Zach Houston Durham is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in aviation. He discusses several political issues he feels strongly about, including gun rights, environmental regulations, and transgender athletes. Zach believes the biggest issue facing America is that people prioritize being part of movements over moral judgment. He also thinks people should mind their own business instead of trying to cancel things they do not understand. The most important amendment to Zach is the freedom of speech. After this class, he has learned the value of understanding different perspectives on important issues.

1. Participation in
Politics Project
Hi my name is Zach
Houston Durham im
currently chasing my
Bachelors of sciene
in aviation, and heres
my political cartoon!
2. • Many things could move someone to become active in politics a few of these
reasons are maybe they felt influenced by a co-worker, friends or family who feel
one way or another on certain issues, some may have even had an event that
happened in their life that swayed them one way over the other.
• Personally I havent put much thought as to why I vote or why I look into
politics one reason could be because I know what the people on the other side of
the spectrum want to do with our country and quite frankly it's sick.
• Currently I'd probably change a couple issues involving oil and transgenders in
sports. Also I'd like for us to stay out of the Paris accord, I feel as if Americans get
the short end of the stick yet BIden gets a tag saying he's "eco-friendly" by joining
the accords again.
• Gun laws and rights should stay where they're at im not a gun nut I only have a
rifle gifted to me and my sidearm I've baught for personal protection;however, I
would like a future where if I decided I could be a gun nut and actually buy a
firearm.
3. • I'd like to more about the origins of our electoral college, it's certainly
an interesting way to count votes in a democracy. Some say the
college system is flaued and needs a re-work ;however, at this
moment in time I believe it's perfect in relation to other methods.
• I wasn't expecting to learn so much detail about every branch and
the ways they operate. Although I do feel as if I could have absorbed
more with the ability to go to class at least a day a week.
4. • I believe the biggest political issue were facing in America is the
simple fact that everyone wants to be part of a movement or making
history that its clouded their moral compass and judgement of whats
truly right and wrong.
• Something I'd also like to touch on seeing how this could
relate, people need to mind their own business and quit trying to
cancel anything and everything they know nothing about an example
of this could be why I have people who dont know how to shoot let
alone have ever held a gun in their life telling me and others how
dangerous and how much of a plague they are to society.
5. • The most important amendment to me is an easy one, one I think is
first for a reason and that’s the freedom of speech, peaceful protest,
freedom of press and the freedom to exercise religious beliefs. It’s a
no brainer as to why I believe this is the best of all twenty-seven and
that’s due in part to what makes us the best country on earth the
right to if we see fit speak out against our government or ruling body.
6. • Something ill take with me past this semester is not only how our
voting system is unique and how its works, but also being forced to
try and see things from the other side and attempt to understand
why why feel the ways they do I've felt this way in part to our
discussion boards and reading what everyone had to say. Honestly I
was shocked to see such a divide and seperation in the class on
important opinions and matters. Having the ability to understand
those different from you even in the slightest is what matters and its
truly what im taking away from this class.
