2. Abstract
Chetan Bhagat is a well-known figure in the world of fiction writing, and he has earned the reputation as a relatable role model for
the contemporary Indian youth. His ability to connect with a wide readership sets him apart from many other authors. The themes
in his novels often centre around the experiences and challenges faced by young people. Bhagat has an extraordinary ability to
discuss very sensitive aspects on human relationships and religion, diversity and integrity, individuality and liberty,
commercialising and corrupting the education system and modern themes of love, politics and corruption. This research will use a
qualitative approach to examine the prominent themes in the selected novels of Chetan Bhagat. A thematic analysis of Bhagat's
novels will be conducted to identify the recurring themes and motifs. The study will also use a descriptive analysis to examine the
factors that have contributed to Bhagat's success as a bestselling author in India, including his writing style, use of language, and
marketing strategies. This research endeavours to examine the prominent themes in the novels - The Girl In Room No 105 and
One Arranged Murder by Chetan Bhagat, providing an intriguing insight from an Indian perspective. Through an in-depth
analysis of themes and the, the study aims to shed light on the study of youth and their success over life issues. This research,
limited to Bhagat's selected works, is significant in uncovering the secrets behind his literary success.

5. Chetan Bhagat
● Chetan Bhagat is an Indian author, columnist, and speaker. Bhagat is the author of five bestselling novels. All
five books have remained best sellers since their release and two have inspired Bollywood films.
● Time magazine named Chetan Bhagat as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.
● Chetan Bhagat has emerged as a leading voice in contemporary Indian literature with his nine novels that
explore themes such as campus life, love, sex, marriage, and career building.
● Chetan Bhagat’s writing style is different from other contemporary writers. His simplicity of writing the novel
has impressed the young readers. The issues that we feel our own are reflected in his writing. His men and
women observe morality in the warm heartedness of human relations. They are epicureans in nature. They
believe success comes to those who crave for practicability not for mugginess in life.
● Chetan Bhagat writes about how India can be a progressive society in the future. He talks about the rampant
corruption in India and how society should change to rid it. The central theme of his novels is central to his
dream of a free and forward thinking India. The book revolves around Bhagat’s thoughts and innovations on
how to improve the Indian Economy through social reforms

● "The Girl in Room No 105" is a gripping tale of love, mystery, and intrigue, penned by Chetan Bhagat.
● "The Novel is a heartwarming story of two individuals from different backgrounds, Keshav Purohit
from Rajasthan and Zara Lone from Kashmir.
● The intricate plot of the novel showcases Chetan Bhagat's ability to create a gripping story filled with
unexpected turns and twists. The novel also touches upon societal issues such as premarital sex and
pregnancy, highlighting the challenges faced by young adults in contemporary India.
● The novel in question showcases a departure from Chetan Bhagat's signature style of writing. It takes
on a more serious and sombre tone compared to his earlier works.
● One Arranged Murder is the ninth novel and the twelfth book overall written by Chetan Bhagat. The
novel is the sequel to Bhagat's 2018 novel The Girl in Room 105.
● The novel is set in Delhi - the well- known Malhotra Family. The plot of the novel has been divided
into various chapters but each chapter has not been given a separate title. All the 61 smaller chapters
are written in a reader friendly manner with special effects of flashbacks of romantic overtone.

corrupt practices of the police and political parties
● In his novel, "The Girl in Room No. 105," Bhagat highlights the issue of coaching classes in India.
● The society which is depicted in the novel is hybrid in nature; a mixed-outcome of Indian and western ways of life. The
Indian society represented in the novel seems highly affected by modernization and westernisation.

struggles of the youth and how they
overcome them to achieve their goals.
Chetan Bhagat is known for his portrayal of
modern middle-class youth in his novels. His
characters are relatable to the young
generation who strive to be successful in their
careers and lives.
His characters are projected with all required
newness but not in a single place they are
seen violating the Indian culture and ethics.
Bhagat creates situations that reflect the
contemporary lifestyle of metropolitan cities,
where his characters navigate through the
challenges of modern-day living.
"Life is one of those races in nursery school,
where you have to run with a marble in a
spoon kept in your mouth. If the marble falls,
there is no point in coming first”.
Chetan through his novels tries to explore the
mindset of youth, their struggle and fear for
making good career choices. Sometimes they
get carried away by societal pressure and the
other times politicians use their energy and
strength for wrongful and selfish use.

10. Conclusion
This research aims to analyse the novels of Chetan Bhagat, which shed light on the concerns and issues faced by young Indians as
they navigate their roles in the "New India" and explore what it means to be part of a new generation of Indians. Through this study,
the researcher seeks to examine the various themes reflected in Bhagat's novels that are relevant to contemporary Indian realities.
The dissertation also examines various themes that are relevant to contemporary Indian society, such as social and economic
inequality, gender roles and relations, educational opportunities, and the impact of technology and social media. Through the analysis
of these themes, the researcher aims to provide a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by young people in modern India and
how they navigate their roles within a rapidly changing society. During the research on Chetan Bhagat's novels, namely The Girl In
Room No 105 and One Arranged Murder, several limitations were encountered. Firstly, there is limited research material available on
these two novels, which can make it difficult to conduct comprehensive research. This may lead to a lack of in-depth analysis and
understanding of the themes and characters portrayed in the novels.Secondly, these novels may only cover certain topics or themes,
and the researcher may not be able to explore other aspects of the author's work or the societal issues that the novel touches upon.
This can limit the scope of the research and prevent a comprehensive analysis of the novel as a whole.
