The document provides details on several architectural projects completed by students, including:
1. A project for an eco-corridor in Zibido S. Giacomo, Italy that uses a variety of local tree species to create a biodiverse natural buffer between industrial areas and highways.
2. Architectural surveys and restoration plans for three mountain dwellings in Uschione, Italy, originally used as a residence, cattle shed, and cheese factory. The restoration maintains the original functions with some new windows and floors.
3. A new project for a sale point, restaurant, and kitchen in an area with existing buildings. The new wooden and metal structures reference the forms and hierarchy of the older ones.

Borneo Sporenburg is a neighbourhood in Amsterdam made up of several residences, very different one to
each other, built in 1990. Most of the 60 terraced houses were built upon individual requests.
I was in charge of re-designing one of those residences, called Kavel 45, owned and originally designed by
Stepan Recktorik.
The residence is meant to be both the private dwelling of the architect and its studio.

OCEANOGRAPHIC
The city of Cadiz represents a pe-
culiar structure of coastal southern
Spain. Its main feature is the central
position of the old town between
the bay and the ocean. The project
is developed in the area within San
Sebastian Castle and Santa Catali-
na Castle, along the seashore and
the popular beach “la Caleta”. The
project consists of a space open to
visitors and a space for authorized
personnel only.

After investigating on a little square next to the beach -not
much used and appreciated by citizens- we chose to set the
center below it. The idea was in fact not to alter the urban
impact on the seaside. The project has been awarded and
presented at a seminary in Jerez de la Frontera called “Terri-
torio y ciudad”.
8. 8
Spaces are all 3 meters high and lightened by
wide patios. Externally, the square is floored with
orthogonal tiles of stone. Empty spaces above and
below the square communicates in harmony with
green spaces and the several courtyards.

RESEARCH CENTER AND CULTURAL SPACE

The area interested by this project lies on the north shore of Montisola, in a place called Paradiso, where
there’s and old and abandoned hotel.

An irregular pitched roof cover the whole building: 10° layers on the left side, 15° layers on the right side. The
most elevated parts correspond to the most central rooms: the meeting room, the restaurant, the exhibition
room. While on the lower sides lie the the bedrooms (east) and the labs (west).
The project has been planned to have a little impact from the lake view. The building is therefore mapped as
a great courtyard, made up of several, independent segments. An enclosed corridor and a stretch of water
from the lake bring dynamism to the space. Furthermore, each segment offers a unique perspection on the
lake.

ECO-CORRIDOR
This project is set in Zibido S.Giacomo (Milan) and it’s meant to protect the natural environment (mostly far-
ming land) by the surrounding industrial zone and infrastructures (A7 and Giovi highways).
For this purpose we selected a wide range of local arboreal species, belonging to the Southern Rural Park. The
reason of such a variety is to promote a higher biodiversity level within the eco-corridor and to let the fauna
interact with the natural surroundings in a spontaneous way. Besides, a great variety means a better defense
against human interferences and a more pleasant scenery at once.

The intervention follows a proper scheme which determines the density of animal species, while the disposi-
tion of arboreal species is casual -except some intended for biomass systems. Each colour represents a kind
of plant. Of those, populus alba (violet) has been chosen as the predominant one, since it’s the only arboreal
local specie able to have a short life history that better suits to such plantation.

ARCHITECTURAL SURVEY AND
RESTORATION OF THE ALPINE PASTURE “PESCEDA”
project area
Three little dwellings find place on the alpine pasture called “Pesceda”, locality of Uschione in Valchiavenna
(Sondrio).
As first stage of the project, participants had been split into 10 groups of 4 people each and had been sent for
a land survey. Our group set on those three dwellings, located at 1300m a.s.l. (600m higher than the old town
level). During the investigation we took note of every detail in the area: flooring, trees, benches, etc.

Because there were some large trees, it’s been unworkable a complete foto-straightening; nevertheless we
managed to reconstruct with remarkable precision the perspective drawings here represented. Every little
detail has been handrawed, from stones to gaps. The survey let us suppose the three buildings were once
purposed as (left to right): residence, cattleshed and cheese factory.

The survey let us suppose the three buildings were once purposed as (left
to right): residence, cattleshed and cheese factory. For the restoration of
the building complex I decided to maintain the original function of each
building. Only the cheese factory will have a new loft running as guest
house for hikers.
The project was therefore intended to keep the original order of things
and to emphasize the access to the buildings with just an adjustment of
the flooring.

From the frontal drawing we can see how the original identity of dwellings has been kept intact: no new doors
or windows were added, old ones have been reinforced. On lateral drawings instead, new windows were
added, but still they align with those on the front side.

PROJECT OF SALE POINT AND RESTAURANT
new project plan
project area
The new project consists of three wooden and metal buildings, that in many ways recalls the existing buildings.
The new buildings have the same hierarchy in the forms of the older ones, we see it as almost every building
is a scale reduction of the other, what is visible in the plant and in grading. The main function is that of a small
restaurant, flanked by a kitchen and delicatessen store.

The same hierarchy that we find in the plant, it is found as well in the elevation, also the windows of the central
body, is composed of the repetition of a module, which is composed and recomposed . This module is also
present in the buildings next; The size of this form was obtained from the window of the north - east elevation
of the intervention of restoration. In this way it is created a further connection with the existing buildings .
