In the Catholic Church the willow (Polish: wierzba) symbolizes the resurrection and the immortality of the soul.

The preparations for Christmas begin many days before the actual celebration. Nearly everywhere women are cleaning windows in apartments and houses just before Christmas. The insides of the houses are also cleaned thoroughly. It is believed that if a house is dirty on Christmas Eve, it will remain dirty all next year.

In the past, the wafers were baked by organists or by religious and were distributed from house to house in the parish during Advent. Today, they are produced commercially and are sold in religious stores and houses. Sometimes an oplatek is sent in a greeting card to loved ones away from home.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

12. On the first day of spring people make dolls symbolizing winter and burn them in fires or throw them to the river or sea. It means winter is over and spring has come.
13. In spring we have some specific Easter traditions. The holiday has more of a religious significance. The period of Lent starts on Ash Wednesday. On that day all the churches hold services, at which ash is sprinkled on the worshippers heads as a symbol of humility and the inevitability of death. During Lent, many Catholics gave up some of their pleasures, for e.g. eating chocolate or drinking alcohol.
14. The last Sunday before Easter is called Palm Sunday. On this day, worshippers take the richly decorated catkin branches to church where they are consecrated by the priest. Palm Sunday is the beginning of the Holy Week. Another significant day is Good Friday when Jesus Christ died on the Cross. On this day, Polish people refrain from eating meat and they go to church to pray at the symbolic tomb of Christ.
15. Holy Saturday is the time for painting " Easter eggs". On this day, brightly coloured eggs, a piece of bread, a sausage, salt and the Easter Lamb made of butter or sugar are put into a basket and taken to church for consecration. The most important day of Easter is the Sunday, the Christian feast of the Resurrection of Jesus. On this day Polish families have a rich breakfast consisting mainly of eggs ( they are eaten to mark the birth of new life), sausages, meat, cakes and a special dessert made of cheese and delicacies called " pascha". All the churches hold services and many people participate at Mass and take Holy Communion.
