The Brief
Following on from your previous assignment, you are developing
reputation as being knowledgeable in digital marketing. Now, the
international interactive media festival South by Southwest (SXSW) are
interested in having you speak at their next conference. They have asked
you to prepare a presentation document and short video pitch to give
them an indication of your knowledge of how audiences use technology
and its impact on their lives.

Digital Technology, silmply put, is a combination of binary numbers using the
symbols 0 and 1 to create text and images, on any device that we have available
today. These can be computer, mobile phones ,tablets. This method is used, to
simplify the use of decimal numbers or letters in our everyday digital technology.

(www), becomes available to everyone,
thanks to Tim Berners - Lee. This is the
Internet we all know today. There has been
many changes to the internet since 1991. If
we think about the changes made in the last 
27 years, we can for sure ,be amazed by
the internet evolution.

The Internet has really made an impact to the world we all know today. Today
we have access all types of communication, new technology where we ca share
documents, pictures, videos and it is just the beginnig. We can communicate to
our friends and family, despite where they are based in the world and we can
look forward to artificial intelligence making its way into our world. We have
the endless possibility of doing things we couldn`t do for 27 years ago. 
 The search engine Google has been giving us the possibility of finding
everything we need, by writing keywords in this google search box.
Doing that, we can access every website possible, online.

The internet is for everyone. The access to the internet has changed dramatically
over the years and it is still changing. People are using the internet for everything,
from what the weather may be like today, to music, reading the latest news, to
communicate with others and so much more. The internet has changed the way
people live their lives. Sometimes, people forget ,how it used to be without the
Internet. One day without it, can lead to so much drama.
Year 1995, less than 1% internet users. Today
more than 3 billion people use the Internet. The
first billion of internet users were reached in
2015.

From Dial - ups connections to Wireless ISP connections. The internet speed has
been improved over the years, and it is still improving.We can all remmember the
Dial - ups, where not only the sound was annoying, but the connection speed
was very slow as well. Dial - ups was the first method used to connect to the
internet and gave people the opportunity of accesing information like never
before. The maximum transfer speed with the Dial -ups was 56kbps, which we
can imagine how slow it was, comparing to today`s internet speed that is
measured in Mbps.

Number 1: Google
Google has been and it still is, people`s favorite search engine reaching a
86.28% of market share in April 2018.
Number 2: Bing
Bing is owned by Microsoft and it`s Google`s competitor, but people do prefer
Google, since Google has a wider database and people find what they are
looking for in just seconds. Bing reached a 6,45% market share on April 2018
Number 3 Yahoo Search
Yahoo search, is powered by Bing and Yahoo mail is one of the biggest email
providers. Yahoo reached a 3,41% on market share on April 2018. 
Number 4:Baidu
Baidu reached a 0,93% on the market share on April 2018. Baidu is the most
popular search engine in China.

People are using other search channels as well ,to search for example, their
favorite celebrity, their friends, pictures of their favorite animals and so on. For
example, Facebook is the most popular social application in the world. With 2196
million users in 2018 and growing. People can access Facebook with their mobile
phone, tablet or laptops.

Here are some other popular, search channels. 
Whatsp, we can search for our friends by searching for their phone numbers.
Instagram, search for friends, celebritis, look at pictures. LinkeIn, search for
business partners, jobs,make contact with new employers. Twitter, post content,
search for people, connect with people. Pinterest, search for pictures, news, get
fashion ideas. Snapchat, search for friends and send 10 seconds pictures or
videos. YouTube, search all kind of videos.

 We can say that today`s online shopping has really exceeded expectations and
that the customers today are not afraid of trying the services and the products that
are being offered. We are a world of innovators and more to be born. We have
access to all kind of shopping websites, from products with the newest
technology, to veggetables at our doors. Free delivery or pay a small amount and
you get the products delivered right in front of your door.
We love our phones, and a new phone
will cost us a lot, so why not
protecting it, by buying a phone case. 
Number one most bought items in
2018 are Phone Cases and Phone
Accessories.
Second place for the most sold
items in 2018 are Smartwatches
Third place 2018. The
Shapewear.
People also buy online, Makeup, Books, Food and
Beverages, Maternity Dresses, Pet Care accessories
and so much more. The consumer has gained a lot
of trust into the online shopping and is convenient
to sit in your sofa at home and order your favorite
products online.

Not only you can shop online, but we can add something new to our TO DO
LIST. We have to check out, the new Amazon shop, named Amazon Go. It is
located in Seattle, USA. You can shop by scanning your mobile phone at the
entrance with the amazon application. You can then, enter the store, pick up what
you want to buy, and leave the store. If you pick up an item and you change your
mind you can simply put it back. After you leave, the amazon app will show you
the items you picked and how much your card has been charged for those items.

