  1. 2. The country <ul><li>Portugal is the most western European Country. </li></ul><ul><li>It borders Spain to the north and east. It is the last frontier to the Atlantic Ocean. . </li></ul><ul><li>Portugal depends a lot on nature, the sea and the land. It has a varied landscape, mountains, plains, rivers and the rich Atlantic coast. </li></ul>
  2. 3. Diversity <ul><li>Due to our geographical position and climate, our food resources are varied. </li></ul><ul><li>And so are our landscapes… </li></ul>

The North <ul><li>The Minho and Douro regions are green and full of natural beauty. </li></ul><ul><li>This part of the country has an enormous historic background. </li></ul><ul><li>The city of Guimarães is called”the craddle of our nationality” </li></ul><ul><li>Viana do Castelo, Esposende, Ponte de Lima, Guimarães, Braga and the magnificent Gêres are unforgettable places </li></ul>
  4. 5. The Douro and Port Wine <ul><li>In the North, the most significant area is the Douro. It has unique vineyards. Our wines are worldwide famous, highly appreciated and awarded: especially Port Wine made from grapes grown in the Douro river banks. In fact, Port Wine growing areas are considered World Heritage Sites by Unesco and are one of the big tourist attractions in the north of Portugal. </li></ul>

  7. 8. Serra da Estrela <ul><li>In the centre we selected Serra da Estrela because it’s the highest mountain of Portugal. In this area several products are typical: cattle, dairy products, wool and mineral water. </li></ul><ul><li>In the coast of the centre region we have fishing, salt, tinned food industries, commercial ports and so on. </li></ul>
