Theme Of Dreams In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Since the beginning of time, every being on Earth has slept. Along with sleeping, dreams appear.
From the mind, dreams come and can often show one s deepest thoughts. These dreams have
endless interpretations and an impact on future actions. Because dreams can mean anything and are
the foundation for more intense feelings, dreams were used in the earliest form of literature. The
Epic of Gilgameshuses the concept of dreams to explain Gilgamesh s future ambitions. Gilgamesh
s dreams provide visions compiled of different ideas and the way he interprets those dreams affect
the decisions he makes.
In one of Gilgamesh s dreams, he views a meteor, fell down from heaven (Sanders 2). Then his
mother, Ninsun, announces it is Gilgamesh s brother, Enkidu. However, Ninsun takes from his
dream that she created Enkidu and he will love Gilgamesh forever. These discoveries indicate
whoever is the meteor is going to be Gilgamesh s family. Although Gilgamesh feels loved, he
doesn t feel the companionship that his mother feels with Enkidu. It is also believed as
symbolism for the life death cycle (Garth 13). This symbol is the constant circle of life and death.
When one dies, another comes onto Earth. Gilgamesh s has died in a sense and Enkidu was born
to help rebuild Gilgamesh. This is hinted because Enkidu has been created, and has started a new
life for both himself and Gilgamesh. More or less, this dream started a chain of events.
This cause and effect sequence started the course of

Nick Naylor s Argumentative Analysis
Thank you for smoking
Nick Naylor presented many obvious fallacious arguments on thank you for
smoking . In the opening scene, Naylor used appeal to ignorance to suggest
that because research had not yet proven that cigarettes lead to lung cancer, therefore,
they must not cause lung cancer. Here Naylor also try to address that smoking cigarette will save the
boy life and at the same time his company from losing money or profit. Ethos: I believe Naylor is
best in the art of argument. What makes him best is that he
required to debate and talk about tobacco in front of the public eye. And, his job is relied on his
ability to keep secret and spin the truth. as BR said. He

Norman Rockwell s Artistic Success And Tragic Passing Of...
Norman Rockwell, a name most have heard if not learned, when the topic of art was ever
brought up, was a famous artist and illustrator who depicted the highs and lows of the common
man. His art is loved by many today as it was decades ago. Many have seen his work be it online, at
an art museum or in an art history book and have been intrigued by his art. I will be covering the
early life, artistic success and tragic passing of the great artist, Norman Rockwell.
Born in New York City on February 3 of year 1894, Norman Perceval Rockwell was destined for
fame and great artistry. At the age of 14, Norman already knew what he wanted to be an artist. He
was then enrolled in art classes at The New York School of Art (also known formerly as the... Show

It had been Rockwell s dream to do a cover for the Post magazine. Although not having an
appointment, he showed his work to the editor hoping for the best. The editor acknowledged
and accepted Rockwell s two finished works as covers and three other sketches for future covers.
His dream had in fact became a reality and this was just the start of a long relationship Norman
would have with the iconic magazine, a 47 year relationship to be exact. In total, he painted over
320 covers for the Post. Rockwell s victory with the magazine won him interest by other
magazines which in turn led him to begin selling his paintings and drawings. One of his best and
most memorable covers was the 1927 celebration of Charles Lindbergh s crossing of the Atlantic.
Another magazine that he worked for was Look, which featured his cover capturing the imprint of
Neil Armstrong s foot on the moon s surface after the successful moon landing in 1969.
The 1930s and 40s were the best eras for Rockwell. In 1930, he married a second time to a
woman named Mary Barstow. Mary was a schoolteacher, and together her and Rockwell had three
sons: Jarvis, Peter and Thomas. The family moved over to Arlington, Vermont, in 1939. There
was a whole new and exciting world that was now at Norman s feet that offered the right material
for the artist to pick from. Much of Rockwell s success came from his appreciation for just
everyday American scenes,

How Jesus Christ Fulfilled The Covenants God Made With...
Introduction
Throughout the history of the world, God has been working to bring humanity back to him. Due to
the loss of constant communion in the fall, God set forth multiple promises to eventually establish
his eternal Kingdom, the New Testament, is the culmination of these promises. The Gospels are the
most specific in how Jesus Christ fulfilled the covenants God made with Abraham and David.
More importantly he is the fulfillment of the new covenant, which washes away sin and brings
humanity back into communion with God. What is modeled in the Gospels is reaffirmed in
Acts, by the way the church is to function according to the culmination of the Covenants. Acts
begins to reveal the great mystery that is the inclusion of the Gentiles in God s covenant. Paul s
Epistles take the culmination a step further and defend the idea that the fulfillment of God s
covenants does not just affect the people of Israel, but the Gentiles as well. The General epistles
teach that the people are no longer bound by the mosaic covenant since the New Covenant was
fulfilled via Jesus Christ. Yet practice of the law is still an important factor of the Christian life
style even if superseded by the New Covenant. Revelation shows that covenants are leading up to
the lord s victory and salvation of his people. The sins of the Jews and Gentiles are washed away by
Jesus the blood of the lamb so in reality the battle is already won because of the New Covenants
fulfillment in Jesus. It is clear from

German Military Strategist In 1914
German military strategist were ready when the declarations of war began flying all over Europe.
They intended to lock off the Russians in the east, smoothly kick France out of the war through a
plan known as the Schliefffen Plan, then throw their full force, collaborating with Austria Hungary,
against the Russians. The Schliefffen Plan, named after General Alfred von Schlieffen who created
it during 1905, called for invading the small countries like Luxembourg and Belgiumin order to
bypass to the north the strong fortifications along the French border. After a rapid conquest of the
small countries, the German advance would continue into northern France, spin around Paris to the
west and take the French capital. It almost worked, but German commander in chief General
Helmuth von Moltke decided to send his troops east of Paris to engage and defeat the weakened
French army straightly. In doing so he displayed his rightwing to counterattack by the French and a
British Expeditionary Force, resulting in the First Battle of the Marne, September 6 10, 1914.
Despite casualties in the hundreds of thousands, the battle was a stalemate, but it stopped the
German drive on Paris. Both sides began digging a network of trenches.

