The conference will include presentations from doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, speech therapists and others on topics ranging from communication devices, palliative care, respiratory management, genetic counseling and more. It will run from 7am to 7:30pm on Thursday, November 6, 2014, with sessions occurring simultaneously in different rooms throughout the day.

This document describes the use of Bioness L300 Functional Electrical Stimulation orthoses to improve mobility for a patient with Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS). The patient experienced increased leg stiffness, weakness, and frequent falls. While medications and physical therapy provided some relief from spasticity, the patient continued falling several times per month. After trials without the Bioness device showed poor gait speed and endurance, testing with the Bioness showed significantly improved limb clearance, gait speed, timed up-and-go, and 6-minute walk distances. The Bioness device effectively reduced lower extremity spasticity during walking and improved the patient's quality of life and functional mobility.
