This study examined the effects of different exercise programs on blood lipids and cholesterol levels. 111 sedentary subjects with dyslipidemia were randomly assigned to a control group or one of three exercise groups that varied in intensity (high vs moderate) and amount (high vs low) of weekly exercise. The results showed that exercise significantly reduced small LDL particles and increased average LDL size compared to the control group. The high amount, high intensity group showed the most significant improvement in HDL cholesterol concentration. Overall, the study found that a higher amount of exercise was more beneficial than a lower amount or no exercise for improving lipid profile, though the optimal intensity remains unclear.

Material & Methods: The present study was carried out in 50 females between the age group of 18-22 yrs.

oxygen uptake (VO2 max) was compared between cases and controls by using Queen’ college step test.(
Harward step test) .
Results: The VO2 max was higher in female athletes than non-athletes.
Conclusion: The present study showed VO2 max levels more in female athletes. Now a days, physical inactivity
is seen among students due to sedentary lifestyle which may lead to many health problems. Hence, we suggest
that students should get involved in sports and it should make a compulsory subject in colleges.

study was to estimate the serum levels of Cystatin C in individuals with normal BMI, and obese, aged between
18-39 Yrs and to compare the levels of serum Cystatin C among these individuals and to correlate the levels of
serum Cystatin C with cardio metabolic risk factors.
Material & Methods: The study population was taken from healthy volunteers of Mysore city, aged between 18-
39 years of either sex. The study population was divided into 2 groups based on BMI. Each group contains
sample size of 45. Fasting serum sample was analyzed for Blood glucose, Total cholesterol, Total Triglycerides,
Direct HDL cholesterol, Direct LDL Cholesterol by enzymatic method and serum Cystatin-C by
immunoturbidimetric method using auto analyser.
Results: The serum Cystatin C levels was significantly increased in obese groups, p value<0.001. The mean
serum Cystatin C levels in normal BMI group was 0.78±0.03, and in Obese group is 1.15±0.09. In the study
serum Cystatin C showed a positive correlation with serum glucose(r=0.61) serum triglycerides (r=0.7),
Atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) (r=0.80), TCHOL: HDL (r=0.71), HDL: LDL (r=0.70) respectively and
negative correlation with serum HDL (r=-0.52)

—Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a prominent health problem and micro-albunemia is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in these CVDs in developing countries. This case control study was designed to find out burden of micro-albuminuria in non-diabetic non-hypertensive CVD patients and its associating factors. In this study, 50 Non Diabetic Non Hypertensive CVD Patients were submitted to a complete clinical and laboratory evaluation. Patients with known micro-albuminuria, UTI and congestive heart failure were excluded. These cases were compared with matched controls. It was observed that 36% of non-diabetic, non-hypertensive CVD patients had microalbuminuric by Clinitek method. There was a positive association between dyslipidaemia and micro-albuminuria was also observed in this study. The microalbuminuric CVD patients (non-diabetic, non-hypertensive) had significantly elevated levels of serum cholesterol (p<0.05), triglycerides (p<0.05) and LDL (p<0.05) as compared to normoalbuminuric patients. It can be concluded from this study that the micro-albuminuria was present in more than one third of non-diabetic non-hypertensive CVD patients. Older age group, Body Mass Index (BMI) and lipid profile had significant relationship with the presence of micro-albuminuria.

The overall effect of exercise on HDL, LDL, total cholesterol and total triglyceride profiles can be better solidified by analyzing the effect of various exercise intensities in combination of energy output rather than just the overall effect of exercise on those four functional properties. It should be understood that the production of lipids vary in response upon the duration of exercise, therefore influencing the relationship between C-reactive proteins and blood lipids. In order to calculate a more accurate analysis, blood lipid measurements should be taken at different maximum oxygen consumption sessions and intensities. In 2012, Tsao conducted a study that analyzed the effects of different exercise intensities comparable to C-reactive proteins and blood lipid levels. In the Tsao’s research it was found that LDL, total cholesterol and total triglyceride profiles had not changed with the influence of exercise intensity.3 On the contrary, as the maximum oxygen consumption increased from 25% to 65% to 85% during the exercise sessions, the HDL levels simultaneously increased from -0.42 HDL to -0.13 HDL to 0.23 HDL levels.3
According to a study conducted by Chaudhary in 2011, it can be stated that both aerobic exercise and resistance training influence the effect on HDL-C in the blood, thus perpetuating an effect on LDL-C in the blood. For the HDL cholesterol to increase, aerobic training (especially low intensity aerobic training) is first performed.1 The elevation of HDL cholesterol can then be inversely related to the risk of coronary heart disease in the participating individual due to the transportation HDL conducts. 1 As aerobic training continues, the triglyceride concentration decreases, therefore increasing the utilization of free fatty acids in the body.1 Subsequently through this process, the levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) decreases.1
The previous studies conducted by Tsao (2012) and Chaudhary (2012) focused on the effects of sporadic training on HDL-C levels. In comparison to the previous studies, the Musa (2009) study showed a difference in their study by increasing the duration of the work-rest interval intertwined with the eight week high-intensity exercise program conducted on untrained young adult me. The intention of the Musa (2009) study was to raise the subject’s HDL-C levels while simultaneously decreasing the total cholesterol levels and the atherogenic index (TC/HDL-C).2 If this study could prove the researcher’s hypothesis, then one could propose alternative exercise methods that would further reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.2

In this slide deck, I describe the up-to-date evidence on Low Carbs and heart health. The evidence is based mainly on two recent meta-analyses (Hession et al. & Kodama et al.) and prospective cohort studies. Limited evidence on renal aspects is also demonstrated.
This cross sectional study was conducted at Department of Biochemistry, Govt. Medical College Srinagar Kashmir. A total of 120 Kashmiri Type 2 diabetic patients and 30 normal controls were randomly selected. Diabetic dyslipidaemia is characterized by raised triglycerides, low high density lipoprotein and raised low density lipoprotein. Determination of serum lipid levels in people with diabetes is considered a standard of care because detection and treatment of dyslipidaemia is one means of reducing cardiovascular disease risk. The lipid profiles and lipoprotein levels of 120 known diabetic patients were studied. Total cholesterol (TC), Triacylglycerol’s (TG) Low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels were assayed for each group using standard biochemical methods. Dyslipidaemia was defined using the national cholesterol education programme – adult treatment panel III (NCEP-AT III) criteria. BMI and waist and hip circumferences were measured.

In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum

AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).

3. Cholesterol is only slightly soluble in water and blood so is transported by lipoproteins VLDL, IDL, HDL and LDL to the tissues. Elevated cholesterol in the blood is detected by abnormalities in lipoprotein levels.

6. Samples: Blood plasma samples were taken after fasting and were analyzied by a nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to measure LDL, HDL, IDL, TC and TGs concentrations including sub-classes. Density-gradient ultracentrifugation was used to separate lipoprotein and cholesterol fractions. Samples were blinded. Data analysis: Analysis of variance using Statview or SAS software, then a post hoc analysis of the data after the experiment concluded was used as the main analysis to compare exercise groups to control.
7. Results Exercise training did not have a significant effect on LDL however, significantly reduced the concentration of small LD particles, increasing the average size of LDL.