Kumar Sambhav
Kumarsambhav :the birth of war god
KumДЃrasambhava is a Sanskrit epic poem by KДЃlidДЃsa; the first eight cantos (sargas) are
accepted as his authorship [1], the last nine may be later additions. The period of composition is
uncertain, Kalidasa is thought of as having lived in the 5th c. AD.
Kumarsambhava is widely regarded as one of Kalidasa s finest works, a paradigmatic example of
KДЃvya poetry. The style of description of spring set the standard for nature metaphors pervading
many centuries of Indian literary tradition[
KumДЃrasambhava literally means Birth of Kumara , i.e. Kartikeya. This epic of seventeen cantos
entails Shringara Rasa, the rasa of love, romance, and eroticism, more than Vira rasa (the rasa of
heroism). Tarakasur, a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mild, pleasant breeze began to blow from the south. Flowers were sprinkling down from Ashoka
trees. Birds and the bees began to savor the fresh flower of the young mango leaves.
But all this would not deter Lord Shiva from his penance. Kama went there. Shiva was doing his
penance sitting on a tiger skin under a Devadaru tree. Kama was overwhelmed on seeing the
exquisite grace of Lord and the cupid s bow and arrow fell down without his being aware of it. At
this time, Parvati arrived on the scence to attend to her daily chores of service to the Lord. She
wore a saree colored like the bright red rays of the Sun. Nice spring flowers adorned her plait. A
diamond chain shone on her forehead. Her gait was like that of a delicate flower creeper.
This great beauty of Parvati inspired Kama, who hitherto was somewhat, dejected, again to
strive to fulfil his task. Parvati raised her hands to offer her garland of lotus flowers to Shiva
who also eagerly came out of his penance to accept the offering. Kama was waiting for such a
moment and exercised his sword of love . Shiva eyed Parvati once and immediately realised that he
had been weaned away. From his penance. How could this happen?
Kama, Cupid, was ready with his and arrow for action.
Lord Shiva was angry and opened his Third Eye. A great fire flowed forth. Kama was burnt to
ashes and Shiva then disappeared. Rati, seeing her husband destroyed collapsed unconscious.
Parvati s father sorrowfully took her to his home.

Abdominal Wounds Research Paper
Chest and abdominal wounds were nearly always fatal. Treatment of abdominal wounds often
involved pushing in protruding organs and suturing the wound. Food was withheld because fecal
material leaking from the intestines caused contamination. Opium was often administered to halt
the action of the digestive system. Chest wounds were cleaned and the woundwas sutured.
Abdominal wounds were fatal in almost 90 percent of the cases reported by Union surgeons.
An example of this is the case of Henry A. Barnum. Major General Henry A. Barnum was injured
at Malvern Hill, Virginia on July 1st, 1862, by a musket ball that passed through his left lower
abdomen. The ball penetrated his intestines and hip bone. The wound was determined to be fatal
and he was left in a field hospital. A few days later, he was captured by the enemy and taken 18
miles to Libby Prison. Fifteen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The grisly wounds caused by bullets and shrapnel were often contaminated by clothing and other
debris. Cleaning such a wound was time consuming and often ineffective. However, amputation
made a complex wound simple ( To Bind Up the Nation s Wounds ). Amputation performed within
24 to 48 hours after injury was considered a primary amputation. A secondary amputation was one
performed more than three days after injury. Surgical manuals taught that an amputation should be
performed within the first two days following injury. Confederate General Thomas J. Stonewall
Jackson, who had his left arm amputated, was said to have stated that the sound of the saw on the
bone was the sweetest music he had ever heard. He also described chloroform as an infinite
blessing (Wheat, T. A.). Of the approximately 30,000 amputations performed in the Civil War there
was a 26.3 percent mortality rate. In the 1870 Franco Prussian War, despite the lessons learned in
the Civil War, the mortality rate for amputations was 76 percent (Burns, Stanley

Nurses Are Constantly Facing Health Risks
Nurses are constantly facing health risks every day they are at work. I feel as a student with
goals set to become a nurse I should be fully aware of all the things that could potentially go
wrong. I want to make sure I am knowledgeable about the nursing field, because I never would
have thought injuries happen as often in the field of nursing today compared to decades ago when
there was less machinery. The Department of Labor s Bureau of Statistics (BLS) explains that
surveys show 35,000 back injuries happen every year among nurses and are severe enough to
prevent going to work (Zwerdling, par. 9). Zwerdling writes about a nursegetting injured on the job

She later found out the popping noise she heard further damaged her spine (par. 2). Back injuries
are the most common injuries among nurses. Nursing employees get their back injuries from the
number one cause of lifting their patients. The article explains how lifting a patient is harmful no
matter what way it is performed. These injuries prevent young nurses from continuing their career
(Zwerdling par, 13).
A nurse is susceptible to musculoskeletal injuries which can affect them physically and mentally.
Musculoskeletal injuries are injuries affecting the body s movement (Gropelli 297). An example
is back injuries, happening in roughly 52% of nurses (Gropelli 297). Back injuries are one of the
most important injuries to be careful of. Nurses are being restricted by injuries causing them to be
pushed out of work. It affects them mentally, because they can easily become stressed out about
not being able to work which leads to loss of money. Musculoskeletal injuries severely affect
nurses and the hospitals. The hospital is affected, because they are losing their staff due to all of
these injuries that could be prevented (Gropelli 301).
Because of these injuries and risks, younger nurses must leave the field well before retirement,
which will lead to a nursing shortage. The older nurses, which make up 51% of all nurses, are at a
higher risk of injury due to lack of updated training and physical limitations. According to Patricia

Uncle Tom Stereotypes
In a time where the media has possess a strong impression on the minds of those consuming it now
has become the jobs of directors, producers, and film companies to be mindful of the stereotypes
they are putting forth with their content. How can we erase the negative connotations that we
associate with races when these images are being maintained in the media? The Tom or Uncle Tom
stereotypeof the well mannered elderly negro is one that should have vanished by now, but as of
late it has been revived by award winning filmmaker Quentin Tarrantino in his blockbuster film
Django Unchained. The stereotype had previously reared its head in Disney s live action film Song
of the South. The aforementioned Disney film was made in 1946, while the Tarrantino film was
released in 2012. Were those 66 years not enough to lay to rest a foolish racial stereotype?
According to Donald Bogle, the characterization of A Tom is someone who is: chased harassed,
hounded, flogged, enslaved, and insulted, they keep the faith, n er turn against their white massas,
and remain hearty (Bogle 5). Early incarnations of The Tom were often white men in blackface on
minstrel stages, who dressed up in tattered clothing and put on a receding and grayed hairline.
These actors were on stage shucking and jiving singing songs in broken English. In her book titled
Uncle Tom Mania: Slavery Minstrelsy, and Transatlantic Culture in the 1850 s Sarah Meer

Comparing Glasser s Getting Together And Staying Together
This article tells you what to do in your relationships to replace the destructive habits with more
healthy ones. Dr. William Glasser in his book, Getting Together and Staying Together, writes about
the Caring Relationship Habits of listening, trusting, supporting, encouraging, respecting, accepting
and negotiating differences. These are not as simple as they sound. This month we will look at the
first four and I will follow up in December with the final three.
Listening is the first one because I think it is a great place to start. You may already think you
listen and perhaps you do but the level of listening I am speaking of relates to not just hearing your
partner, but truly trying to understand where he or she is coming from. You are listening for
understanding. You wantto know how it is they see things the way they do. You may not agree with
their perception but you want to try to at least understand it from where they come from, in their
shoes and in their skin.

