POSSIBILITY: Congress Comeback In 2019
Bypassing Rahul Gandhi Issue And Checkmating Brilliance Of Narendra Modi…!
Is it appropriate, even necessary to speak out; especially on a probability, which most feel
is a hypothesis drawn from blank…?
… Deep within, in the primary substructure of the conscious self, this question always lurks
around the innocent and compassionate emotion, which definitively wants to be sure of the
utility and fruition of any words spelt out…
This emotion has sure and certain righteousness and precision. The uncertainties and
embedded troubles of the navigation of communication apart, the primary question is –
when reception of expression and meaningfulness of communication rest with listener and
not speaker, how can words be allowed to journey ahead without a sense of onus and
organization. Even the most compassionate and innocently affectionate words may happen
to be instinctive and presupposed culprit of aggression. It has been, in the history of
humanity…!
… When even silence often stands guilty of the offence of entrenched antagonism and sado-
masochism, words naturally tend to appear as prima facie offenders of hostility.
It seems; realism – as a subjective self accepts – is brain’s choice (mostly randomized) of
elements from the ambient milieu. Therefore, both ‘Fact & Fiction’ are equally entitled to
being Realism. There are both tangible and intangible elements in any milieu.
Consciousness (subjective self) as the navigation mapping mechanism, facilitated by the
brain, accepts both elements with equal ease.
Somehow, science now confirms, thinking and thought processes of humans are seldom
objective and logical as thinking is a complex process, involving more than 100 elements of
intangible benchmarks and ideas. The milieus shape and impacts much of the thought
processes and when socio-cultural and political-economic milieus are reactionary and
charged up, it is almost impossible for brain states to churn up symmetrical and logically
objective thinking…
This apart, there always is this bottomline sanity in all eventuality that people may or may
not accept an idea or thought but, it is their own brain mechanism that they also cannot
remain unaffected by it. So, milieus must have all thoughts and ideas and they must remain
assigned to dialectics of evolution in time and space. What may sound a futility or stupidity,
may evolve as utility and sanity in future time and space. This bottomline faith makes it
possible to say, what is being said here…
… moreover, the democratic principles and liberal mind traditions always have this humble
and innocuous advocacy in favor of a ‘minority’ idea, as it ensures, there is never a tyranny
of majoritarianism…
It is said, ‘yes’ and ‘no’ both have a precarious relationship. A ‘yes’ makes it possible for ‘no’
to feel challenged and evolve alternatives to stand as ‘yes’ in future and a ‘no’ extends this
much needed energy to ‘yes’ to establish its utility. That is why, in life, both yes and no must
remain side by side and keep competing. Democracies must also have both. The opposition
is therefore equally retains the same value, as is that of the ruling entity. Balance and
holism has always been the core utility of life and living excellence and wellness…
When, a case is made out for turning the ‘No’ to Congress into ‘Yes’, it does not necessarily
mean, a ‘No’ is definitive for BJP. In utmost logical objective, when a case is made out for
Congress making a comeback in 2019 general elections, there are still loads of hypotheses
and plethora of actions that is needed to be done. We list these issues, just for the sake of
good health of democracy and possible wellness of the nation. Below, we list possible
aspects of Congress coming back to power, in good contest. All aspects are open for healthy
and same logically objective discussion –
1. From the point of view of Constitution of India, a Prime Minister is one among
equals in group of ministers. Also, there is ‘Collective Responsibility’ of Cabinet,
never the prime minister alone. All decisions are ideally made within Cabinet. This
political culture of a prime minister being identified as party and government is
rather new to India. One man, or tow-three taking key decisions for nations as big as
India, ‘bypassing the bulwark’ of Cabinet’s collective responsibility, is a rather
dubious idealism, as was made evident in ‘demonetization’. Congress is always
rejected by many youth saying, Rahul Gandhi is not prime minister material. It
