19/04/13 Researching the codes and conventions of different adverts and how they are filmed e.g. what
camera shots are used and why.
26/04/13 This week I researched about Neutrogena and its code and conventions it uses. I watch their
different adverts on YouTube and looked at the lighting the actors and the camera techniques
they use. I also wrote a synopsis on what I would do for advert and what I would include.
02/05/13 Here I drew up my storyboard so I knew what to do and what shots came next. I also wrote down
what to say. I also wrote up my equipment booking forms which I sent to Chris Godwin.
10/05/13 This is when I started filming which I finished in a day. I went to film my advert at Olivia’s house
which I had to take the bus too. Matt and Olivia were both actors in my advert and were very easy
to work with.
16/05/13 This week I uploaded all of my clips onto the computer and then imported them into adobe
premiere. I the found out that I had a few problems with some of the clips that I had filmed so to
resolve this I took photos which I used instead of the clips. This made my life so much easier due
to the fact I could edit the pictures and put text on top of them.
23/05/13 I finished importing the pictures I had taken to week before and after editing the rest of my video
and then began editing them. I edited my photos in Photoshop which required me to remove the
background of each image and import a black background which made my product stand out
more. I also edit words on top of my images so that the audience can read about the product and
what it does to your skin.
30/05/13 Here I once again edited my video making sure it reaches 30 seconds. I also found a song on the
computer which was perfect for my advert. I used the music as a backing track just like the original
Neutrogena advert does.
06/06/13 I went to record my voice over in the radio studio that college has to offer. The software I used
was called Synergy. Here I recorded Olivia and Matt saying the dialogue I gave them to say. I had a
lot of trouble using Synergy due to the fact I didn’t know how to save my work and the software
itself was very confusing to use.