Education Budget Cuts Essay

Ethical Issues In Medical Experiments
While designing research and searching for subjects, medical workers and researchers have faced
and still face profound ethical challenges. They have found that interests of knowledge and science
do not always follow the same road as the interests of their subjects health (Mills and Morris 66).
Obtaining full informed consent, balancing risks and benefits, maximizing subject autonomy, and
developing results into treatment is complex and difficult. The government, review committees and
researchers have also had tense interactions as oversight and transparency come up. Most
researchers have ended up experimenting on groups of people who are similar in backgrounds: the

Thus, the power of the wealthy continued to reign in the state. Staunch conservatives that held only
pro business ideologies came into office on swells of support. The state representative and senate
seats were filled to the brim with Republicans, much in the way they are filled with Democrats
today.
This is most evident in the rise of Coolidge in the Bay State. Coolidge s laissez faire beliefs and
elite ideas personified the Massachusetts political scene at the time.
Slowly, however, this system began to fade. As unions grew, working immigrants became
acquainted with a new idea: leisure time. As work hours were slashed from 12 to 10 even down
to a reasonable 8, the newcomers were slowly becoming allowed to take some time to evaluate
what they had been working so hard for.
Unions: A rise to power
As Unions began to grow amongst the factory workers in the cities, a new sentiment began to grow
through the huddled masses. The idea of self determination began to slowly enter the minds of the
workers who were seeing successes on the picket lines.

Abstract
The concept of using Pervious Concrete Pavement have been developed many years ago, but it has
come to light recently, because of the increase of storm due to climate change. Pervious Concrete
pavement is a different type of concrete with high porosity, which allows the water to infiltrate and
reach the groundwater; thereby it reduces the water runoff and filtrates it. This kind of permeable
pavement, consist of large aggregates and less or no fine aggregates. The pervious concrete
pavement is one of the important and sustainable construction for reducing the environmental
impacts and it is a good choice for earning LEED credits.

Database Comparison of SQL Server 2000, Access, MySQL,...
Introduction
This paper will compare and contrast five different database management systems on six criteria.
The database management systems (DBMS) that will be discussed are SQL Server 2000, Access,
MySQL, DB2, and Oracle. The criteria that will be compared are the systems functionality, the
requirements that must be met to run the DBMS, the expansion capabilities if it is able to expand
to handle more data over time, the types of companies that typically use each one, the normal usage
of the DBMS, and the costs associated with implementing the DBMS.
System functionality
Microsoft Access is a database engine and development environment in one package. It is typically
workstation based, and designed to be easy to use, even for users ... Show more content on

Expansion Capabilities
Access is considered to be a small DBMS, with a maximum database size of 1 GB; therefore, it
has very limited expansion capabilities. MySQL does offer expansion, including clustering
capability. MySQL also offers an enterprise class DBMS through a joint venture with SAP. SQL
Server, DB2, and Oracle, since they are all considered to be enterprise class DBMS, are highly
expandable, with maximum database size into the terabytes (TB). Truly, these databases are at a
point where the limit is actually in the operating system, not the DBMS.
Types of Companies
There are different markets for the different classes of DBMS. Access databases and applications
will be used company wide in very small companies. These databases can be found in different
departments of larger companies, but would not be used at a company level. MySQL, according
to their website http://www.mysql.com, has over 6 million installations, including companies like
Yahoo and the Associated Press. I think MySQL would be a good fit for a mid sized company
that cannot afford the price of the higher end DBMS, but need more functionality, security, and
robustness than is offered by Access. Finally, the large DBMS systems like SQL Server, Oracle,
and DB2 are typically only utilized in large companies, because of the investment required to install
and maintain these databases.

What Is The Role Of The Mauryan Empire Change In Central...
The rise of various empires was a result of massive political and cultural changes that happened
throughout central and south Asia. The major empires created due to the changed were the
Mauryan and Seleucia Empire. In addition to various empires being created in central and south
Asia, Buddhism influences many parts of the world and the Silk Road became a vital importance.
Alexander paved the way for one of the largest Empires in South Asia history, the Mauryan
empire. (213) Before Alexander and his forced came to South Asia, the region was comprised of
multiple small warring states, until 321 BCE, when they failed. A man by the name of
Chandragupta Mori took ideas from Alexander and created a successful military and took the
thrown of the Magadha kingdom. (213) Chandragupta and the Mauryan did not start out a noble or

their enemies. (214) The order of the people in the region of Chandragupta... Show more content on

of his easternmost territorial attainments. (219) Although these towns were once areas for only
soldiers, they eventually became centers of the Hellenistic culture. (219) Many areas such as
Ghazni, Kandahar, Kapisi and Bactra developed characteristics of a Greek polis. The Greek polis

What I Would Get Rid of to Improve Life in the 21st Century
What I would get rid of to improve life in the 21st century. For me I would like to get rid of
religion to improve life in the 21st century. As we all know, most people think that religion is the
belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
Religious people mostly worship or believe in an omnipotent and diving being, have faith in them,
do whatever they were told by it; they too, believe in the concept of omni beneficient, which means
that Godis all good. And now, in 21st century, the omnipresence of religionstill can be seen
anywhere. Religion had made war, and war had made monsters, scattered war around the world.
Why do people believe in religion? Do they solace, save and... Show more content on

Though religion may be that which determines the goal, it has, nevertheless, learned from science,
in the broadest sense, what means will contribute to the attainment of the goals it has set up. But
science can only be created by those who are thoroughly imbued with the aspiration toward truth
and understanding. Accordingly, a religious person is devout in the sense that he has no doubt of
the significance and loftiness of those super personal objects and goals which neither require nor
are capable of rational foundation. They exist with the same necessity and matter of factness as he
himself. In this sense religion is the age old endeavour of mankind to become clearly and
completely conscious of these values and goals and constantly to strengthen and extend their effect.
If one conceives of religion and science according to these definitions then a conflict between them
appears impossible. For science can only ascertain what is, but not what should be, and outside of
its domain value judgments of all kinds remain necessary. Religion, on the other hand, deals only
with evaluations of human thought and action: it cannot justifiably speak of facts and relationships
between facts. According to this interpretation the well known conflicts between religion and
science in the past must all be ascribed to a misapprehension of the situation which has been
described. I strongly believe that

Minimum Wage Should Be Raised For A Better Standard Of Living

Minimum Wage Almost 3.3 out of 76 million workers in the US receive minimum wage (Source:
BLS reports). Activists for raising the minimum wage claim that the federal minimum wage of
$7.25 is the reason they are living in poverty, and that the wage must be raised for a better standard
of living. Many people who take on minimum wage jobs are young and work in companies that don
t carry much prestige; however, they still take pride in their work and demand higher pay (BLS
reports). On the other side of the issue, there are claims that raising the minimum wage will actually
have more drawbacks than benefits such as hurting the economy (Opposing Viewpoints). The ...