seems, primary opposition to a Congress comeback is about rejection of Rahul
Gandhi and his comparison with Narendra Modi. The fact remains, Congress has so
many stalwarts and very experienced leaders, in no way less competent than BJP’s,
who can form a good Cabinet with Rahul Gandhi as prime minister. It is rather good
that current mode of PM-Centric politics and governance is replaced by the old and
tested ‘Collective Responsibility’ of Cabinet. It is for Congress to checkmate this
point of comparison of RG with NM, making it sound that Congress leadership is not
about RG but a band of worthy and competent leadership. It is for Congress to
counter the populist viewpoint that governance is not about who the prime minister
is but it is about how good and competent is the Cabinet and ministers. Time for
Congress to stand up tall its array of good leaders. The Congress have to skillfully
bypass the stupidity of standing RG against NM, rather standing a future Cabinet
against Modi-Centric governance system of current government…
2. Many political pundits of old times have insisted that in India, any non-Congress
government is installed not as a result of ‘Yes’ to it but as angry ‘No’ to Congress. It
needs to be understood. This is something far more deeper than just anti-
incumbency. People of India always have had this love-hate relationship with
Congress, as all people have with the elders of their family. India’s political history
clearly suggests that Congress has always been there in the choice of average
people, over the generations. If we do a ‘brand personification’ of Congress and
current BJP, we can see that Congress is visualized as some ‘grandparent’ figure in a
family. This is the strength of Congress, as well as its biggest threat. As the reality
stands, as any ruling dispensation cannot be good enough to mitigate the cosmic
troubles of such high proportions that India had and still has, the people periodically
feel angered against Congress and this paves way for a non-Congress outfit to install
itself. In 2014 also, BJP led the negative campaign against ‘Congress Failure’. From a
perspective, it may be accepted that there was a definitive ‘No’ to Congress, as it had
ruled long enough in 10-year continuity. This ‘No’ however did not always mean a
definitive ‘Yes’ to BJP. The BJP, especially Mr. Modi however must be credited to lead
the campaign well enough to mobilize the anger against Congress with precision.
Now, as the narrative of the current government has changed from ‘We shall do in
60 months what Congress did in 60 years’ to ‘There is no alternative available To
Mr. Modi’ and ‘He must be given some more time’, it seems evident that the anger
against Congress may not be as intense as it was in 2014 and also, the realism about
‘governing a colossal like India’ has dawned upon many. Therefore, the ‘Yes’ or ‘No’
for Congress needs a second thought. The Congress must brace itself to install this
weakness of BJP in 2019 campaign, which must start now, with all intensity…
3. There is a narrative, which political pundits have maintained, but Congress has not
been able to cash on to. It says, the ‘strong mandate’ or ‘definitive expectation’ from
current government and its avowed ‘strong’ leadership of Mr. Modi was – Drastic
And Deep-Seated Reforms’ in all sectors, especially in governance and economy.
This mandate and expectation is now said to be losing its sheen. It is gradually being
made out that current dispensation may be better than Congress but it has not
delivered what it was mandated for. BJP claim of doing in ‘60 months’, what
Congress did in 60 years, needed much stronger and deeper reforms in system,
which seems definitively missing, as 40 months of the 60 have passed. Within the
government and BJP, the narrative has already changed in the third year. The ruling
mechanism is saying and even the prime minster has said it in Parliament, hinting at
‘bureaucratic inefficiency’ for the anticipated ‘slow work’ of the current government.
This is what was surely not expected of and mandated to the current government in
2014. Now, the same people are lamenting bureaucratic inefficiency and red-tapism
as cause of slow and insufficient delivery of governmental fruits. Here is the chance
for Congress. The UPA was criticized primarily for ‘policy paralyses’ and slow
delivery of government goods. As the current government and its leadership has
started lamenting the same disease, which voted Congress out of power, Congress
has a chance riding on this horse and promise a better deal for voters in 2019.
