2. DIFFICALTY GETTING INTERVIEW
According to documentary filmmakers like Anthony Q. Artis, Michael Apted
and Michael Moore, Interviews are a very important part of a
documentary, and the difficulty of getting them depends on the subject
matter, ‘it takes understanding the human mentality to know who you can
interview successfully, but it also takes risk’ (quoted by Anthony Q. Artis).
Based on my experience of making a documentary and an article I read, the
subjects that are most controversial tend to be the most effective. But to get
people talking about them you have to approach in a certain way.
‘In order to make the best of the interview and make the interviewee feel
more comfortable, try to place yourselves in a low status position. You can
tone down your high status position by pretending that you are not in
complete control of the technical equipment. It may also have a relaxing
effect if the interviewer improvises his other questions instead of reading off
a script.’

3. BIAS OPINION ON SUBJECT MATTER
Bias Opinion are presented in most
documentaries, especially when they are focused on an
individual or group. In ‘Aileen Life And Death Of A Serial
Killer’, the documentary filmmaker presents a bias
representation of Aileen due to the fact that they were
friend, he constantly tries to make the audience sympathise
for Aileen in different ways, like, focusing a lot on her
personal life and corrupt upbringing. Most documentaries
do this, they either aim to make the audience for or against
the subject matter.