These effects can be seen as a boost to the economy because those 28 million workers would
make use of their extra money, and put it back into the ever flowing economy. This action by the
workers would lead to an overall estimated 35 billion dollar increase (Cap Action). Raising the
minimum wage would also help lessen the disparity of income that often occurs. I think many
people can agree that some jobs pay way too much, as opposed to other jobs. By raising the
minimum wage just a little, the workers can feel more needed and potentially increase
productivity (Cap Action). People also believe that by ensuring a fair wage distribution, affluent
people would have less trouble relating to poorer folk, and vice versa. Raising the minimum
wage would reduce unemployment, which is a problem some 4% of Americans today suffer
from (Pew Research). This statement is backed up by the fact that previous states that raised
minimum wage have generally seen an increase in offered jobs (Cap Action). Raising the
minimum wage would also minimally affect other prices of things, which would not lead to
problems in the overall scheme of things (Cap Action). It is stated that the price of a CD would
be raised by just one cent to compensate for a minimum wage increase. An increase would also let
3.5 million workers who use food stamps to be able to purchase their own food, which would not

In addition to the simple will, I would suggest that both of you go to see an estate planning
attorney and have them establish a medical durable power of attorney, a living will, and a
general durable power of attorney for each of you. It is ok to name the spouse as the agent for
each other but it is also essential to place in the document a successor agent in case your primary
agent is deceased. When choosing that person, make sure that you have a conversation with that
person to make sure that they know your wishes and desires in terms of financial and medical
decisions that they might have to make. For Paul s mother Claire, she also needs the same three
documents. Even though her only source of income is her Social Security Benefits, a durable
power of attorney is necessary if she needs someone to write checks or deposit checks. For
Claire, it is important to have these documents executed while she is still medically competent
because if you wait until after she is declared incompetent, the process becomes more difficult.
Ron and Peggy also would need a medical durable power of attorney, a living will, and a durable
power of attorney. Even though they are young and still have not built up wealth, these are
important documents to have in place in case they are to become severely ill or are in a horrible

No Prayer in the Public Schools Essay
Over the past three decades, the issue of the role of prayer in the public school system has become
increasingly controversial. The current debate juggles the opposing interpretations of the exact
intentions of America s Founders, who came from an other country, England, in pursuite of
expanded freedoms. The first colonists in the 17th century especially desired religious freedom,
because their former British government forced them all to learn and practice a centralized religion.
Consequently, A merica s first legislators made certain that their religiously pluralistic nation would
not be the victim of government intervention in religious matters. Therefore, religious freedom was

The dispute over school prayer has evolved from the government s uncertainty of the relationship
between itself and the church. As included in the Constitution, the national government intended
for the sanction of all religious affiliations, yet m any state governments did not support this
regulation. For instance, a number of public schools displayed favoritism and partiality toward
certain religions over others in the form of financial subsidy and religious accommodation.
Therefore, to ensure t hat the national and state governments could not interfere with religious
establishments, a more precise interpretation of the religious clauses of the First Amendment
became known as secularism, or complete separation of the church and the government.
The concept of secularism seems to parallel the idea incorporated in the Establishment Clause of the
First Amendment. Because all Americans citizens, including minorities and nonbelievers hold
equal inalienable rights to their religious beliefs, t he government must accommodate all of its
citizens. The First Amendment maintains that the government needs to remain neutral, can not
coerce, and can not prescribe a faith (Alley 254). Since

Financial Intermediation and Economic Development in Nigeria
Abstract
Financial intermediation is an important activity in the economy because it allows funds to be
channeled from people who might otherwise not put them to productive use to people who will
ultimately put the funds to productive uses. In line with the assumption that banking sector plays
an important role in financing the investment projects, successive governments in Nigeria have
carried out reforms and institutional innovations in the banking sector. The overall intention of
these reforms has been to ensure financial stability so as to influence the growth of the economy
and also enhance banks to play a critical role of financial intermediation in Nigeria. However,
despite the fact that Nigerian banks have undergone series of ... Show more content on

The efficiency and effectiveness of financial intermediation in any economy depend critically on the
level of development of the country s financial system. In effect, the underdeveloped nature of the
financial system in most developing countries accounts largely for the relative inefficiency of
financial intermediation in those economies. In these countries the financial system is dominated
by banks, which are typically oligopolistic in structure and tend to concentrate on short term lending
as against investments with long term gestation period. The alternative/complementary source for
financing development projects is the development of debt or equity markets which at best, is at the
rudimentary stage of development. It is in this regard that specialized financial institutions,
including government owned development banks have been established in Nigeria to bridge the gap.
The principal function of deposit money banks is the mobilization of savings for investment. The
importance of banks in generating growth within an economy has been widely acknowledged, for
example Schumpeter (1932) cited in Blum, Federmair, Fink, and Haiss (2002) identified bank s role
in facilitating technological innovation through their intermediary role. Schumpeter

It was developed by Adam Smith he formulated the basis of what was later to become the science
of human capital and it was used to study if investing in human capital would lead to greater
economic outputs (what makes one worker more productive than another). This theory indicates
that all human behavior is based on the economics of self interest, of individuals operating within
freely competitive markets. When applied to the study, this theory holds that the independent
variable, work based training influences or explains the dependent variable gaining employment.
The belief is that people, who want high wage employment, will spend more time educating
themselves, in their desired field of employment. This equates to a more qualified candidate;

supporting the word self sufficient.
The definition of self sufficient for this research is being able to provide ones needs without
government assistance. The Human Capital Theory adds to this definition by stating that it is the

The Publication of Financial Reports
Over the years, annual reporting has undergone drastic changes. It is becoming increasingly
important as the readers are not limited only within certain geographical boundary but expanding
internationally. With globalization, public listed companies must ensure more transparency and
more accurate information. This has led to publication of their reports on their websites making
people all over the world easy access to their performance. Today not only financial reporting are

needless to say, interest for most stakeholders in the annual reports have always remained the
financial section of the reports. Hence need for more comprehensive reporting arises. Birth of
financial reporting took place when many people started contributing small amounts of their
money towards a common stock to achieve a common goal. Thus, financial reporting is a

Aspiration Pneumonia Research Paper
A gastrostomy tube requires anesthesia during placement and has risks associated with the use of
anesthesia. There is also a risk of infection of the abdominal wall and peritonitis which is a life
threatening infection of the abdominal cavity. Also gastrointestinal bleeding, blockage of the bowel
or perforation of the bowel may occur. Diarrhea from the feeding formula is fairly common.
Aspiration pneumonia is also common and if the person requires restraints to keep from pulling the
tube out, the same complications listed above can occur. There is no good evidence that
demonstrates that gastrostomy tubes, or tubes into the small intestine, prevent aspiration
pneumonia in a person who has difficulty swallowing. In fact, there is good evidence in persons
with advanced Alzheimer s disease that gastrostomy tubes actually cause more harm than if no tube
has been placed. Moreover, other evidence shows that tube feeding may actually increase episodes
of aspiration pneumonia. Careful feeding by hand is a better alternative (Arenella, n.d.).... Show

