 Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPNL) is a company of
Rajasthan State Electricity Board (RSEB) established by government of
Rajasthan.
 Aim of RVPNL is to provide reliable electric transmission service to customers.
 132 KV G.S.S., Pilibangan (Hanumangarh) is a part of RVPNL.
 Power comes from 132 KV G.S.S. Fatehgarh (Hanumangarh), SSTPS (Suratgarh
Super Thermal Power Station).

Sub Station Layout
An assembly of apparatus installed to control transmission and dinstrubution of electric power.
Lightning Arrester (L.A.)
 Lightning Arrester is a protective
device which provides protection
against high voltage surges.
 .A lightning arrester has two
terminals a high voltage terminal
and a ground terminal.
Capacitive Voltage Transformer (CVT)
 The capacitive voltage transformer step-down the
high voltage input signals and provide the low
voltage signals which can easily measure through
the measuring instrument.
 The Capacitive voltage transformer (CVT) is also
called capacitive potential transformer
Potential Transformer
( P.T. )
 A potential transformer is mainly
used to measure high alternating
voltage in a power system.
Potential transformers are step-
down transformers.
Power Line Carrier Communication (PLCC)
 For exchange of data and transfer of
messages between substations, voice
communication is necessary. For this
purpos high frequency carrier current
is transmitted over same transmission
line on which power is transmitted.
Hence this communication is called
as power line carrier communication
Wave Trap
Isolator
 It isolates the devices from live
line when there is a
maintenance.
 It operates when
there is no load.
 It is also used to change bus bar
line from main to reserve or vice
versa.
Insulator
 An insulator is a material that
does not conduct electrical
current.
 Insulating materials include
paper, plastic, rubber, glass and
air.
 Vacuum is also an insulator, but
is not actually a material.
Current Transformer (C.T.)
 current Transformer is used to measure high value of current.
 C.T. ‘s secondatry is connected to relay to proyect the system
against overcurrents.
Circuit Breaker ( C.B. )
 Today, two most popular circuit
breakers are used in sub-
stations which are: Vacuum
Circuit Breaker & SF6 Circuit
Breaker.
 Oil and Air Blast circuit breaker
was used in
earlier decades.
Bus Bar
 It is a metallic barwhich has high
current carrying capability.
 Bus bar is made from ‘Cu’ and
‘Al’.
 Its function is to carry electricity
from line to switchyard or vice-
versa.
Power Transformer
 Transformer is a static device that
transfers electrical energy from one
electric circuit to another electric circuit
by means of a common magnetic circuit.
 Transformer can link two or more electric
circuits.
Losses in Transfomer
IRON LOSSES ( Constant losses )
 The losses that occurred due to the alternating
flux in the core of the transformer ,as we know
that losses occurred in core , therefore iron loss
is called core loss.
 There are two types of losses :- Hysteresis loss ,
eddy current loss.
COPPER LOSSES
 Copper loss is an undesirable transfer of
energy , as core losses, which result from
induced currents in adjacent components.
Main Parts of Power
Transformer
Capacitor Bank
 It is a set of many capacitors connected in
series or parallel with the circuit.
 Capacitors are basically used for power
factor correction and protection of
substation or to increase voltage in
substation.
 Capacitor banks increase the current
capacity of the supply.
Battery Bank
 In any substation or industry battery
bank is used to provide control voltage
to circuit breakers.
 (circuit breaker’s closing coil or trapping
coil is used to energise with the help of
battery bank).
 There are many electrical equipment like
relays, also working on DC supply for this
battery bank is also required.
 Circuit breakers indication lamps, or
emergency lamps also required Dc voltage
provided by the battery bank.

Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited  Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPNL) is a company of Rajasthan State Electricity Board (RSEB) established by government of Rajasthan.  Aim of RVPNL is to provide reliable electric transmission service to customers.  132 KV G.S.S., Pilibangan (Hanumangarh) is a part of RVPNL.  Power comes from 132 KV G.S.S. Fatehgarh (Hanumangarh), SSTPS (Suratgarh Super Thermal Power Station).

  • 4. Sequnce of Componets Sub Station Layout An assembly of apparatus installed to control transmission and dinstrubution of electric power.
  • 5. Lightning Arrester (L.A.)  Lightning Arrester is a protective device which provides protection against high voltage surges.  .A lightning arrester has two terminals a high voltage terminal and a ground terminal.
  • 6. Capacitive Voltage Transformer (CVT)  The capacitive voltage transformer step-down the high voltage input signals and provide the low voltage signals which can easily measure through the measuring instrument.  The Capacitive voltage transformer (CVT) is also called capacitive potential transformer
  • 7. Potential Transformer ( P.T. )  A potential transformer is mainly used to measure high alternating voltage in a power system. Potential transformers are step- down transformers.
  • 8. Power Line Carrier Communication (PLCC)  For exchange of data and transfer of messages between substations, voice communication is necessary. For this purpos high frequency carrier current is transmitted over same transmission line on which power is transmitted. Hence this communication is called as power line carrier communication Wave Trap
  • 9. Isolator  It isolates the devices from live line when there is a maintenance.  It operates when there is no load.  It is also used to change bus bar line from main to reserve or vice versa.
  • 10. Insulator  An insulator is a material that does not conduct electrical current.  Insulating materials include paper, plastic, rubber, glass and air.  Vacuum is also an insulator, but is not actually a material.
  • 11. Current Transformer (C.T.)  current Transformer is used to measure high value of current.  C.T. ‘s secondatry is connected to relay to proyect the system against overcurrents.
  • 12. Circuit Breaker ( C.B. )  Today, two most popular circuit breakers are used in sub- stations which are: Vacuum Circuit Breaker & SF6 Circuit Breaker.  Oil and Air Blast circuit breaker was used in earlier decades.
  • 13. Bus Bar  It is a metallic barwhich has high current carrying capability.  Bus bar is made from ‘Cu’ and ‘Al’.  Its function is to carry electricity from line to switchyard or vice- versa.

Power Transformer  Transformer is a static device that transfers electrical energy from one electric circuit to another electric circuit by means of a common magnetic circuit.  Transformer can link two or more electric circuits. Losses in Transfomer IRON LOSSES ( Constant losses )  The losses that occurred due to the alternating flux in the core of the transformer ,as we know that losses occurred in core , therefore iron loss is called core loss.  There are two types of losses :- Hysteresis loss , eddy current loss. COPPER LOSSES  Copper loss is an undesirable transfer of energy , as core losses, which result from induced currents in adjacent components.

  • 16. Capacitor Bank  It is a set of many capacitors connected in series or parallel with the circuit.  Capacitors are basically used for power factor correction and protection of substation or to increase voltage in substation.  Capacitor banks increase the current capacity of the supply.
  • 17. Battery Bank  In any substation or industry battery bank is used to provide control voltage to circuit breakers.  (circuit breaker’s closing coil or trapping coil is used to energise with the help of battery bank).  There are many electrical equipment like relays, also working on DC supply for this battery bank is also required.  Circuit breakers indication lamps, or emergency lamps also required Dc voltage provided by the battery bank.
