An analysis of a 2 minute title sequence of school media project

2. Set and Characters
Set in dimly lit, brick locker room (maybe lair?)
Two Hostages and A Kidnapper (Possible third party on cellphone?)
Hostage doesn’t seem confused about the situation
Daytime?
Hostage possibly being blackmailed

3. Tension and Enigma
Starts with a close-up shot of the hostage’s eye focused on someone/something intensely
Before the kidnapper comes into the shot you can see his shadow before, shows to the audience
that he is some sort of threat and is supposed to be intimidating
Eventually, the kidnapper puts a phone to the victim’s ear. This leads us to question who is on the
other end of the phone and also why is this person being kidnapped.
Kidnapper picks up mug from picture of little girl, leads audience to question his intentions?
Kidnapper walks over broken glass, sound makes an earie sound
At the end we hear a little girl scream “Daddy!” and the screen cuts to black

5. Rest of Plot line
Due to the tone of this opening sequence it seems to be that the plot line would follow man try
to rescue his daughter. We can guess this because:
- Near the beggining of opening sequence we see the kidnapper pick up a mug off of a
picture of presummebly the victims daughter. This tells us that the kidnapper had been
hunting the daughter and father for a while.
- At the end of the opening sequence we see that the kidnapper has the little girl and is liev
streaming her to her father and at the end of the sequence we hear her scream and the
screen cuts to black.
