William Butler Yeats was an Irish poet and playwright born in Dublin in 1865. He helped create a Celtic style of literature and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923. The award increased sales of his books and allowed him to pay off debts. Some of his most notable works included Mosada, John Sherman and Dhoya, and Four Years. He co-founded the National Irish Theatre in 1901 and drew inspiration from Celtic mythology for his plays.