Congress has the team of very good young as well as experienced people, who can
make a roadmap to 2019 elections, building on failures of current government,
which it was mandated for. It is already evident that Modi government had eaten
much more than it could swallow. Congress has not skillfully played this ‘failure’. It
needs to…
4. The biggest plus for Congress and biggest minus for current government however is
where the major votes are – the rurban and rural India. Congress traditionally has
had better roots here. The BJP in 2014 had very successfully installed anti-
Congressism in these vast layers in rurban India, thanks to magic of Mr. Modi’s
speeches. As Mr. Modi has been criticized in past about the partialism of his vision
and model of growth (Gujarat Model), the last three years have sort of established
the feeling that current government is more Urban-Centric, Industry-Centric, Tech-
Centric and Business-Centric. The current government required to perform a lot
more heroically and deepseatedly for rural, agro sectors and small/medium town
based small and medium enterprises, but it could not. This has always been
Congress forte as still, even current government is blamed for continuing primarily
with Congress schemes and policies. If Congress could regain its lost footage in
rurban and rural India, it has better chance in 2019…
5. There is this fringe feeling among many political commentators that current
government may be credited with doing better than previous government in some
areas but not only its credentials in economic front is moot but it is repeatedly being
felt that the ‘social cost’ of economic advantages of the current government is too
high. A large section of ‘rationalists’ and political observer feel that current
government has unsettled the old and established social fabric of India, even if they
have worked their ways marginally better than the previous government. The
Congress has been talking about this issue but its narrative is very unfocused and
not in battle-mode. The Congress needs to voice up and reverberate profoundly the
‘alternative’ voices against the current NDA government’s social orchestrations…
There are some small aspects also, which can be listed here but primary issue at hand for
Congress is to deal skillfully the primary issue of pitting Rahul Gandhi against the charisma
of Narendra Modi. Rahul Gandhi cannot win battle against Narendra Modi, even if he and
his government lose shades of popular support. Therefore, the primary thing for Congress
is to play up the card of ‘Collective’ strength of Congress leadership and desist from
projecting Rahul Gandhi as someone pitted against Narendra Modi in one to one battle.
Congress needs to stand and publicize a team of leaders, who take on the might of Modi
collectively on daily basis. Rahul Gandhi must be made to stand behind the ‘front army’ of
leaders like Shashi Tahroor, Chidambaram, Kapil Sibbal, Scindia, Pilot, etc. Probably, it is
high time, within Congress and outside, it mobilizes the ‘rationalists’, liberals, alternative
thinkers and activists to join the battle against BJP and make it sound that the attack is not
on Mr. Modi, but on BJP. People of India probably do not like personal attacks. They can
accept that BJP has failed but shall not accept Mr. Modi can. His magic is still in the minds of
average person. He remains the wizard of populist politics…
Rather, it is time Congress hits the road with a massive campaign, showing the faces of
their future ministers to people and throw them in battle field not against BJP but Mr. Modi,
to install in popular minds that Congress has the team; it believes in ‘collective
responsibility’, as against the one-man army of Mr. Modi, which can be a better alternative
than One-man show of current ruling mechanism. There definitively are brilliant men and
women in Congress, who can be declared as faces of ‘Collective Strength’ of Congress
leadership. If people, especially the rurban India and youth are made to feel and believe
that Congress revivalism does not mean Rahul Gandhi as ‘replacement’ to Narendra Modi
but it means a new brand of politics by new and talented team, with Rahul Gandhi as ‘One
among equals’, the Congress has a chance. Congress must make it feel to average person
that Congress does not mean Rahul Gandhi, rather it means a fresh new leadership of real
intelligence, better vision, mixed up with its old strength. The ‘brand personification’ of
Congress must change and it is high time Congress starts work on this psychological aspect
of the political battle, which it can win in 2019…
If Congress has to make it, it shall have to deal with psyche of people and popular
perceptions about the party and its top leadership. Therefore, it should focus on doing the
right things right away. Two years is just round the corner.
The Congress has to always remember, they have to compete the magic and mastery of the
brilliance of a strategist like Narendra Modi. He has till now been step or two ahead of
Congress, more because of his own strategies and also because, Congress has always
missed the chances, whenever Mr. Modi could not make it big. This has to change, if it
wishes to have a chance in 2019. Best of luck to everyone… May the best compete so that
finally, India could benefit…!
# The author wishes to say it very humbly that the post has been written with India’s wellness
and excellence in mind. Everyone is invited to add to this idea. Everyone of us has something in
us, which we can contribute, for the wellness and excellence of India… welcome…!

