The Dust Bowl ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
The Dust Bowl, which existed mainly between 1930 to 1936, brought nothing but fear and grief. It was also a major catastrophe that pushed down on the burden of the Great Depression. This horrible sight is what people had lived through, every single day, for six years straight.
In the map above, the area indicated with red shows the focal point of the dreaded Dust Bowl. As you can see, it has hit mainly in the central region of the United States of America. Many cities surrounding this focal point suffered horrid casualties to both people and their property.
Gigantic clouds of dust rolled across the prairies, as towns and cities sit hopeless. Many buildings suffered great damage due to the brutal wind gusts. Many repairs were needed, and there was a lot of work ahead of them.
Many civilians scrambled as they witnessed the huge dust clouds rolling towards them. People would search hastily for any sign of shelter to keep safe from the storm. The only option for them was to run away in fear.
Families were forced to leave their own homes and belongings behind as they ran away from the treacherous dust storms. Many homes and people were lost in the Dust Bowl, leaving some families struggling to survive.
If there was nowhere to run, some even lived on the road. More and more people became homeless because of the Dust Storm. These people just added to the thousands of those already homeless due to the Great Depression.
This is the reason why so many people were forced to leave. If those people didn’t desert their homes, they might have been buried just as all of their belongings did. Properties were trashed and lost, leaving some with absolutely nothing.
Even during the Dust Bowl, people would try to go back to their homes. As they would travel back, they soon found out that the storm had no mercy on anyone’s life. The intensity level was rising and more help was needed; children were dragged along with adults to work and some were even worked to death.
Children and their parents were crushed and left with nothing. Parents not only felt the burden being placed on themselves, but felt extreme grief for their kids as well. Mothers were hit the hardest in the Dust Bowl, due to the responsibility of their family as well as their own lives.
Children were restricted of playing outside due to the dry and arid conditions. All the fun games and adventures that kids would play were stopped with the evil Dust Bowl and its horrid results.
Still, somehow, people were still dedicated to starting over and creating a new life. There was a whole lot of work to be done, but people all around the country came to help overcome this downfall. No matter what the case, as long as we work together, no challenge is too big to be beaten down.