The Change Between Suspension Bridges Before 1940 and...
Suspension bridges were important before 1940 and are still important today. Major cities such as
San Francisco, and Manhattan both have a suspension bridge. Suspension bridges are, a bridge
having a deck suspended from cables anchored at their extremities and usually raised on towers

the length of the bridge, past bridges were unsafe. For example, the Tacoma Narrows Bridgewas a

Sometimes the wind would not be perpendicular, in which the oscillation of the bridge was less,
but there was still some oscillation. On November 7th, 1940, the Tacoma Bridge collapsed
because the oscillation of the bridge became extreme. The oscillation of the bridge was caused
by a wind speed of 42 mph (HistoryLink.org). After, approximately, an hour of a corkscrew like
motion, the bridge collapsed into Puget Sound. This marked a huge turning point in the design
of suspension bridges from that point in time to current time. Initially, suspension bridges before
1940 were made of piers, towers, wires, anchorages, and roadways. Piers were the main
foundation for the suspension bridges. There usually were two of them, which were made out
of cement and were entrenched in ground underneath the body of water that the bridge was
spanned across. Towers were built on top of the piers to provide a means of connection for the
roadways and wires. Wires were connected to the towers, roadways, and anchorages to provide
tension support for the weight of the bridge. The anchorages were large cement platforms that
were planted into the ground on either side of the land so that the wires could be connected to it.
Lastly, the roadways were the main point of the suspension bridge. They usually were wide
enough to provide four lanes of traffic and stretched from one side of the bridge to the other. This
was the basic design of the suspension bridges

The debate in the academic study of mysticism between Steven Katz and Robert Forman primarily
refers to the origins and essence of mystical experiences. Katz s argues that, There are NO pure (i.e.

interpreting and verifying mystical experiences, thus alluding to the issue of whether or not
mystical experiences can be classified. Comparatively, Robert Forman argues for the existence of

experiences (Educational Broadcasting Corporation). Moreover, Katz suggests, all experience is

epistemological ways (Katz, 26). Essentially, Katz insists that people do not have mystical
experiences that differ from their spiritual or religious beliefs and practices. Katz states, ...in order
to understand mysticism it is not just a question of studying the reports of the mystics after the
experimental event but of acknowledging that the experience itself as well as the form in which it
is reported is shaped by the concepts which the mystic brings to, and which shape his experience
(Katz, 26). For Katz, this argument denies claims of mystical experiences any reliability. Therefore,
one may question how

Introduction Of Natural Language Processing
INTRODUCTION TO NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING
What is NLP?
Natural Language Processing can be defined as the use and ability of systems to process sentences
in a natural language such as English, instead of using a specialized artificial computer language
such as C, C++ etc. The systems used for NLP are a digital computer which is similarly resemble to
mainframe and personal computers. The digital computer systems in this fifth generation possesses
artificial intelligence technique and thus able to process natural languages. Natural language is a
more restricted subset of a human language; it cannot be thought of an actual language that
possesses ambiguities which computers could not sort out. Hence it is fair that Human Languages
grant aberration that natural language cannot grant. In a larger view; Natural Language Processing
includes signal processing or speech recognition, context reference issues and semantic analysis and
processing. Typical applications for Natural Language Processing include the following:
a) A good human computer interface that can translate from a natural language into a computer
language and vice versa. A natural language system can act as an interface to a database system.
This technology is very useful for the blind people; that with the help of speech recognition interact
with computers.
b) A basic necessity is for a translation program that could convert from one human vocal language
to another. This saves down the time for translation.

Cross Cultural Interview
Cross Cultural Interview
Culture can be defined as a set of practices, traditions, values, or beliefs a group of people share,
whether it be due to ethnicity, gender, age, or even religion. Having different cultures in a work
place can effectively make a business stronger, especially in the United States where it is known
a the melting pot. I know that in the future I could possibly work at a pharmacy that has
employees from different cultural backgrounds. Therefore, learning now how to understand and
be more aware of these differences would be most beneficial. What better way to do so than to
interview someone who is as far from being the same as myself as possible.
For this interview, I chose to ask a crew trainer I know personally named ... Show more content on

During the interview he stated, in order to be happy in business, one has to learn to respect the
abilities, efforts, quirks and opinions of others. I believe that there are various ways in which
individuals can show respect while in business. According to Vlosky, Fontenot, Blalock (2000),
gratitude is of essence in any business. While in business dealings, one is always expected to ensure
that they thank their business colleagues whenever they have done business by assisting or
supporting them in whatever manner. This can be achieved through sending emails, texts, calls to
individuals that you always do business with.
Smith also said that sincerity is one of the major aspects that one can show respect when in
business. While I do believe telling the truth is the best policy as well, sometimes being brutally
honest in this world can bring consequences. Many individuals usually do not like when they are
told the truth especially if it is negative (Vlosky, Fontenot, Blalock, 2000). With this being said I
was quite puzzled by Smith s response. So I asked him how being sincere showed respect. He
replied that to show respect in business one should be sincere while thanking them for their efforts,
assistance or good

Hurricane Barriers
In recent discussions of what can be done to prevent or help out in a situation of another
hurricane hitting just like Katrina, a controversial issue has been whether a flood gate, system is
the only way to truly protect from a hurricane. On the one hand, some argue that wave
attenuating breakwater that slows and softens waves as they hit the shore can help prevent a
hurricane. On the other hand, however, others argue that waterfront parks that provide physical
defense from storm surges, while bringing more public access to the waterfront. In sum the issue
is what is the truly the best way which help take action in the occurrence of another hurricane.
While some believe a system to slow flood waters would be more beneficial in the cause of a
hurricane, building flood gates and barriers would be more beneficial, having more of an effect
on helping with the flood waters and keeping water out. I say building flood gates and barriers
will be more beneficial to help in the case of a hurricane happening. Flood gates and barriers
helped in lots of major disasters because without them the hurricanes or large bodies of water
would destroy everything in their path and create floods. But if the flood... Show more content on

I believe that building more flood gates and barriers would be more beneficial in case of a
hurricane occurring. As the evidence shows it give physical explanation on how the flood gates

getting in and overflowing and causing flooding and with the barriers they will help in the case
of a large body of water escapes or hits the barriers will attract all the water and build up in there till
it s escaped and somewhere

How Media Organizations Produce Audiences And Markets
This segment will review variety of literature exploring on how and why media organizations
produce audiences and markets. The different types of audience theories there are will explore this,
and how the audience reacts within these theories. There are many various audience theories out
there, however six will be explored.
The word audience is so much part of our everyday talk that its complexity is often taken for
granted. (Ross Nightingale 2003)
Today, media is surrounding us, whether it is television, films, magazines, games, radio, music, the
news, and even billboards and posters, and we don t even acknowledge it, unless it hits us in the
face. Along with this media, comes different audience, and different reactions. The... Show more

