Mobilization, Guidance and Counseling
A career guidance and counseling center was piloted in Gadchiroli, in which students were
assessed and given career advice. This model was successful and led to increased enrolment
and is being replicated Pan India.
Replicate Gadchiroli Model Pan India:
 Identify specific locations with large need and
demand for our programs
 Conduct large scale testing and counseling
 Streamline youth to centers based on their interest
and aptitude
Student registration and counseling system
 Student registration system has been launched
under which students register for courses via SMS.
All details are stored in the Pratham database,
allowing our counselors to call and guide each
student as well as allow for better performance
management.
25
Our Training Quality & Pedagogy
Pratham Institute has revamped its entire curriculum and
training methodology along a framework of ‘Know and Do’,
making the curriculum entirely practical in nature and
simulating working conditions through measures like longer
daily training durations, etc.
We have developed AV content such as audios and videos which
coupled with internet access are used by students to learn in a
group, with the trainer’s intervention only as a facilitator.
We are servicing customers at many of our locations ensuring
that trainees have daily customer interaction and experience
with solving the actual problems they will face after placement.

26
Our Place & Track Network: Post-Placement Support
Pratham has a ‘Place & Track’ Network which engages with students on a
periodic basis once they are placed at a particular work-site to reduce job
attrition and increase impact of our programs
 To build an effective network in all catchment areas in order to be able to track placed
youth, and provide them with a support system and counseling to reduce attrition
 To improve fee recovery from students
 To conduct an impact assessment study to gather data and evidence around the
effectiveness of the vocational program, and it’s impact on livelihoods and prospects of
graduates as they progress in their careers
 Network of placement coordinators in 17 major cities across India – identified on the
basis of where maximum students have been placed till date and market opportunity
 These coordinators focus on:
 Market scanning and interaction with employers
 Post placement support service to students- settling down assistance and career
counseling
 Recovery of fees
Structure & Processes
Objectives
27
Our ‘Learn Now Pay Later’ Scheme
 Our ‘Learn Now, Pay Later’ scheme allows underprivileged youth to pay an
affordable % of the course fee during the course, and the remainder through
monthly installments post placement.
 Students are categorized into 1 out of 4 levels based on their economic
condition. Based on the level they fall under, the amount a student pays
during the course, ranges from 0% to 50% of the course fees.
The indicators on the right are a
guideline for the level a student
will be categorized under.
Ultimately it is the mobilizer who
has to make a home visit and
recommend the level at which the
student shall fall based on an
evaluation report submitted by
the mobilizer.

Our Training Quality& Pedagogy Pratham Institute has revamped its entire curriculum and training methodology along a framework of ‘Know and Do’, making the curriculum entirely practical in nature and simulating working conditions through measures like longer daily training durations, etc. We have developed AV content such as audios and videos which coupled with internet access are used by students to learn in a group, with the trainer’s intervention only as a facilitator. We are servicing customers at many of our locations ensuring that trainees have daily customer interaction and experience with solving the actual problems they will face after placement. Our ‘Learn NowPay Later’ Scheme  Our ‘Learn Now, Pay Later’ scheme allows underprivileged youth to pay an affordable % of the course fee during the course, and the remainder through monthly installments post placement.  Students are categorized into 1 out of 4 levels based on their economic condition. Based on the level they fall under, the amount a student pays during the course, ranges from 0% to 50% of the course fees. The indicators on the right are a guideline for the level a student will be categorized under. Ultimately it is the mobilizer who has to make a home visit and recommend the level at which the student shall fall based on an evaluation report submitted by the mobilizer. 28
