Kinetic studies on malachite green dye adsorption from aqueous solutions by A...Open Access Research Paper
Water polluted by dyestuffs compounds is a global threat to health and the environment; accordingly, we prepared a green novel sorbent chemical and Physical system from an algae, chitosan and chitosan nanoparticle and impregnated with algae with chitosan nanocomposite for the sorption of Malachite green dye from water. The algae with chitosan nanocomposite by a simple method and used as a recyclable and effective adsorbent for the removal of malachite green dye from aqueous solutions. Algae, chitosan, chitosan nanoparticle and algae with chitosan nanocomposite were characterized using different physicochemical methods. The functional groups and chemical compounds found in algae, chitosan, chitosan algae, chitosan nanoparticle, and chitosan nanoparticle with algae were identified using FTIR, SEM, and TGADTA/DTG techniques. The optimal adsorption conditions, different dosages, pH and Temperature the amount of algae with chitosan nanocomposite were determined. At optimized conditions and the batch equilibrium studies more than 99% of the dye was removed. The adsorption process data matched well kinetics showed that the reaction order for dye varied with pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order. Furthermore, the maximum adsorption capacity of the algae with chitosan nanocomposite toward malachite green dye reached as high as 15.5mg/g, respectively. Finally, multiple times reusing of algae with chitosan nanocomposite and removing dye from a real wastewater has made it a promising and attractive option for further practical applications.
Improving the viability of probiotics by encapsulation methods for developmen...Open Access Research Paper
The popularity of functional foods among scientists and common people has been increasing day by day. Awareness and modernization make the consumer think better regarding food and nutrition. Now a day’s individual knows very well about the relation between food consumption and disease prevalence. Humans have a diversity of microbes in the gut that together form the gut microflora. Probiotics are the health-promoting live microbial cells improve host health through gut and brain connection and fighting against harmful bacteria. Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus are the two bacterial genera which are considered to be probiotic. These good bacteria are facing challenges of viability. There are so many factors such as sensitivity to heat, pH, acidity, osmotic effect, mechanical shear, chemical components, freezing and storage time as well which affects the viability of probiotics in the dairy food matrix as well as in the gut. Multiple efforts have been done in the past and ongoing in present for these beneficial microbial population stability until their destination in the gut. One of a useful technique known as microencapsulation makes the probiotic effective in the diversified conditions and maintain these microbe’s community to the optimum level for achieving targeted benefits. Dairy products are found to be an ideal vehicle for probiotic incorporation. It has been seen that the encapsulated microbial cells show higher viability than the free cells in different processing and storage conditions as well as against bile salts in the gut. They make the food functional when incorporated, without affecting the product sensory characteristics.
Evolving Lifecycles with High Resolution Site Characterization (HRSC) and 3-D...Joshua Orris
The incorporation of a 3DCSM and completion of HRSC provided a tool for enhanced, data-driven, decisions to support a change in remediation closure strategies. Currently, an approved pilot study has been obtained to shut-down the remediation systems (ISCO, P&T) and conduct a hydraulic study under non-pumping conditions. A separate micro-biological bench scale treatability study was competed that yielded positive results for an emerging innovative technology. As a result, a field pilot study has commenced with results expected in nine-twelve months. With the results of the hydraulic study, field pilot studies and an updated risk assessment leading site monitoring optimization cost lifecycle savings upwards of $15MM towards an alternatively evolved best available technology remediation closure strategy.
Optimizing Post Remediation Groundwater Performance with Enhanced Microbiolog...Joshua Orris
Results of geophysics and pneumatic injection pilot tests during 2003 – 2007 yielded significant positive results for injection delivery design and contaminant mass treatment, resulting in permanent shut-down of an existing groundwater Pump & Treat system.
Accessible source areas were subsequently removed (2011) by soil excavation and treated with the placement of Emulsified Vegetable Oil EVO and zero-valent iron ZVI to accelerate treatment of impacted groundwater in overburden and weathered fractured bedrock. Post pilot test and post remediation groundwater monitoring has included analyses of CVOCs, organic fatty acids, dissolved gases and QuantArray® -Chlor to quantify key microorganisms (e.g., Dehalococcoides, Dehalobacter, etc.) and functional genes (e.g., vinyl chloride reductase, methane monooxygenase, etc.) to assess potential for reductive dechlorination and aerobic cometabolism of CVOCs.