Hall also suggested that the way an audience reacts, is dependant on their cultural backgrounds and
how they were brought up, for example, if the mass media s intended message is fruit is great, it
all depends if an individual has been brought up to dislike fruit, etc. the audience is also given more
credit, and it s understood that they mat react in different ways.
Reception theory is the social interaction aspect, and the Two Step Flow theory is also similar.
Formulated first in the The People s Choice, the hypothesis suggests that ideas often flow from
radio and print to the opinion leaders and from them to the less active sections of the population.
(Lazarfield and Katz, 1970)
Paul Felix Lazerfiled originally came up with this theory, and then later, Elihu Katz began
working with him. The two of them looked at during the presidential elections, how the votes
make up the audience s minds and wrote a book exploring the different factors of it. They
speculated how the mass media connects with people, however this communication is routed
through opinion leaders. These people are very media literate and they link their understanding
to others. The mass media uses comedians as the opinion leaders, as they take real life news, and
analyse it in a comical way, and the mass media probably entrust the comedians more, as they
come across less bias and less of an agender, and the public find the news sometimes so bias, it was
almost comical. Two Step Flow theory is

Dirt Is Good Summary
Germs! Germs! Germs! Yucky? Eewww?! Over the years, we have grown to see germs as bad,
something to totally avoid and get rid of. Parents most especially with newly born babies and
young children tend to be overreact at the mere thought of germs. But can we blame parents
when things like how to properly look after their child, when to give him antibiotics or how often
they should sterilize his pacifier, bog them? Well. thanks to Jack Gilbert, the co author of a new
book called Dirt is Good: The Advantage of Germs for Your Child s Developing Immune System
for presenting answers to many of our questions about these microbes. Gilbert, a scientist who
studies microbial ecosystems at the University of Chicago, decided to find out what s actually...

Over sterilizing the kids environment is not advantageous. 2. Keeping the children from ever
getting dirty, like preventing them from going out into the backyard and playing in the mud, is
not helpful. Just make sure that as they become filthy, bring them in and sterilize their hands
with antiseptic wipes, and then remove that dirt gets from their faces. 3. Keeping the kids away
from animals is not good either. It s fine to wash their hands if there s a cold or a flu virus
around, but if they re interacting with a dog, and the dog licks their face, that s not a bad thing.
In fact that could be extremely beneficial for the child s health. 4. Using sanitizers is usually
bad.. Hot, soapy water is fine. Even mildly warm, soapy water is okay, and it is probably less
damaging to the child s overall health. 5. Observing the five second rule is baseless. The idea
that if something falls on the ground and is there for under five seconds, it s clean. The five
second rule doesn t exist. It takes milliseconds for microbes to attach themselves to a sticky piece
of jammy toast, for example. But it makes no difference. Unless you dropped it in an area where
you think they could be a high risk of extremely dangerous pathogens, which in every modern
American home is virtually impossible, then there s no risk to your

CHAPTER 2: THE TIME VALUE OF MONEY
This chapter consists of five sections: the first section explains the time value of money and the
factors that affect the time value of money; The second part will help to distinguish the types of
cash flow; The next two sections will discuss how to determine the present value and the future
value of cash flows; The final section will guide on how to plan an amortized loan.
Before we start, we need to clarify a problem together, which is why we have to study the chapter;
in other words, why financial managers must understand the time value of money?
In fact, whether they are individuals or companies, most financial decisions are associated with the
time value of money. Besides, the objective of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Generally: Pn = Po [ 1 + (i) x (n) ]
In which: Pn: accumulation of a loan at the end of period n. Po: Principals i: interest rate n: number

Compound interest is interest that is paid not only on the principal but also on any interest earned
but not withdrawn during earlier periods. This happens when interest is earned on the interest
earned in prior periods.
Returning to the example above, you put 10 million in an account with compounding interest rate
of 8% / year. After 10 years, how much money do you have? (including principal and interest)
After the first year, the amount accrued is:
P1 = 10 + 10 x 0,08 = 10 (1 +0,08) = 10,8 million
After the second year, the amount accrued is:
P2 = 10 (1+0,08) + 10(1 + 0,08) x 0,08 = 10 (1 + 0,08)(1 + 0,08) = 10 (1 + 0,08)2 = 11,664 million
After the third year, the amount accrued is:

Janie s Vision Under The Pear Tree Analysis
Hurston s description of Janie s vision under the pear tree conveys the ideals of love and
intimacy. As shown by the follow description: She saw a dust bearing bee sink into the sanctum of
a bloom; the thousand sister calyxes arch to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the
tree from root to tiniest branch creaming in every blossom and frothing with delight. So this was a
marriage! She had been summoned to behold a revelation. Then Janie felt a pain remorseless sweet
that left her limp and languid. From this description, one can see that Janie sees the pear tree and
bee is very intimate and this starts representing loveto her. This vision is an awakening for Janie

Nanny believes in marriage and material wealth as the ideal goal for a black woman. This is due
to her past as a slave and her and her daughter s unmarried status due to them being forced into
illicit relationships and raped. So all through her life, nanny has seen having property, being
protected by your husband, and having time for leisure as an ideal. However, this point of view
has limitations as shown by when Janie complains to her nanny about her lack of love and her
nanny is unable to comprehend it and instead says You come head wid yo mouf full uh
foolishness on uh busy day. Yeah you got uh prop to lean on all yo bawn days, and big
protection, and everybody s got tuh tip the hat to you and call you Mis Killicks, and you come

because, unlike Janie, she doesn t realize there s more to life than status and wealth. The book
doesn t support this viewpoint either, because it is clear that Janie is the happiest when she is
living and working with tea cake in the Everglades. Her happiness proves that she didn t need the
wealth or leisure lifestyle, she just needed to be loved and cared for by her

Juvenile Curfew Laws
A 2011 study published in The American Law and Economics Review by the University of
California, Berkeley, The Impact of Juvenile Curfew Laws on Arrests of Youth and Adults,
analyzes data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation s Unified Criminal Reporting files. The
researcher focuses on arrests for both minor offenses (loitering and curfew violations) and more
serious infractions (such as violent crimes and property crimes). Key study findings indicated,
arrests of youths directly impacted by curfew restrictions drop by almost 15% in the first year and
approximately 10% in following years. In the average city, a permanent 10% reduction corresponds
to roughly 135 fewer youth arrests per year.