Possibility: Congress Comeback In 2019

Is it appropriate, even necessary to speak out; especially on a probability, which most feel is a hypothesis drawn from blank…? … Deep within, in the primary substructure of the conscious self, this question always lurks around the innocent and compassionate emotion, which definitively wants to be sure of the utility and fruition of any words spelt out… This emotion has sure and certain righteousness and precision. Somehow, science now confirms, thinking and thought processes of humans are seldom objective and logical as thinking is a complex process, involving more than 100 elements of intangible benchmarks and ideas. In utmost logical objective, when a case is made out for Congress making a comeback in 2019 general elections, there are still loads of hypotheses and plethora of actions that is needed to be done. We list these issues, just for the sake of good health of democracy and possible wellness of the nation. Below, we list possible aspects of Congress coming back to power, in good contest. All aspects are open for healthy and same logically objective discussion – 1. From the point of view of Constitution of India, a Prime Minister is one among equals in group of ministers. Also, there is ‘Collective Responsibility’ of Cabinet, never the prime minister alone. All decisions are ideally made within Cabinet. This political culture of a prime minister being identified as party and government is rather new to India. One man, or tow-three taking key decisions for nations as big as India, ‘bypassing the bulwark’ of Cabinet’s collective responsibility, is a rather dubious idealism, as was made evident in ‘demonetization’. Congress is always rejected by many youth saying, Rahul Gandhi is not prime minister material. It seems, primary opposition to a Congress comeback is about rejection of Rahul Gandhi and his comparison with Narendra Modi. The fact remains, Congress has so many stalwarts and very experienced leaders, in no way less competent than BJP’s, who can form a good Cabinet with Rahul Gandhi as prime minister. It is rather good that current mode of PM-Centric politics and governance is replaced by the old and tested ‘Collective Responsibility’ of Cabinet. It is for Congress to checkmate this point of comparison of RG with NM, making it sound that Congress leadership is not about RG but a band of worthy and competent leadership. It is for Congress to counter the populist viewpoint that governance is not about who the prime minister is but it is about how good and competent is the Cabinet and ministers. Time for Congress to stand up tall its array of good leaders. The Congress have to skillfully
  • 4. bypass the stupidity of standing RG against NM, rather standing a future Cabinet against Modi-Centric governance system of current government… 2. Many political pundits of old times have insisted that in India, any non-Congress government is installed not as a result of ‘Yes’ to it but as angry ‘No’ to Congress. It needs to be understood. This is something far more deeper than just anti- incumbency. People of India always have had this love-hate relationship with Congress, as all people have with the elders of their family. India’s political history clearly suggests that Congress has always been there in the choice of average people, over the generations. If we do a ‘brand personification’ of Congress and current BJP, we can see that Congress is visualized as some ‘grandparent’ figure in a family. This is the strength of Congress, as well as its biggest threat. As the reality stands, as any ruling dispensation cannot be good enough to mitigate the cosmic troubles of such high proportions that India had and still has, the people periodically feel angered against Congress and this paves way for a non-Congress outfit to install itself. In 2014 also, BJP led the negative campaign against ‘Congress Failure’. From a perspective, it may be accepted that there was a definitive ‘No’ to Congress, as it had ruled long enough in 10-year continuity. This ‘No’ however did not always mean a definitive ‘Yes’ to BJP. The BJP, especially Mr. Modi however must be credited to lead the campaign well enough to mobilize the anger against Congress with precision. Now, as the narrative of the current government has changed from ‘We shall do in 60 months what Congress did in 60 years’ to ‘There is no alternative available To Mr. Modi’ and ‘He must be given some more time’, it seems evident that the anger against Congress may not be as intense as it was in 2014 and also, the realism about ‘governing a colossal like India’ has dawned upon many. Therefore, the ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ for Congress needs a second thought. The Congress must brace itself to install this weakness of BJP in 2019 campaign, which must start now, with all intensity… 3. There is a narrative, which political pundits have maintained, but Congress has not been able to cash on to. It says, the ‘strong mandate’ or ‘definitive expectation’ from current government and its avowed ‘strong’ leadership of Mr. Modi was – Drastic
