2. WHAT IS POETRY?
Poetry is the rhythmical
composition, written or
spoken, by elevated
emotions.
Basically, poetry is expressing yourself in
writing means or speaking. Poetry doesn’t
HAVE to rhythmic, actually most poets
don’t write in rhythm any longer.

There are many different Tanka

different authors like to use.

4. PARTS OF A POEM
Line- A line is one straight line

great depth to a
poem, or make the
poem sound just
plain silly so be
careful if you do
choose to use it!

famous author that you like.
Print it out, bring it to class and
share it with the class. Tell us
what you think about it, what
you think it means, and any
other indications the author
may have had.