A Look into Psalms 119
Everyday millions of Americans read stories to their children before they go to bed. I often read
Dr. Seuss books to my son Seth, who is four years old. He loves the rhythm and rimes that are
those books. One of his favorites is Green Eggs and Ham. Seth has begun to answer the questions
of Sam, answering him for the other character saying he does not like green eggs and ham . It
caught my attention that some of the Psalmsalso have a repetitive nature. Psalm 119is the longest of
all the Psalms and is very repetitive. Many people only read one section of the Psalm because of
the repetitive nature and do not look at the chapter as a whole. There is a lack of churches
teaching on the Psalms and some a not reading them at all. Psalm 119 is more than a long
repetitive Psalm, reading it as one passage there is evidence of determination by the author to
show why following the Lord s teaching is vital to life as a Christian. Comparison of three
sections of Psalm 119 will show how the Psalm repeats the same theme throughout the work.
This shows that the repetition is helpful in remembering the reason for follow God s laws. The
first section is 119:1 8 and will show the message the psalmist trying to convey. The second
section is 119:33 40 and this will show that God is our teacher and one way to learn is to follow
God s instructions. The third section is 119:65 72 this conveys that life is found in the openness of
God s instruction. All these sections together

The misbehavior forces that were in play in f Harry Stonecipher (p 227), Mark Hurd (p 229) and

Male Genital Mutilation Essay
Male Genital Mutilation Female genital mutilation in foreign countries is a hot topic that many
people stand up against. It is frowned upon by western civilization and there are entire

mutilation? Circumcision is a procedure done primarily on infant males, in which the foreskin is

