Kayaks and canoes are human-powered watercraft. A kayak has a paddler sitting facing forward using a double-bladed paddle, while a canoe is open and uses a single-bladed paddle. Kayaking differs from canoeing in that kayakers sit facing forward with their legs in front, paddling with a double-bladed paddle on each side in rotation, whereas canoeists sit side-by-side and use a single-bladed paddle.
