Museums are exploring new digital technologies to enhance visitor experiences. This includes using multimedia in exhibits as well as more pervasive tech to create interactive experiences throughout museums. The technologies also aim to provide remote experiences for those unable to visit. Different models of online participation are being tried, including motivating user participation and giving access to digital collections online. Examples show how art can intersect with new media through theoretical reviews and analyses of museum digital policies and their attempts at audience participation, inclusion, and democratization.