  • 2. Theme Of Dreams In The Epic Of Gilgamesh Since the beginning of time, every being on Earth has slept. Along with sleeping, dreams appear. From the mind, dreams come and can often show one s deepest thoughts. These dreams have endless interpretations and an impact on future actions. Because dreams can mean anything and are the foundation for more intense feelings, dreams were used in the earliest form of literature. The Epic of Gilgameshuses the concept of dreams to explain Gilgamesh s future ambitions. Gilgamesh s dreams provide visions compiled of different ideas and the way he interprets those dreams affect the decisions he makes. In one of Gilgamesh s dreams, he views a meteor, fell down from heaven (Sanders 2). Then his mother, Ninsun, announces it is Gilgamesh s brother, Enkidu. However, Ninsun takes from his dream that she created Enkidu and he will love Gilgamesh forever. These discoveries indicate whoever is the meteor is going to be Gilgamesh s family. Although Gilgamesh feels loved, he doesn t feel the companionship that his mother feels with Enkidu. It is also believed as symbolism for the life death cycle (Garth 13). This symbol is the constant circle of life and death. When one dies, another comes onto Earth. Gilgamesh s has died in a sense and Enkidu was born to help rebuild Gilgamesh. This is hinted because Enkidu has been created, and has started a new life for both himself and Gilgamesh. More or less, this dream started a chain of events. This cause and effect sequence started the course of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Nick Naylor s Argumentative Analysis Thank you for smoking Nick Naylor presented many obvious fallacious arguments on thank you for smoking . In the opening scene, Naylor used appeal to ignorance to suggest that because research had not yet proven that cigarettes lead to lung cancer, therefore, they must not cause lung cancer. Here Naylor also try to address that smoking cigarette will save the boy life and at the same time his company from losing money or profit. Ethos: I believe Naylor is best in the art of argument. What makes him best is that he required to debate and talk about tobacco in front of the public eye. And, his job is relied on his ability to keep secret and spin the truth. as BR said. He ... • 6. Norman Rockwell s Artistic Success And Tragic Passing Of... Norman Rockwell, a name most have heard if not learned, when the topic of art was ever brought up, was a famous artist and illustrator who depicted the highs and lows of the common man. His art is loved by many today as it was decades ago. Many have seen his work be it online, at an art museum or in an art history book and have been intrigued by his art. I will be covering the early life, artistic success and tragic passing of the great artist, Norman Rockwell. Born in New York City on February 3 of year 1894, Norman Perceval Rockwell was destined for fame and great artistry. At the age of 14, Norman already knew what he wanted to be an artist. He was then enrolled in art classes at The New York School of Art (also known formerly as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It had been Rockwell s dream to do a cover for the Post magazine. Although not having an appointment, he showed his work to the editor hoping for the best. The editor acknowledged and accepted Rockwell s two finished works as covers and three other sketches for future covers. His dream had in fact became a reality and this was just the start of a long relationship Norman would have with the iconic magazine, a 47 year relationship to be exact. In total, he painted over 320 covers for the Post. Rockwell s victory with the magazine won him interest by other magazines which in turn led him to begin selling his paintings and drawings. One of his best and most memorable covers was the 1927 celebration of Charles Lindbergh s crossing of the Atlantic. Another magazine that he worked for was Look, which featured his cover capturing the imprint of Neil Armstrong s foot on the moon s surface after the successful moon landing in 1969. The 1930s and 40s were the best eras for Rockwell. In 1930, he married a second time to a woman named Mary Barstow. Mary was a schoolteacher, and together her and Rockwell had three sons: Jarvis, Peter and Thomas. The family moved over to Arlington, Vermont, in 1939. There was a whole new and exciting world that was now at Norman s feet that offered the right material for the artist to pick from. • 7. How Jesus Christ Fulfilled The Covenants God Made With... Introduction Throughout the history of the world, God has been working to bring humanity back to him. Due to the loss of constant communion in the fall, God set forth multiple promises to eventually establish his eternal Kingdom, the New Testament, is the culmination of these promises. The Gospels are the most specific in how Jesus Christ fulfilled the covenants God made with Abraham and David. More importantly he is the fulfillment of the new covenant, which washes away sin and brings humanity back into communion with God. What is modeled in the Gospels is reaffirmed in Acts, by the way the church is to function according to the culmination of the Covenants. Acts begins to reveal the great mystery that is the inclusion of the Gentiles in God s covenant. Paul s Epistles take the culmination a step further and defend the idea that the fulfillment of God s covenants does not just affect the people of Israel, but the Gentiles as well. The General epistles teach that the people are no longer bound by the mosaic covenant since the New Covenant was fulfilled via Jesus Christ. Yet practice of the law is still an important factor of the Christian life style even if superseded by the New Covenant. Revelation shows that covenants are leading up to the lord s victory and salvation of his people. The sins of the Jews and Gentiles are washed away by Jesus the blood of the lamb so in reality the battle is already won because of the New Covenants fulfillment in Jesus. It is clear from ... • 8. German Military Strategist In 1914 German military strategist were ready when the declarations of war began flying all over Europe. They intended to lock off the Russians in the east, smoothly kick France out of the war through a plan known as the Schliefffen Plan, then throw their full force, collaborating with Austria Hungary, against the Russians. The Schliefffen Plan, named after General Alfred von Schlieffen who created it during 1905, called for invading the small countries like Luxembourg and Belgiumin order to bypass to the north the strong fortifications along the French border. After a rapid conquest of the small countries, the German advance would continue into northern France, spin around Paris to the west and take the French capital. It almost worked, but German commander in chief General Helmuth von Moltke decided to send his troops east of Paris to engage and defeat the weakened French army straightly. In doing so he displayed his rightwing to counterattack by the French and a British Expeditionary Force, resulting in the First Battle of the Marne, September 6 10, 1914. Despite casualties in the hundreds of thousands, the battle was a stalemate, but it stopped the German drive on Paris. Both sides began digging a network of trenches. ... Mild, pleasant breeze began to blow from the south. Flowers were sprinkling down from Ashoka trees. Birds and the bees began to savor the fresh flower of the young mango leaves. But all this would not deter Lord Shiva from his penance. Kama went there. Shiva was doing his penance sitting on a tiger skin under a Devadaru tree. Kama was overwhelmed on seeing the exquisite grace of Lord and the cupid s bow and arrow fell down without his being aware of it. At this time, Parvati arrived on the scence to attend to her daily chores of service to the Lord. She wore a saree colored like the bright red rays of the Sun. Nice spring flowers adorned her plait. A diamond chain shone on her forehead. Her gait was like that of a delicate flower creeper. This great beauty of Parvati inspired Kama, who hitherto was somewhat, dejected, again to strive to fulfil his task. Parvati raised her hands to offer her garland of lotus flowers to Shiva who also eagerly came out of his penance to accept the offering. Kama was waiting for such a moment and exercised his sword of love . Shiva eyed Parvati once and immediately realised that he had been weaned away. From his penance. How could this happen? Kama, Cupid, was ready with his and arrow for action. Lord Shiva was angry and opened his Third Eye. A great fire flowed forth. Kama was burnt to ashes and Shiva then disappeared. Rati, seeing her husband destroyed collapsed unconscious. Parvati s father sorrowfully took her to his home. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Abdominal Wounds Research Paper Chest and abdominal wounds were nearly always fatal. Treatment of abdominal wounds often involved pushing in protruding organs and suturing the wound. Food was withheld because fecal material leaking from the intestines caused contamination. Opium was often administered to halt the action of the digestive system. Chest wounds were cleaned and the woundwas sutured. Abdominal wounds were fatal in almost 90 percent of the cases reported by Union surgeons. An example of this is the case of Henry A. Barnum. Major General Henry A. Barnum was injured at Malvern Hill, Virginia on July 1st, 1862, by a musket ball that passed through his left lower abdomen. The ball penetrated his intestines and hip bone. The wound was determined to be fatal and he was left in a field hospital. A few days later, he was captured by the enemy and taken 18 miles to Libby Prison. Fifteen ... Cleaning such a wound was time consuming and often ineffective. However, amputation made a complex wound simple ( To Bind Up the Nation s Wounds ). Amputation performed within 24 to 48 hours after injury was considered a primary amputation. A secondary amputation was one performed more than three days after injury. Surgical manuals taught that an amputation should be performed within the first two days following injury. Confederate General Thomas J. I want to make sure I am knowledgeable about the nursing field, because I never would have thought injuries happen as often in the field of nursing today compared to decades ago when there was less machinery. Nursing employees get their back injuries from the number one cause of lifting their patients. The article explains how lifting a patient is harmful no matter what way it is performed. These injuries prevent young nurses from continuing their career (Zwerdling par, 13). A nurse is susceptible to musculoskeletal injuries which can affect them physically and mentally. Musculoskeletal injuries are injuries affecting the body s movement (Gropelli 297). An example is back injuries, happening in roughly 52% of nurses (Gropelli 297). Back injuries are one of the most important injuries to be careful of. Nurses are being restricted by injuries causing them to be pushed out of work. It affects them mentally, because they can easily become stressed out about not being able to work which leads to loss of money. Musculoskeletal injuries severely affect nurses and the hospitals. The hospital is affected, because they are losing their staff due to all of these injuries that could be prevented (Gropelli 301). Because of these injuries and risks, younger nurses must leave the field well before retirement, which will lead to a nursing shortage. The Tom or Uncle Tom stereotypeof the well mannered elderly negro is one that should have vanished by now, but as of late it has been revived by award winning filmmaker Quentin Tarrantino in his blockbuster film Django Unchained. Accordingly, a religious person is devout in the sense that he has no doubt of the significance and loftiness of those super personal objects and goals which neither require nor are capable of rational foundation. They exist with the same necessity and matter of factness as he himself. In this sense religion is the age old endeavour of mankind to become clearly and completely conscious of these values and goals and constantly to strengthen and extend their effect. The most important thing about this pen is that it lets me put my ideas out to be read by people. I would write a lot in high school and, unlike drawing, I was good at it. It was developed by Adam Smith he formulated the basis of what was later to become the science of human capital and it was used to study if investing in human capital would lead to greater economic outputs (what makes one worker more productive than another). This theory indicates that all human behavior is based on the economics of self interest, of individuals operating within freely competitive markets. When applied to the study, this theory holds that the independent variable, work based training influences or explains the dependent variable gaining employment. The belief is that people, who want high wage employment, will spend more time educating themselves, in their desired field of employment. This equates to a more qualified candidate; forcing the employer to provide higher pay (Fitzsimons, 1999). This theory plays a role in supporting the word self sufficient. The definition of self sufficient for this research is being able to provide ones needs without government assistance. The Human Capital Theory adds to this definition by stating that it is the belief that people want more so they do the things necessary for them to become self sufficient. Major cities such as San Francisco, and Manhattan both have a suspension bridge. Suspension bridges are, a bridge having a deck suspended from cables anchored at their extremities and usually raised on towers (dictionary.com). Due to the fact that suspension bridges are not completely supported throughout the length of the bridge, past bridges were unsafe. For example, the Tacoma Narrows Bridgewas a suspension bridgeopened on July 1st, 1940 (Mark Ketchum). On November 7th, 1940, the Tacoma Bridge collapsed because the oscillation of the bridge became extreme. The oscillation of the bridge was caused by a wind speed of 42 mph (HistoryLink.org). After, approximately, an hour of a corkscrew like motion, the bridge collapsed into Puget Sound. This marked a huge turning point in the design of suspension bridges from that point in time to current time. Initially, suspension bridges before 1940 were made of piers, towers, wires, anchorages, and roadways. Piers were the main foundation for the suspension bridges. There usually were two of them, which were made out of cement and were entrenched in ground underneath the body of water that the bridge was spanned across. Towers were built on top of the piers to provide a means of connection for the roadways and wires. Wires were connected to the towers, roadways, and anchorages to provide tension support for the weight of the bridge. The anchorages were large cement platforms that were planted into the ground on either side of the land so that the wires could be connected to it. Lastly, the roadways were the main point of the suspension bridge. They usually were wide enough to provide four lanes of traffic and stretched from one side of the bridge to the other. The different types of audience theories there are will explore this, and how the audience reacts within these theories. Reception theory is the social interaction aspect, and the Two Step Flow theory is also similar. Formulated first in the The People s Choice, the hypothesis suggests that ideas often flow from radio and print to the opinion leaders and from them to the less active sections of the population. (Lazarfield and Katz, 1970) Paul Felix Lazerfiled originally came up with this theory, and then later, Elihu Katz began working with him. The two of them looked at during the presidential elections, how the votes make up the audience s minds and wrote a book exploring the different factors of it. They speculated how the mass media connects with people, however this communication is routed through opinion leaders. These people are very media literate and they link their understanding to others. The mass media uses comedians as the opinion leaders, as they take real life news, and analyse it in a comical way, and the mass media probably entrust the comedians more, as they come across less bias and less of an agender, and the public find the news sometimes so bias, it was almost comical.
