ESI is a social security scheme offered by the government of India as per the Employees state Insurance Act,1948.

 The Employees state Insurance Act,1948 is Beneficial and Social Legislation.
 Its Main Aim is to Provide Economic Security to People Who Work in Certain
Factories and Establishments.
 It Provides For Payment of Benefits to Workers in Cases of
Sickness,Maternity,injury,etc.

3. SICKNESS BENEFIT
 Sickness Benefit Represents Periodical Cash Periodical Cash Payments Made to
an IP during the period of certified Sickness Occurring in a Benefit period
when IP requires medical treatment and attendance with abstention form
work on medical grounds.

4. PERMANENT DISABLEMENT BENFIT
 The benefit is paid at the rate of 90% of wage in the form of monthly payment
depending upon the extent of loss of earning capacity as certified by a
medical by a medical board.

5. TEMPORARY DISABLEMENT BENEFIT
 Form day one of entering insurable employment & irrespective of having paid
any contribution in case of employment injury. Temporary Disablement
benefit at the rate of 90% of wage is payable so long as disability continues.

6. MATERNITY BENEFIT
 Maternity benefit for confinement/pregnancy is payable for twenty six weeks,
which is extendable by further one month on medical advice at rate of full
wage subject to contribution for 70 days in the preceding two contribution
periods.
