This movieopeningfocuseson a coloured brother and sister whom
are fugitives hidingfrom the soldiers who servethe dictator. The
openingbegins with an establishing shot of an estate. It then goes
into a shot of the sun, and a red balloon being held by a younggirl
who is looking outsideof her window. Thereis then a POV shot of a
hand approachingthe younggirl’s shoulder. The person is then
revealed to be her brother who is scoldingher for looking outof the
window. Theopeningthen progresses to a mid shot of the brother
looking outsideof the window into the grey and dark world, which he
sees, and then proceedsto close the drapes. The siblings then hold
hands, and there is then a close up shot of the little girl’s teddy bear,
and then an extreme close up of the teddy’seyes. The camera cuts to
the doorknobaswe hear a diegetic sound of someonebanging on the
door. The shot then cuts to an extreme close up of the little girls eyes,
her brothers and the soldiersoutside, and then to a hand attempting
to open the door. There is then a countdown, followed by feetkicking
the door in and the little girl droppingher teddy bear. There is then a
long shot of the soldiersentering the house, followed by them seeing
the teddy bear on the floor. The screen is then completely black and
all we see is the glowingeyes of the brother and sister hiding in the
closet, as well as their lighter, as it eventually runsout. There is then
an over the shoulder shot of the soldiersgetting ready to shot into
the closet which the siblings are hidingin, and when they do, there is
a close up of the door as blood spills outand the lighter dropping.
The title of the movie then appearsand there is then a mid-shot of a
man readingthe newspaper with the event that occurred in the pre-
credit sequence on the frontpage. Throughoutthis whole sequence
the credits of the movie are appearing. A little girl then goes and
picks up a bag, which contains the sameteddy bear that the previous
girl had and proceedsto hold hands with her father and walk off.