In 2022, the first commercial application of MetaArray™ was performed at the site. MetaArray™ utilizes statistical analysis, such as principal component analysis and multivariate analysis to provide evidence that reductive dechlorination is active or even that it is slowing. This creates actionable data allowing users to save money by making important site management decisions earlier.
The results of the MetaArray™ analysis’ support vector machine (SVM) identified groundwater monitoring wells with a 80% confidence that were characterized as either Limited for Reductive Decholorination or had a High Reductive Reduction Dechlorination potential. The results of MetaArray™ will be used to further optimize the site’s post remediation monitoring program for monitored natural attenuation.
2. 2
The objective in addressing global warming is to mitigate its effects
and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to limit the rise in global
temperatures, thereby protecting the environment, ecosystems,
and human well-being for current and future generations. This
involves transitioning to cleaner energy sources, implementing
sustainable practices, and fostering international cooperation to
combat climate change.
OBJECTIVE
3. 3
The objectives related to addressing water and air
pollution typically include:Environmental Protection: The
primary goal is to protect the environment from the
harmful effects of pollution, such as damage to
ecosystems, biodiversity, and natural resources.Public
Health: Reducing pollution helps safeguard public health
by minimizing exposure to pollutants that can cause
respiratory diseases, cancers, and other health problems.
5. A variety of environmental problems now affect our entire
world. As globalization continues and the earth's natural
processes transform local problems into international issues,
few societies are being left untouched by major
environmental problems.
Some of the largest problems now affecting the world are:
Water pollution.
AirPollution,GlobalWarming,
.
5
8. Every day, the average person inhales
about 20,000 liters of air. Every time
we breathe, we risk inhaling dangerous
chemicals that have found their way
into the air.
Air pollution includes all contaminants
found in the atmosphere. These
dangerous substances can be either in
the form of gases or particles.
8
AIR POLLUTION
9. ▣ producing increasing
amounts of pollution as
time has progressed,
and they now account
for the majority of
pollutants released into
the air.
Air pollution can be found
both outdoors and
indoors. Pollutants can
be trapped inside
buildings, causing
indoor pollution that
lasts for a long time.
The sources of air pollution
are both natural and
human-based. As one
might expect, humans
have been
9
10. Industrialization set in
motion the widespread use of
fossil fuels which are now the
main drivers of pollution as
we know it.
10
12. Of course, atmospheric pollution would not be such a
big problem if it weren’t for its harmful effects on
humans, animals, trees and the wider environment.
We can distinguish between short-term acute effects
and long-term chronic effects of air pollution.
Air pollutants enter the body primarily through the
respiratory system which thus becomes their main
victim.
Each air pollutant exerts their own specific adverse
impacts, ranging from mild to really damaging.
12
13. Output control, the opposite method, seeks to fix the problems
caused by air pollution. This usually means cleaning up an area that
has been damaged by pollution.
Input controls are usually more effective than output controls.
Output controls are also more expensive, making them less desirable
to tax payers and polluting industries.
Current air pollution control efforts are not all highly effective. In
wealthier countries, industries are often able to shift to methods that
decrease air pollution. In the United States, for example, air
pollution control laws have been successful in stopping air pollution
levels from rising. However, in developing countries and even in
countries where pollution is strictly regulated, much more needs to
be done.
13
14. ▣ Global warming, also known as
the greenhouse
immediately
effect,
received
international attention. Scientists,
environmentalists, and
governments around the world
took an interest in the subject.
▣ Global warming is called the
greenhouse effect because the
gases that are gathering above
the earth make the planet
comparable to a greenhouse. By
trapping heat near the surface of
the earth, the greenhouse effect is
warming the planet and
threatening the environment. 14
16. Global warming has a
variety of causes. One of the largest
factors contributing to global warming is
the general problem of overpopulation
and its many effects.
16
18. ▣ Many different gases can
increase the planet's
temperature. The number
of different products and
human activities that
contribute to global
warming are so numerous
that finding solutions to
the problem is very
difficult.
▣ Using a refrigerator
releases dangerous gases,
turning on the lights
requires energy from a
power plant, and driving
to work causes gas
emissions from the car.
