 The author wants YOU to figure it out
 Go slowly through the poem, reciting it line by line.
 recite the poem for meaning.
 recite it again for deeper meaning
 recite it again this time looking for things like figurative language
like rhyming patterns, repeated words, metaphors, similes, and
other words that stand out to you
 Does it have a rhythm?
 Try reciting it out loud to What feeling do you get from reciting
the poem?
 What is the message of the poem? If the words are too hard to
understand, take the time to look up the meaning of the words.
 The poem will make much more sense! Now re-recite the poem
looking for hidden meanings.