The online video consumption has changed radically over the years. People are
not only watching online videos, but they are also uploading and sharing their
videos.
Internet users who watch online video content on any device by country in
percentage. The statistics are as of January 2018. Saudi Arabia has the highest
percentage (95%) of internet users who watch online video content.

This great opportunity of new technology and high Internet speed, has awakened
people`s interest even more than before. Not only in social media, but the online
buying and the applications used to access what services the different companies
have to offer. 
Today, consumers even use their mobile phones to access their bank through
the Banking Application. Every bank in the world is creating their own website
and application right away. We can manage our money online using the
banking application in seconds.
With access to the internet and a smartphone, we have access to many different
applications that allows us to find things that intersts us in just a few seconds.
But if, the app is using a long time to download and it not easy to use, the
customers will lose their pacience and they will choose another app. This is
why in today`s world it is crucial to have an easy to use website and an easy to
use application, in order to keep your customers interested.

We are all very interested in our mobile phones, tablets and laptops. We forget
how to socialize. We are all meeting with our friends to hang out, but not like we
used to. Today we hang out, so that we comment on what other people are
posting online. We are all very cough up in this world and we forget how our
lives were before the internet was so eassily accessible.

online than socializing with people right next to them.

We live in a world of change, in a world where new technology is always
welcome. Digital Technology has changed the way we do things, the way we
search for information. We are no longer that interested in using our time in a
library to search for a book that has the information we look for. Today we
use the internet and its searching channels to find that information. We have a
new way of communicating through all the social media channels, and we feel
we have the power of changing thinks by posting our thoughs online. We film
ourselfs and post online for others to see. We want to know what others do,
by following them on their social medias. Digital Technology is going the
right direction and we are customers who follow the new trend. Even though
this is a road we all go on, we have to be careful as well. We are exposed
online and we have to keep our information safe from others, like hackers.
Online Live Video has been an issue as well. People are driving and filming
themselfs and they are at high risk for road accidents. We have to ask
ourselfs, have we completely lost ourself in the world of digital? It looks like
we forget to be ourselfs and to socialize without including others comments
from social media in our conversations. Now that we have access to so many
things, it makes our everyday lives easier for example mobile banking. We
simply log on and we can see our balance, we can transfer money or we can
buy products online in just a few seconds. Digital Technology is an amazing
change to our world and we are embrasing it. We even embrace, Artificial
Intelligence, like the VR Glasses. Using these glasses we take part in a virtual
world of exiting things. We even welcome the first human robot, Sophia and
as evidence, we even created a bank account for "her".

