2. What is the Dustbowl?
The Dustbowl is a dust storm that messed up
farm lands in Mid-West America.
3. Cause of Dustbowl
The cause of the dust bowl is a mixture of
natural drought and poor farming. Farmers that
moved to Mid-West dug up over 5.2 million
acres of land, this is called over-cultivation.
Then a drought came which ruined all crops,
and then strong winds blew up the dust.
4. Effect of Dustbowl
The states that were messed up were New
Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, and
Colorado. They experienced severe droughts
and farmers crops could not grow.
5. Effects of Dustbowl
Many farmers lost their businesses. In 1934,
over 10 percent of farmers had to sell their
farms and in the Great Plains 21 percent of
farmers were getting money from the
government.
