The company’s security vision and overall goal was all about data protection, privacy and sharing, yet also to give subscribers the power to determine what to share, with whom and through the channel of their choice. To implement this vision, the company built out its own Swisscom Cloud architecture with an Identity Broker (IDB) component powered by ForgeRock technologies. We have implemented a solution for the OTC trade based on Ethereum and IPFS, covering the regulations of Mifid 2 and Finfrag. OTC is an abbreviation of Over-the-Counter (trading). It has always been an important pillar of activity for financial institutions. Bilateral OTC trading is attractive, because transactions can be kept more private than when trading via a market exchange (a central counterparty CPP), and there are less fees to be paid. We have set out to build a Blockchain-based Clearing and Settlement system that fixes the deficiencies of OTC trading, without scarifying the advantages. Blockchain technology is ideal to achieve this.

Alibaba invested in Israeli startup Visualead, which developed visual QR code technology. The companies entered a strategic cooperation agreement giving Alibaba rights to use Visualead's patents and technology. Visualead's visual QR codes can be generated from images and videos and are up to four times more likely to be scanned than regular QR codes. Visualead is working with Alibaba's Mashangtao service to provide tools for merchants on Taobao and Tmall, and Mashangtao has used visual QR codes to enable merchants to generate QR codes.

An online training course run by the FIWARE Foundation in conjunction with the i4Trust project. The core part of this virtual training camp (21-24 June 2021) covered all the necessary skills to develop smart solutions powered by FIWARE. It introduces the basis of Digital Twin programming using linked data concepts - JSON-LD and NGSI-LD and combines these with common smart data models for the sharing and augmentation of context data.
In addition, it covers the supplementary FIWARE technologies used to implement the common functions typically required when architecting a complete smart solution: Identity and Access Management (IAM) functions to secure access to digital twin data and functions enabling the interface with IoT and 3rd systems, or the connection with different tools for processing and monitoring current and historical big data.
This 12-hour online training course can be used to obtain a good understanding of FIWARE and NGSI Interfaces and form the basis of studying for the FIWARE expert certification.
Extending this core part, the virtual training camp adds introductory and deep-dive sessions on how FIWARE and iSHARE technologies, brought together under the umbrella of the i4Trust initiative, can be combined to provide the means for the creation of data spaces in which multiple organizations can exchange digital twin data in a trusted and efficient manner, collaborating in the creation of innovative services based on data sharing. In addition, SMEs and Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) that go through this complete training and are located in countries eligible under Horizon 2020 will be equipped with the necessary know-how to apply to the recently launched i4Trust Open Call.

The outcome of our project is a 3D shopping mart. Here user enters the mart and looks up for products, once the user clicks any product, the product is then automatically added to the cart, each item is already assigned a certain ID which will fetch
the products information from the database and add it to the cart. Once the user is done with shopping and exploring the mart he can checkout, where the list of items in cart will be displayed, whether he wants to add or delete any item, when OK is pressed the shopping is done and the transactions can be either made online or through cash on delivery. That avoids the hassle of going to markets physically while providing same interactive features at one click.

Today’s security detection and response capabilities are usually focused on endpoints and network devices. Applications are often considered a distant cousin, more of a potential liability whose logs should be ingested into remote monitoring solutions such as SIEMs. Projects such as OWASP AppSensor however have loads of promise, putting the application back at the heart of attack detection and response, plus offering a really exciting opportunity to development teams. But these ideas have been around for more than 10 years, and AppSensor itself is getting close to this age, yet they still aren’t commonplace, why might this be? An attack aware application is one that can detect and report suspected malicious events, evaluate a series of events and take action if it suspects that series of events, that when considered together are malicious in nature. Examples of events may be a high number of login attempts over a period, a forceful browsing attempt or an obvious XSS string. Many of these events are routinely intercepted today by inline security appliances such as a Web Application Firewall (WAF). However, suspicious events may also be a lot more contextual to the application such as a change to a parameter that should not be changed. This context may not be available to an external device such as a WAF but it is to the application and this leads to the ability to generate very high-fidelity security alerting and opens the possibility of the application itself making pragmatic defensive choices.

Today’s security detection and response capabilities are usually focused on endpoints and network devices. Applications are often considered a distant cousin, more of a potential liability whose logs should be ingested into remote monitoring solutions such as SIEMs. Projects such as OWASP AppSensor however have loads of promise, putting the application back at the heart of attack detection and response, plus offering a really exciting opportunity to development teams. But these ideas have been around for more than 10 years, and AppSensor itself is getting close to this age, yet they still aren’t commonplace, why might this be? An attack aware application is one that can detect and report suspected malicious events, evaluate a series of events and take action if it suspects that series of events, that when considered together are malicious in nature. Examples of events may be a high number of login attempts over a period, a forceful browsing attempt or an obvious XSS string. Many of these events are routinely intercepted today by inline security appliances such as a Web Application Firewall (WAF). However, suspicious events may also be a lot more contextual to the application such as a change to a parameter that should not be changed. This context may not be available to an external device such as a WAF but it is to the application and this leads to the ability to generate very high-fidelity security alerting and opens the possibility of the application itself making pragmatic defensive choices.

IoT and edge analytics/intelligence are broad terms that cover a wide range of applications and architectures. The one constant is that the data that streams in from sensors and other edge devices is valuable, offering a wealth of opportunities to process and exploit, in order to improve the products and services that enterprises offer to their customers.
But what is the nature of these intelligent analytical operations that one could do with sensor data, and where should those operations be performed? For example, where geographically should machine-learning models be trained: near the edge, in the data center, or perhaps at an intermediate point in between?

For the past year I've been helping to build and open source The @ Platform, which inverts the usual model by giving everybody (and every thing) their own place to store data and control who (and what) has access to it. This talk will give an overview of the platform and its underlying protocol, and illustrate how it can be used to build privacy preserving apps and Internet connected things. It will also cover how the platform can be self hosted on devices like the Raspberry Pi, and how people can get involved in the open source community growing around it.
