of Pdhpe as a
subject goes much further than learning any
physical skill or reaching any sort of academic
goal.
Pdhpe teaches kids vital social and mental skills
which they will need throughout their schooling
as well as later life.

2. As far as the board of studies in concerned
PDHPE:
- Encourages an understanding and valuing of
self and others
- Promotes physical activity
- Emphasizes informed decision making leading
to effective and responsible action

3. It is important to teach kids all the aspects of
health, the syllabus states that “The rseultant,
good health is characterized by imporved quality
of life, less sickness and disability, happier
personal, family and social experiences and the
opportunity to make choices in work and
recreation.”

4. Why I teach PDHPE
I believe that is important to teach children the
important information that they need in order
to make informed decisions regarding health
whether it be about healthy eating, physical
activity or drug safety. If I can educate my
students on what a healthy lifestyle is and what
it takes to be healthy I will have done my job as
their teacher.

5. If I can educate my students in an engaging way
through games and other fun activities hopefully
they will be more likely to understand what I am
trying to explain to them. After all if school isn’t
fun what year 5 student would want to go…
