POVERTY
Done by : Shawn , Jia Wang, Rui Shen. Ren Hao
WHAT IS POVERTY?
• Poverty is the pronounced deprivation of well being. It is the inability to satisfy one's basic
needs because one lacks income to buy services or from lack of access to services.
• The World Bank estimated 1.29 billion people were living in absolute poverty in 2008. Of
these, about 400 million people in absolute poverty lived in India and 173 million people
    in China.
• Eg, when other country have earthquake, Singapore Armed Forces sent some men to
their country to aid the survivors, Red Cross donate canned food, blankets and clothes to
    them.
WHY ARE PEOPLE POOR?
• One of the reasons why people are poor is because they did not
have a proper education when they were young. This made them
to be unable to qualify for better jobs with better pay or even a job.

• Another reason is people spend more than what they have on
things that they do not need and they end up having no money. In
order to survive, they would have to borrow money from others
and most of the time, they would be unable to pay back their debts
  and they would become poor.
CARE

• Care is one of the group that help to fight poverty.
    Care:
    Respond to Emergencies by
Addressing immediate survival needs directly following an emergency, and to help
    individuals.
    Expand Economic Opportunity by
Helping women and families improve their household income through increased access
to financial and non-financial services, participation in village savings and loan
associations, market linkages and diversified livelihoods.
    Enhancing Water Access by
Helping communities build and maintain clean water systems and latrines. The goal of
our program is to reduce the health risks of water-related diseases and to increase the
earning potential of households by saving time otherwise spent gathering water

HOW DOES POVERTY AFFECT US
• Poverty around the world will affect us badly. For
example, if an earthquake were to happen in
Thailand, they would not have enough supplies
for themselves making them unable to supply us
with their rice. Therefore we would not have
  enough food in Singapore.
