An example of my instructional design work
An instructor asked an instructional designer for help improving students' oral Chinese skills outside of class. The designer suggested peer review activities using Voicethread, a web-based multimedia platform. Students would form groups, upload audio/video projects on given topics, and provide feedback on each other's work. The designer would provide tutorials while the instructor prepared instructions, rubrics, and feedback guidelines. Students would need Voicethread accounts after a training. The platform allows recording audio/video comments for assessment of language skills like pronunciation and fluency.

They used storyboards and shot lists to plan filming but had to make some changes due to time constraints and lack of props like fake blood. Some shots were cut or altered to still convey the intended eerie atmosphere or plot points without all the originally planned elements. The group encountered challenges like matching shots between cameras and making daytime footage appear nighttime but were able to complete filming and felt they captured realistic horror elements.

The filmmakers had several issues during production that required changing their storyline and locations. Their main character was unavailable so they had to find a new one. The onboard microphone also had issues, forcing them to use background noise. Some rooms were occupied, so compromise was needed. Despite challenges, they were able to get some good shots including wide, panning, close-ups and tracking shots to develop the story. Acting was also good. Editing in iMovie was simpler than professional software. Multiple reshoots from different angles helped improve the story.

However, they were able to fix these issues in editing. They also had to replace an actress who became ill, but found a replacement. In editing, they added title cards and included their names to credit their work. The author found using the editing software challenging as technical tasks are not their strength, but completing this project improved their skills.

Our preliminary exercise asked us to create a 30 second conversation using 180 degree line, match on action, and shot reverse shot. For our main project, we created the titles and opening for a new 2 minute fiction film. We found planning shots easier having learned techniques in our preliminary task. We improved the use of match on action and shot reverse shot. New techniques like pans and extreme long shots were used to emphasize actions and isolate a character, making our main film more interesting.

After looking back at our preliminary task and then lookin at our actual thriller i find that we have improved quite alot because 1st of all we know who to play the right role e.g. In our preliminary vedio we placed the bad girl as chitra and chanel to play the role as the vunrable, innocent role, this was wrong and confusing because the stereotypical bad guy was big and tall. - 3. Preliminary Task; Shots Another thing that improved in the making is the camera shots. In our preminary task we didnt use as many camera shots that we coulve used.