Now, the international interactive media festival South by Southwest (SXSW) are interested in having you speak at their next conference. They have asked you to prepare a presentation document and short video pitch to give them an indication of your knowledge of how audiences use technology and its impact on their lives.
  • 3. DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY Page 1 Digital Technology, silmply put, is a combination of binary numbers using the symbols 0 and 1 to create text and images, on any device that we have available today.   • 4. INTRODUCTION Page 2 August 23rd 1991, the World Wide Web (www), becomes available to everyone, thanks to Tim Berners - Lee. This is the Internet we all know today. There has been many changes to the internet since 1991. Today we have access all types of communication, new technology where we ca share documents, pictures, videos and it is just the beginnig. We can communicate to our friends and family, despite where they are based in the world and we can look forward to artificial intelligence making its way into our world. We have the endless possibility of doing things we couldn`t do for 27 years ago.   The search engine Google has been giving us the possibility of finding everything we need, by writing keywords in this google search box.   • 5. ACCESS TO THE INTERNET Page 3 The internet is for everyone. The access to the internet has changed dramatically over the years and it is still changing. People are using the internet for everything, from what the weather may be like today, to music, reading the latest news, to communicate with others and so much more. The internet has changed the way people live their lives. Sometimes, people forget ,how it used to be without the Internet. One day without it, can lead to so much drama. The internet speed has been improved over the years, and it is still improving.We can all remmember the Dial - ups, where not only the sound was annoying, but the connection speed was very slow as well. Dial - ups was the first method used to connect to the internet and gave people the opportunity of accesing information like never before. The maximum transfer speed with the Dial -ups was 56kbps, which we can imagine how slow it was, comparing to today`s internet speed that is measured in Mbps. Apple has created the iWatch. This watch can be used to communicate in a new way, using only your wrist. Wireless Headphones. Today we can access music, communicate and connect even with with the wireless headphones.  
  • 8. HOW CUSTOMERS SEARCH FOR INFORMATION Page 6 Number 1: Google Google has been and it still is, people`s favorite search engine reaching a 86.28% of market share in April 2018. Number 2: Bing Bing is owned by Microsoft and it`s Google`s competitor, but people do prefer Google, since Google has a wider database and people find what they are looking for in just seconds. Bing reached a 6,45% market share on April 2018 Number 3 Yahoo Search Yahoo search, is powered by Bing and Yahoo mail is one of the biggest email providers. HOW CUSTOMERS SEARCH FOR INFORMATION Page 7 People are using other search channels as well ,to search for example, their favorite celebrity, their friends, pictures of their favorite animals and so on. For example, Facebook is the most popular social application in the world. With 2196 million users in 2018 and growing. People can access Facebook with their mobile phone, tablet or laptops. Instagram, search for friends, celebritis, look at pictures. LinkeIn, search for business partners, jobs,make contact with new employers. Twitter, post content, search for people, connect with people. Pinterest, search for pictures, news, get fashion ideas. Snapchat, search for friends and send 10 seconds pictures or videos. WHAT CONSUMERS BUY ONLINE Page 8  We can say that today`s online shopping has really exceeded expectations and that the customers today are not afraid of trying the services and the products that are being offered. We are a world of innovators and more to be born. We have access to all kind of shopping websites, from products with the newest technology, to veggetables at our doors. Free delivery or pay a small amount and you get the products delivered right in front of your door. We love our phones, and a new phone will cost us a lot, so why not protecting it, by buying a phone case.  Number one most bought items in 2018 are Phone Cases and Phone Accessories. Second place for the most sold items in 2018 are Smartwatches Third place 2018. The Shapewear. People also buy online, Makeup, Books, Food and Beverages, Maternity Dresses, Pet Care accessories and so much more. The consumer has gained a lot of trust into the online shopping and is convenient to sit in your sofa at home and order your favorite products online.   • 11. WHAT CONSUMERS BUY ONLINE Page 9 Not only you can shop online, but we can add something new to our TO DO LIST. We have to check out, the new Amazon shop, named Amazon Go. It is located in Seattle, USA. You can shop by scanning your mobile phone at the entrance with the amazon application. You can then, enter the store, pick up what you want to buy, and leave the store. If you pick up an item and you change your mind you can simply put it back.   • 12. ONLINE VIDEO CONSUMPTION Page 10 The online video consumption has changed radically over the years. People are not only watching online videos, but they are also uploading and sharing their videos. Internet users who watch online video content on any device by country in percentage.   • 13. CONSUMER TRENDS Page 11 This great opportunity of new technology and high Internet speed, has awakened people`s interest even more than before. Not only in social media, but the online buying and the applications used to access what services the different companies have to offer.  Today, consumers even use their mobile phones to access their bank through the Banking Application. Every bank in the world is creating their own website and application right away. We can manage our money online using the banking application in seconds. With access to the internet and a smartphone, we have access to many different applications that allows us to find things that intersts us in just a few seconds. But if, the app is using a long time to download and it not easy to use, the customers will lose their pacience and they will choose another app. This is why in today`s world it is crucial to have an easy to use website and an easy to use application, in order to keep your customers interested.   • 14. CONSUMER TRENDS Page 12 We are all very interested in our mobile phones, tablets and laptops. We forget how to socialize. We are all meeting with our friends to hang out, but not like we used to. Today we hang out, so that we comment on what other people are posting online. People in a park ,that seem to be more interested in what has been posted online than socializing with people right next to them.
  • 15. SUMMARY Page 13 We live in a world of change, in a world where new technology is always welcome. Digital Technology has changed the way we do things, the way we search for information. We are no longer that interested in using our time in a library to search for a book that has the information we look for. Today we use the internet and its searching channels to find that information. We have a new way of communicating through all the social media channels, and we feel we have the power of changing thinks by posting our thoughs online. We film ourselfs and post online for others to see. We want to know what others do, by following them on their social medias. Digital Technology is going the right direction and we are customers who follow the new trend. Even though this is a road we all go on, we have to be careful as well. We are exposed online and we have to keep our information safe from others, like hackers. Online Live Video has been an issue as well. People are driving and filming themselfs and they are at high risk for road accidents. We have to ask ourselfs, have we completely lost ourself in the world of digital? It looks like we forget to be ourselfs and to socialize without including others comments from social media in our conversations. Now that we have access to so many things, it makes our everyday lives easier for example mobile banking. We simply log on and we can see our balance, we can transfer money or we can buy products online in just a few seconds. Digital Technology is an amazing change to our world and we are embrasing it. We even embrace, Artificial Intelligence, like the VR Glasses. Using these glasses we take part in a virtual world of exiting things.
