 Teaching approach:
I will use PPP ( PRESENTATION - PRACTICE- PRODUCTION), based in the Natural Approach, through it students are
encouraged to speak English in a natural way but it is integrated with a PPP APPROACH because students learn the topics in
a coherent context.
 Materials and resources:
Computer- projector- speakers- copies
 Pedagogical use of ICT in class:
I will use the projector to show them the pictures.
 Seating arrangement:
Students will sit on their chairs, they will stand up to greet as every class and when they need to come to the
desk to ask something or to complete some exercise on the board.
 Cooperative work
They work in a cooperative way when they work in pairs.
 Assessment:
I will assess them during the class when they use the past of to be in the correct way: affirmative, negative and
interrogative form.
Routine: 5’
Purpose:
-To greet students.
When I go into the classroom, students are sitting on their chairs, they stand up and we greet.
Me: “Hello, everybody, how are you today?
Students: “Hello, teacher, we are fine!
Me: Great, I´m fine too!
Transition: Wonderful, Let do the next activity!
Warm-up 10’:
- To get students into the mood of work.
- To revise some of the contents the students learnt in previous classes that help them to understand the
new teaching points.
Now, we are going to work with an oral activity.
I will show S a photo of a famous singer and I will tell that he is my favourite singer and I will ask them some
questions about him to begin to talk about music.
I like this singer . He is my favourite singer.
Who knows him?
What was his name? And his nickname?
Do you remember it?
Was he a reggaeton singer?
What kind of music did he sing?
Do you know any of his songs?
What famous songs do you know ?
Where did he come from?
Transition: Ok , fantastic!
Presentation (10’)
-To introduce the new teaching points.
-I will give S a paragraph about Rodrigo´s life that they will read it in groups of three or four.
Text
Rodrigo Bueno was born in Córdoba in 1973. His nickname was El Potro.
He was one of the most influential cuarteto singers in those years. He was a famous and popular singer.
Many people consider him the best singer in our country together with Gilda, but she was a cumbia singer.
His friend La Mona Jimenez helped him to begin singing.
At first his hair was long and black but in his last years it was short and colourful. His wife was Patricia
and his sons were Ramiro and Alejandro.
In 2000 he was thirteen times with his concert in The Luna Park. His famous songs were “Lo mejor del
amor” and “La mano de Dios”.
He died in 2000 when he was twenty seven years old in a car accident
-After they will read the text, I will ask three or four of them to read it aloud and we will talk about the
meaning of the text. Who are they? Who know them?Are they singers? Did you listen their songs?
- I will write these sentences on the blackboard to show and explain them the present and the past form.
- I will ask them to encourage them to say the correct answer:

Were Gilda and Rodrigo from Colombia? No, they weren´t.
-Then, I will explain them the past form in the board. I will ask them to help me , encourage them to realize the
correct form:

Transition: Ok, very good now we will work on yours copybooks! (enthusiastically)
Development (15)
Purpose:
-To register the new teaching point in their copybooks.
-To practise the new teaching points.
Activity 1
Now, we are going to copy the chart with the grammar in their copybooks.
They will paste the text about Rodrigo in their copybooks.
Activity 2
After they will paste the paragraph in their copybooks , they will write true or false in these sentences and
they will correct the false.
Example:
Rodrigo was form Buenos Aires. Rodrigo wasn´t from Buenos Aires. He was from Córdoba.
1. Rodrigo was born in Córdoba in 2000..................
2. Rodrigo and Gilda were cuarteto singers...............
3. His hair was long and colorful...................
4. They were in the Luna Park thirteen times..............
Activity 3
Now, I will give them a text with information about Gilda and they will complete it with:

Gilda´s life
Miriam Alejandra Bianchi, artistically known as Gilda, ........ a singer and composer of tropical music and
Argentine cumbia. She ....... born in Buenos Aires in 1961 and she died in Entre Ríos, in 1996 in a car accident.

Mariel and Fabrizio ........ her children. Her mother ........ a piano teacher. Mariel and her mother ............in the
accident and they died.

Valiente” and “Fuiste”.
- When they finish it, we will correct it in an oral way.
Activity 4
- Now, they will answer these questions about the Gilda ´s life.
Answer with the text:
1) Was she from Córdoba?
2) Where was she born?
3) Were Mariel and Fabrizio her children?
4) Was Rodrigo her friend?
5) Was “De corazón a corazón” her most popular song?
- Now we will correct the answers.
Activity 5
-Now we are going to write about ourselves.
-Read the teacher´s information:

My favourite food was pizza and my favourite drink was orange juice.
My favourite cartoons were La Pantera rosa and El correcaminos.
My hobbies were playing sports and painting.

What about playing some music so that students identify the singers?
Try to promote language awareness, instead of providing the rules.
Do check students´ language level. I would say they belong to elementary level if they
must learn the past form of the verb to be.

