This document discusses the pre-extension demonstration and evaluation of improved potato varieties (Bubu and Gudane) in selected districts of the Harari region, Ethiopia, aimed at promoting awareness and improving farmers' skills. The study found that Bubu and Gudane significantly outperformed a local variety in terms of yield, with Bubu yielding 23.8 tons/ha and Gudane 23 tons/ha, compared to 15.3 tons/ha for the local variety, thereby recommending them for scaling up. The findings highlight farmers' preference for the improved varieties based on factors such as tuber yield, marketability, storability, and disease tolerance.
