Intended outcome was to write a

A. Evaluation of progress towards
completing ROL
I had a better understanding of who I was as a person.
I had time to resonate and reflect if I still wish to go ahead with
intended outcome or switch another pathway.
Optimistic and still motivated to stick with research proposal =
completing masters = a degree added to my CV = one step closer to
dream job .

Klem and Connell (2004) found that teachers’ supportive and
caring were central to student success and participation:
“Teacher support is important to student engagement in school
as reported by students and teachers. Students who perceive
teachers as creating a caring, well-structured learning
environment in which expectations are high, clear, and fair are
more likely to report engagement in school” (p. 270).

T. & Rountree, K. (1996).
• Sharing and collaborating ideas with. “Other”
group
• Referencing. Te Puna Ako – Learning Centre
• Speak with my boss for his approval to use
our mentor students in my research.
C. Remaining steps to complete my ROL
• Complete literature review.
• Have a clear timeframe.
• Continue sending more time in the library, visit postgraduate centre.
• Type, think, reflect, type.
• Think about the layout of the final outcome (portfolio). Collecting all
necessary data/documents.
D. How I will use Reflective Practice in the
final steps of ROL
“When the novice thinks, “I need to have a big impact in every session,
every class, every health consultation,” then there is pressure and
stress. Wanting to do really good work is one thing. Using the client,
student, or patient as criteria for success is different”. Skovholt, TM. &
Trotter-Mathison, M. (2014, p.95).

When I started the course..
• I discovered how I learn.
Holistically. A good 360 view of
oneself.
• Ambiguous.
• The novice – “glamourized
expectations”.
Where I am today…
• I find myself reflecting, referring back to the
drawing board. Who is benefiting from this
research?
• Realistic. Approach wise.
• Critical reflection on my professional work of care.
Approach to research vs being mindful of my own
personal expectations.
• Reflective practice - Running red lights. No
Recreating phase.
• Professional self…I need to be in a healthy head
space, to execute the task.

  • 3. Recap from Presentation 1 • Informal vs formal education. Learning. • The way I was brought up, my way of learning in and out of the classroom implements a lot of my practice to date. • I realised my professional self is the best of both worlds. Holistic and western approaches to practice. Intended outcome was to write a research proposal.

Evaluation of progress towards completing ROL I had a better understanding of who I was as a person. I had time to resonate and reflect if I still wish to go ahead with intended outcome or switch another pathway. Optimistic and still motivated to stick with research proposal = completing masters = a degree added to my CV = one step closer to dream job .

Remaining steps to complete my ROL • Complete literature review. • Have a clear timeframe. • Continue sending more time in the library, visit postgraduate centre. • Type, think, reflect, type. • Think about the layout of the final outcome (portfolio). Collecting all necessary data/documents.

How I will use Reflective Practice in the final steps of ROL “When the novice thinks, “I need to have a big impact in every session, every class, every health consultation,” then there is pressure and stress. Wanting to do really good work is one thing. Using the client, student, or patient as criteria for success is different”. Skovholt, TM. & Trotter-Mathison, M. (2014, p.95).
  • 10. Compare professional self from presentation A to presentation B. When I started the course.. • I discovered how I learn. Holistically. A good 360 view of oneself. • Ambiguous. • The novice – “glamourized expectations”. Where I am today… • I find myself reflecting, referring back to the drawing board. Who is benefiting from this research? • Realistic. Approach wise. • Critical reflection on my professional work of care. Approach to research vs being mindful of my own personal expectations. • Reflective practice - Running red lights. No Recreating phase. • Professional self…I need to be in a healthy head space, to execute the task. • Professional self…I need to be honest, open and critical of my own learning first befor • TIME!

  1. A clearly presented statement and evaluation of your progress since your last presentation towards completing your ROL outcome. Since presentation 1, like everyone I needed to reflect on why I wanted to stick with my intended. Who will benefit most from my research. How does it play a part in my furture?
  2. A critically reflective evaluation of how you have used reflective practice throughout the above process. Whilst I'm constantly reflecting on my own self and checking in to see if my professional self matches with my personal self. Everything in other words all stars are aligned. I discovered the essence of why I chose this particular outcome is because of my natural aura to care and nurture those around me. I realised its because I care about my role. I care for the student. I want students to succeed to highest potential. Skovholt (2014).
  3. A clearly presented statement of the remaining steps you need to take to complete your ROL. Is it do-able? Ethics? Think about what method works for my intended research?
  4. A clearly presented statement of how you will use the reflective practice in these final steps. Repeat steps in A. Find literature Email Alexandra. Checking in. Type, reflect, plan, reflect, type. Preassure of being Tongan, being a role model.
  5. Provide a reflective evaluation of how your participation in this course to date and the process of preparing this presentation has informed your professional self. Circumstances has changed in my personal life therefore kinda swayed my direction, outcome in a sense. I found that a part of me was running red lights as described in Skovholt chapter 3 as RECREATING PHASE. Not learning to turn off, I personally felt this part of me affected the rest of my well being, including my final outcome.
