This document discusses arguments around whether Google is making people stupid. It presents views that Google diverts people's attention away from reading books and critical thinking. However, the document concludes that Google itself is not making people stupid; rather, it is people's overdependence and laziness in only using Google without thinking critically that can make them stupid.
3. Is Google making us stupid?
In this article nicholas carr argues that internet and google are reducing the
human’s ability to read the book and critical thinking. The availability of
information on Google divert people’s mind to search information on books.
People spend lots of time using internet and researching different things. This is
challenging us to use our own intelligence and power to think rather than to
much depend on web.
7. Is Stupid Making Us Google?
Bowman James argues that it is not Google that makes us stupid but our
professors who teach us to do our all projects on web. All the research,
database, and note are expected to do from computers. The traditional way of
reading books are rare nowadays. He explains that students are being stupid
because the professors teach them model of learning of information retrieval
which is somehow true in today’s generation.
8. My conclusion
However I argue that Google is not making us stupid rather our stupidity on the
way we use google is making us stupid. I agree that people are being more
dependent on google rather than their book. It is not because of google but
because of our laziness and the way we seek the easiness in our life. Thus the
Google itself is not making us stupid but the entirely dependence on web makes
us stupid.
