Introduction
Pollution is the introduction of harmful substances or
products into the environment. It can cause harm to
living organisms and the natural environment. Pollution
can be caused by natural disasters, human activities, or
a combination of both. The effects of pollution can be
seen in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the
food we eat.
Presentation title 3
Individuals role in the prevention of
pollution
Pollution is a man-made disease
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
• Individuals can reduce the amount of waste they produce by
reusing items and recycling materials such as paper, plastic,
and glass.
Presentation title 5
Conserve Energy
• Individuals can conserve energy by turning off lights and
appliances when not in use, using energy-efficient light bulbs,
and using public transportation or carpooling instead of driving
alone.
Presentation title 6
Use Environmentally-Friendly
Products
• Individuals can use environmentally-friendly products such as
biodegradable cleaning products, organic foods, and reusable
bags.
Presentation title 7
Plant Trees
Trees absorb carbon dioxide and other
pollutants from the air, so planting trees can
help reduce pollution.
Presentation title 8
Proper Disposal of Hazardous
Waste
Individuals should dispose of hazardous waste such as
batteries, electronics, and chemicals properly to prevent
them from polluting the environment.
Presentation title 9
Raise Awareness
Individuals can raise awareness about pollution by
educating others about the harmful effects of pollution
and encouraging them to take action to prevent it.

Role of pollution in climate change
Role of pollution in climate change
1.Pollution, especially air pollution, is one of the main causes of
climate change.
2.Human activities such as burning fossil fuels and mass
deforestation lead to the increase of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere, which traps heat inside the atmosphere through a
process called the greenhouse effect.
Presentation title 14
Presentation title 15
3. Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous
oxide are released into the atmosphere by human activities such as
burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes.
4. These gases trap heat from the sun and cause the Earth’s
temperature to rise, leading to climate change.
5. Air pollution also contributes to climate change by reducing the
amount of sunlight that reaches the Earth’s surface, which can affect
the growth of plants and other organisms.
6. Reducing pollution is essential to prevent climate change and
protect the environment.
current example-
• COP28 is the 28th annual United Nations (UN) climate meeting
where governments will discuss how to limit and prepare for
future climate change. The summit is being held in Dubai, in the
United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 30 November until 12
December 2023.
• Increase in usage of clean energy in India–
2002 – 17 %
2022- 23 %
Presentation title 16
Paris Agreement
• The Paris Agreement is a legally binding international treaty on climate
change. It was adopted by 196 Parties at the UN Climate Change
Conference.
• It entered into force in 4 Nov 2016.
• To achieve the temperature goal, Parties aim to reach global peaking
of greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible and to undertake
rapid reductions thereafter in accordance with best available
science, so as to achieve a balance between anthropogenic
emissions by sources and removals by sinks of greenhouse gases in
the second half of this century.
Presentation title 17
GST (Global Stocktake)
• The Global Stocktake (GST) is a five-yearly checkpoint that
was agreed upon in the 2015 Paris Agreement . Its aim is to
help governments track and evaluate their progress on climate
action and boost climate ambition over time. The GST focuses
on three aspects: mitigation, adaptation, and finance.
Presentation title 18
UNFCCC
• The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change (UNFCCC) is an international environmental treaty that
was adopted in 1992 to address the issue of climate
change. The treaty has been ratified by 197 countries and is
called to have a near-universal membership.
Presentation title 19
Summary
Pollution is not good for our climate, health, and environment. So it is
necessary to reduce pollution for the betterment of our health and our
environment.
It’s better to avoid those activities which produce a large amount of
pollution, We can’t stop those activities completely but we can try to
reduce it and can go for alternatives…