  • 5. And Deep-Seated Reforms’ in all sectors, especially in governance and economy. This mandate and expectation is now said to be losing its sheen. It is gradually being made out that current dispensation may be better than Congress but it has not delivered what it was mandated for. BJP claim of doing in ‘60 months’, what Congress did in 60 years, needed much stronger and deeper reforms in system, which seems definitively missing, as 40 months of the 60 have passed. Within the government and BJP, the narrative has already changed in the third year. The ruling mechanism is saying and even the prime minster has said it in Parliament, hinting at ‘bureaucratic inefficiency’ for the anticipated ‘slow work’ of the current government. This is what was surely not expected of and mandated to the current government in 2014. Now, the same people are lamenting bureaucratic inefficiency and red-tapism as cause of slow and insufficient delivery of governmental fruits. Here is the chance for Congress. The UPA was criticized primarily for ‘policy paralyses’ and slow delivery of government goods. As the current government and its leadership has started lamenting the same disease, which voted Congress out of power, Congress has a chance riding on this horse and promise a better deal for voters in 2019. Congress has the team of very good young as well as experienced people, who can make a roadmap to 2019 elections, building on failures of current government, which it was mandated for. It is already evident that Modi government had eaten much more than it could swallow. Congress has not skillfully played this ‘failure’. It needs to… 4. The biggest plus for Congress and biggest minus for current government however is where the major votes are – the rurban and rural India. Congress traditionally has had better roots here. The BJP in 2014 had very successfully installed anti- Congressism in these vast layers in rurban India, thanks to magic of Mr. Modi’s speeches. As Mr. Modi has been criticized in past about the partialism of his vision and model of growth (Gujarat Model), the last three years have sort of established the feeling that current government is more Urban-Centric, Industry-Centric, Tech- Centric and Business-Centric. The current government required to perform a lot more heroically and deepseatedly for rural, agro sectors and small/medium town
  • 6. based small and medium enterprises, but it could not. This has always been Congress forte as still, even current government is blamed for continuing primarily with Congress schemes and policies. If Congress could regain its lost footage in rurban and rural India, it has better chance in 2019… 5. There is this fringe feeling among many political commentators that current government may be credited with doing better than previous government in some areas but not only its credentials in economic front is moot but it is repeatedly being felt that the ‘social cost’ of economic advantages of the current government is too high. A large section of ‘rationalists’ and political observer feel that current government has unsettled the old and established social fabric of India, even if they have worked their ways marginally better than the previous government. The Congress has been talking about this issue but its narrative is very unfocused and not in battle-mode. The Congress needs to voice up and reverberate profoundly the ‘alternative’ voices against the current NDA government’s social orchestrations… There are some small aspects also, which can be listed here but primary issue at hand for Congress is to deal skillfully the primary issue of pitting Rahul Gandhi against the charisma of Narendra Modi. Rahul Gandhi cannot win battle against Narendra Modi, even if he and his government lose shades of popular support. Therefore, the primary thing for Congress is to play up the card of ‘Collective’ strength of Congress leadership and desist from projecting Rahul Gandhi as someone pitted against Narendra Modi in one to one battle. Congress needs to stand and publicize a team of leaders, who take on the might of Modi collectively on daily basis. Rahul Gandhi must be made to stand behind the ‘front army’ of leaders like Shashi Tahroor, Chidambaram, Kapil Sibbal, Scindia, Pilot, etc. Probably, it is high time, within Congress and outside, it mobilizes the ‘rationalists’, liberals, alternative thinkers and activists to join the battle against BJP and make it sound that the attack is not on Mr. Modi, but on BJP. People of India probably do not like personal attacks. They can accept that BJP has failed but shall not accept Mr. Modi can. His magic is still in the minds of average person. He remains the wizard of populist politics…
  • 7. Rather, it is time Congress hits the road with a massive campaign, showing the faces of their future ministers to people and throw them in battle field not against BJP but Mr. Modi, to install in popular minds that Congress has the team; it believes in ‘collective responsibility’, as against the one-man army of Mr. Modi, which can be a better alternative than One-man show of current ruling mechanism. There definitively are brilliant men and women in Congress, who can be declared as faces of ‘Collective Strength’ of Congress leadership. If people, especially the rurban India and youth are made to feel and believe that Congress revivalism does not mean Rahul Gandhi as ‘replacement’ to Narendra Modi but it means a new brand of politics by new and talented team, with Rahul Gandhi as ‘One among equals’, the Congress has a chance. Congress must make it feel to average person that Congress does not mean Rahul Gandhi, rather it means a fresh new leadership of real intelligence, better vision, mixed up with its old strength. The ‘brand personification’ of Congress must change and it is high time Congress starts work on this psychological aspect of the political battle, which it can win in 2019… If Congress has to make it, it shall have to deal with psyche of people and popular perceptions about the party and its top leadership. Therefore, it should focus on doing the right things right away. Two years is just round the corner. The Congress has to always remember, they have to compete the magic and mastery of the brilliance of a strategist like Narendra Modi. He has till now been step or two ahead of Congress, more because of his own strategies and also because, Congress has always missed the chances, whenever Mr. Modi could not make it big. This has to change, if it wishes to have a chance in 2019. Best of luck to everyone… May the best compete so that finally, India could benefit…! # The author wishes to say it very humbly that the post has been written with India’s wellness and excellence in mind. Everyone is invited to add to this idea. Everyone of us has something in us, which we can contribute, for the wellness and excellence of India… welcome…!
