IDEA DEVELOPMENT INITIAL IDEA -A white wall with installations where users get to interact with the board to write or draw what ever the wish like doing. -the device used by the user would be an LED but placed in a spray can so that the application looks more interesting. -Wii mode detects their LED spray and interaction happens -Selection of anything in the white board by the user will be sent to the pc and the projected on the wall DEVELOPED IDEA - make an installation that the user is free to write anything they want and then it will be projected on the Malaysian parliament building. The message will be mapped on the building.
CONTEXTUAL STUDIES Malaysia, one of the 'Asian tiger' economies, has enjoyed remarkable growth over the last few decades, with industrialization, agriculture and tourism playing leading roles in this success story. But today, despite a relatively positive environmental record, Malaysia faces problems of deforestation, pollution of inland and marine waters, soil and coastal erosion, overfishing and coral reef destruction, along with air pollution, water pollution and the problem of waste disposal. Deforestation Oil palm plantations are a prevalent feature of the Malaysian landscape, as this industry has become a major contributor to the country’s export earnings. The increase in palm oil production has been driven by strong global demand for oils and fats, notably from Europe and China. However, this expansion of land for oil palm cultivation has taken place at the expense of lowland tropical forests, which are ecologically sensitive habitats.
CONTEXTUAL STUDIES Pollution Malaysia has enjoyed one of the least polluted urban environments in Asia. However, with the massive industrial development of recent years, and an increase in urbanization and vehicle use, air and water pollution are of growing concern. Energy Efficiency The overall energy demand is expected to increase at an average rate of 6.3 percent per annum, during the period of the Government’s 9th Malaysia Plan. Implementation of energy efficiency programmes focusing on energy saving features in the commercial and industrial sectors are supported by financial and fiscal incentives. The Government will encourage efficient lightning, air conditioning systems as well as changing energy usage patterns and appliance labelling measures. Following up on this demand-side-management the Government raised the tariffs on electricity in July 2008 in order to ensure optimal and efficient use of energy. Renewable Energy Within renewable energy the focus is on better utilization of biomass resources, for example from the palm oil industry. In coming years also production of ethanol from palm oil side-production is expected to develop. Malaysia holds a large unexploited potential within this area. The Government has set up incentives to encourage the promotion, development and utilization of renewable energy (i.e., solar, wind and biomass resources by waste products from the palm oil and wood industry as well as rice husk).
CONTEXTUAL STUDIES Water and Wastewater The domestic and industrial water demand in Malaysia is expected to triple over the next 50 years and based on estimated doubling of the per capita water consumption by 2020 it is predicted that water shortages will occur within the next 5 years. Currently more than 95% of the urban and 85% of the rural population are served by piped water of which 45.746 km are Asbestos Pipes. During the 9th Malaysia Plan the Government plans to replace about 18.000 km of these pipes. Sewerage systems will continue to be expanded to ensure the quality of effluent discharged into receiving water bodies comply with environmental standard and safeguard public health. A sum of USD 0.45 billion is allocated for the implementation of environmental preservation projects and general water resource management Solid Waste Management Due to growing population and increasing consumption, Malaysia generates waste at 19,100 tons per day. In Kuala Lumpur waste generation is about 3,000 tons a day and forecasts shows that this will increase each year. Acid rain - characterized as containing harmful levels of sulfur dioxide or nitrogen oxide; acid rain is damaging and potentially deadly to the earth's fragile ecosystems; acidity is measured using the pH scale where 7 is neutral, values greater than 7 are considered alkaline, and values below 5.6 are considered acid precipitation; note - a pH of 2.4 (the acidity of vinegar) has been measured in rainfall in New England Afforestation - converting a bare or agricultural space by planting trees and plants; reforestation involves replanting trees on areas that have been cut or destroyed by fire .
CONTENT STUDIES Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship . The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on libel , slander , obscenity , incitement to commit a crime, etc.

FINAL SYNOPSIS The environment is part of us and we are a part of it. The freedom to express our views towards what is done to the environment is a fundamental right. Legislators are responsible for making and implementing the rules that pave way for the preservation of the environment. Graffiti is a form of art that is used for self expression. Although very unconventional, this is the only way to make sure that what we say is hard. Graffiti, though widely considered destructive can be used for a better cause to rally for the environment. The Malaysian environmental wish list is an initiative to introduce this art form(graffiti) to the masses as well as giving them a platform to express their wishes regarding the safeguarding of the environment. This will be done by the means of non-destructive, non-permanent digital graffiti projected on the Malaysian Parliament. This will definitely get the attention of the legislators and thus give the environment a better chance of surviving.