Fecha de primera entrega: 4/10/19 • Teaching points: To be past : affirmative- negative - interrogative  Aims: during this lesson , learners will be able to - Develop their communicative skills answering about past activities.. -Recognize the use of the past form of to be when they talk about past actions.  Language focus. LEXIS FUNCTION STRUCTURE PRONUNCIATION REVISION Present to be : am / am not is / isn´t are / aren´t Talk about present activities I am at school now. I am not at school now. She is a …….. She isn´t a ….. They are ….../They aren´t ... NEW Past to be : was / wasn´t / were / weren´t Talk about past activities. I was at home yesterday. I wasn´t at school . Were you at school? Yes, I was. No, I wasn´t /ɒ /  Teaching approach: I will use PPP ( PRESENTATION - PRACTICE- PRODUCTION), based in the Natural Approach, through it students are encouraged to speak English in a natural way but it is integrated with a PPP APPROACH because students learn the topics in a coherent context.  Materials and resources: Computer- projector- speakers- copies  Pedagogical use of ICT in class: I will use the projector to show them the pictures.  Seating arrangement: Students will sit on their chairs, they will stand up to greet as every class and when they need to come to the desk to ask something or to complete some exercise on the board.
  • 2.  Cooperative work They work in a cooperative way when they work in pairs.  Assessment: I will assess them during the class when they use the past of to be in the correct way: affirmative, negative and interrogative form. Routine: 5’ Purpose: -To greet students. When I go into the classroom, students are sitting on their chairs, they stand up and we greet. Me: “Hello, everybody, how are you today? Students: “Hello, teacher, we are fine! Me: Great, I´m fine too! Transition: Wonderful, Let do the next activity! Warm-up 10’: - To get students into the mood of work. - To revise some of the contents the students learnt in previous classes that help them to understand the new teaching points. Now, we are going to work with an oral activity. I will show S a photo of a famous singer and I will tell that he is my favourite singer and I will ask them some questions about him to begin to talk about music. I like this singer . He is my favourite singer. Who knows him? What was his name? And his nickname? Do you remember it? Was he a reggaeton singer? What kind of music did he sing? Do you know any of his songs? What famous songs do you know ? Where did he come from? Transition: Ok , fantastic! Presentation (10’) -To introduce the new teaching points.
  • 3. -I will give S a paragraph about Rodrigo´s life that they will read it in groups of three or four. Text Rodrigo Bueno was born in Córdoba in 1973. His nickname was El Potro. He was one of the most influential cuarteto singers in those years. He was a famous and popular singer. Many people consider him the best singer in our country together with Gilda, but she was a cumbia singer. His friend La Mona Jimenez helped him to begin singing. At first his hair was long and black but in his last years it was short and colourful. His wife was Patricia and his sons were Ramiro and Alejandro. In 2000 he was thirteen times with his concert in The Luna Park. His famous songs were “Lo mejor del amor” and “La mano de Dios”. He died in 2000 when he was twenty seven years old in a car accident -After they will read the text, I will ask three or four of them to read it aloud and we will talk about the meaning of the text. Who are they? Who know them?Are they singers? Did you listen their songs? - I will write these sentences on the blackboard to show and explain them the present and the past form. - I will ask them to encourage them to say the correct answer: PAST Rodrigo was a popular singer. Rodrigo and Gilda were quartet singers Was Rodrigo from Córdoba? Yes, he was. Were Gilda and Rodrigo from Colombia? No, they weren´t. -Then, I will explain them the past form in the board. I will ask them to help me , encourage them to realize the correct form: PRESENT PAST AFFIRMATIVE am / is are was were NEGATIVE Am not/ isn´t Aren´t Wasn´t Weren´t INTERROGATIVE Is she.....? Are they....? Was she....? Were they..? -Then I will write the next sentence on the blackboard to explain “was born” and “were born” phrases that appear in the text: Rodrigo Bueno was born in Córdoba. I was born in Macachin in 1070. My parents were born in Santa Rosa. Transition: Ok, very good now we will work on yours copybooks! (enthusiastically) Development (15) Purpose: -To register the new teaching point in their copybooks. -To practise the new teaching points. Activity 1
  • 4. Now, we are going to copy the chart with the grammar in their copybooks. They will paste the text about Rodrigo in their copybooks. Activity 2 After they will paste the paragraph in their copybooks , they will write true or false in these sentences and they will correct the false. Example: Rodrigo was form Buenos Aires. Rodrigo wasn´t from Buenos Aires. He was from Córdoba. 1. Rodrigo was born in Córdoba in 2000.................. 2. Rodrigo and Gilda were cuarteto singers............... 3. His hair was long and colorful................... 4. They were in the Luna Park thirteen times.............. Activity 3 Now, I will give them a text with information about Gilda and they will complete it with: was- were - wasn´t- weren´t- Gilda´s life Miriam Alejandra Bianchi, artistically known as Gilda, ........ a singer and composer of tropical music and Argentine cumbia. She ....... born in Buenos Aires in 1961 and she died in Entre Ríos, in 1996 in a car accident. She .........a famous singer and teacher too. Her first band .............La Barra, they .......... four members. Mariel and Fabrizio ........ her children. Her mother ........ a piano teacher. Mariel and her mother ............in the accident and they died. Her first album.............” De corazon a corazón” and her best and the most popular songs ……….. “Corazon Valiente” and “Fuiste”. - When they finish it, we will correct it in an oral way. Activity 4 - Now, they will answer these questions about the Gilda ´s life. Answer with the text: 1) Was she from Córdoba? 2) Where was she born? 3) Were Mariel and Fabrizio her children? 4) Was Rodrigo her friend? 5) Was “De corazón a corazón” her most popular song? - Now we will correct the answers. Activity 5 -Now we are going to write about ourselves. -Read the teacher´s information: I was born in Macachin , in 1070. When I was seven years old my favourite toys were my bike and my dolls. My favourite food was pizza and my favourite drink was orange juice. My favourite cartoons were La Pantera rosa and El correcaminos. My hobbies were playing sports and painting.
  • 5. -Now , we are going to write about ourselves: I was born in ………………………….. When I was seven years old my favourite toys were ………………………………………. What about playing some music so that students identify the singers? Try to promote language awareness, instead of providing the rules. Do check students´ language level. I would say they belong to elementary level if they must learn the past form of the verb to be.