Countless other normal
activities lead to global
warming.
18
20. ▣ Though having an
atmosphere is important,
the greenhouse effect may
be making it excessively
thick. The levels of gases
covering the Earth have
soared with
industrialization and
developed countries now
produce about 75% of
greenhouse gases.
20
23. ▣ The climate changes that
will result from global
warming are extremely
difficult to predict. The
weather is determined
by so many factors that
it is often compared to
chaos by scientists.
Changing the
temperature will likely
have some effect on the
planet's weather, but
just what that effect will
be is nearly impossible
to predict.
If temperatures do indeed rise
significantly, the most important
result would be that some
portion of the polar icecaps
would melt, raising global sea
levels.
23
25. ▣ The rise in sea levels would be disastrous for
some places. Islands would disappear,
meaning their millions of inhabitants would
have to relocate. Flooding would occur along
coastlines all over the world, displacing more
people and ruining cropland.

▣
In the case of major global warming and
melted ice caps, some countries might simply
cease to exist. Global warming,
if uncontrolled, could
cause a major catastrophe.

The conclusion regarding global warming, based on scientific consensus, is that it is
primarily caused by human activities, especially the emission of greenhouse gases like
carbon dioxide. It is leading to rising global temperatures, melting ice caps, more
frequent extreme weather events, and various environmental and societal impacts.
Mitigation efforts, such as reducing emissions and transitioning to cleaner energy
sources, are crucial to address this urgent global issue.
The conclusion regarding water pollution is that it is a significant environmental problem
caused by various factors, including industrial discharges, agricultural runoff, and improper
waste disposal. Water pollution can harm aquatic ecosystems, threaten human health, and
disrupt water supplies. Effective solutions involve stricter regulations, improved
wastewater treatment, sustainable agricultural practices, and public awareness to reduce
pollution and protect our water resources for future generations.
The conclusion on air pollution is that it poses a serious threat to human health,
ecosystems, and the environment. It is primarily caused by emissions from transportation,
industrial processes, and fossil fuel combustion. Air pollution can lead to respiratory
diseases, cardiovascular problems, and contribute to climate change. Addressing this issue
requires stringent regulations, transitioning to cleaner energy sources, promoting
sustainable transportation, and increasing public awareness to improve air quality and
safeguard our well-being.
33. Air pollution has many disastrous effects that need to be curbed. In
order to accomplish this, governments, scientists and environmentalists
are using or testing a variety of methods aimed at reducing pollution.
There are two main types of pollution control.
Input control involves preventing a problem before it occurs, or at
least limiting the effects the process will produce.
Five major input control methods exist. People may try to restrict
population growth use less energy, improve energy efficiency, reduce
waste, and move to non-polluting renewable forms of energy
production. Also, automobile-produced pollution can be decreased
with highly beneficial results.
33
34. ▣ The threat of global warming
is among the most important
of all modern environmental
problems. There are a variety
of ways of dealing with it,
each attempting to combat one
of the many causes of global
warming.
The problems that cause global warming
include overpopulation, deforestation ozone
depletion, garbage dumping, and many
others. These all have unique solutions
which are now being promoted by
environmentalists.
34
35. ▣ Certain laws and treaties are aimed at reducing the
emission of pollutants that result in global warming.
In 1988, the International Conference on the Changing
Atmosphere drew scientists and decision makers from
48 countries.
▣ Some policies could successfully reduce global
warming. Raising fossil fuels, taxing emissions, and
encouraging people to take environmentally friendly
action through such activities as planting trees will all
help.
▣ Because many problems leading to global warming are
caused or contributed to by overpopulation, people
are beginning to work to reduce family sizes. Family
planning services actually help in the fight against
global warming.

Interference with water and air pollution involves
actions and strategies to mitigate or reduce the
negative impacts of pollution. Here are some
common interference methods for addressing
water and air pollution:Water Pollution
Interference:Wastewater Treatment: Treating
sewage and industrial wastewater before
discharge into water bodies to remove pollutants
and contaminants.Regulations and Standards:
Implementing and enforcing water quality
standards and regulations to limit pollutant
discharges from industrial, agricultural, and
municipal sources.
