Pocket Toner® NX8 Cable Kit quickly and easily test coax and telephone cables for continuity, AC and DC voltage, shorts, opens and 50-75 Ω termination—8x faster, all in a single, versatile kit.
This document summarizes the design of the secondary systems for the North Sydney Zone Substation upgrade project by Ausgrid, which implemented IEC 61850 communication. Key aspects of the design included separating 'A' and 'B' protection systems onto independent ethernet networks, using multivendor relays and intelligent electronic devices (IEDs), and applying consistent logical design rules. Relays were configured to directly report signals and trip targets to improve information available for operational decisions. The challenges of implementing interoperability between devices from different vendors within this framework are also discussed.
Pocket Toner connects to any voice, data, or video cable to detect open/short circuits, continuity, AC/DC voltage* and dial tone* all while protecting up to 52 volts.

This document describes a home automation system that uses GSM technology and DTMF signaling to control devices remotely using a mobile phone. The system includes a DTMF decoder, logic ICs, transistors, and relays. Pressing buttons on the mobile phone generates DTMF tones that are decoded then used by the logic ICs to activate the relays and control electrical loads such as appliances and robots wirelessly from a distance without needing a separate remote controller.
The document provides operating instructions for the Nady DKW-1 GT wireless system. The system offers interference-free performance with a range of up to 500 feet for wireless guitar, bass, and other instruments. The instructions explain how to set up the receiver by plugging it in and extending the antenna, and how to operate the bodypack transmitter by inserting a battery and connecting an instrument cable. The transmitter can be muted or turned on fully, and proper use of the system helps avoid audio distortion or scratchy noises.
The American Fibertek 440C-E Series transmits four channels of high-quality video over distances up to 8 km using a single multimode optical fiber. It can transmit video over optical loss budgets between 5-17 dB and requires a minimum loss of 5 dB. Diagnostic indicators provide system status information and the equipment can be ordered as standalone modules or rack cards for mounting in card cages.

It describes the product's functionality for receiving and demultiplexing four video signals transmitted over one multimode fiber optic cable from a corresponding transmitter unit. Installation instructions are included for mounting, power connection from a 12V DC source, fiber optic connection via ST connector, and video output connections via BNC connectors. Status indicators for each video channel and optical input are also described.
The document provides operating instructions for the Nady DKW-1 GT wireless system. It describes how to set up the receiver by plugging it in and extending the antenna. It also explains how to operate the bodypack transmitter by inserting a battery, connecting an instrument cable, and sliding the switch to turn it on. The summary notes that when the transmitter is on, the receiver's signal light will illuminate and occasional flickering of the audio peak light is normal during use.
Interfacing methods of microcontrollerDiwaker Pant
The document discusses microcontroller interfacing and is presented by Diwaker Pant. It defines interfacing as the transfer of data between microcontrollers and peripherals using buses. Interfacing is needed to connect a microcontroller's computation capabilities to external signals or devices to enable human-computer interaction. Various interfacing methods for microcontrollers like wires, buses, and serial interfaces like I2C and SPI are described. Examples of interfacing microcontrollers to devices like memory and displays are provided. In conclusion, suitable interfacing methods can be used to create human-machine interaction and make technology more user friendly.

This document describes a simple mobile phone detector circuit. The circuit uses a disk capacitor to capture gigahertz signals from an active cell phone's transmission within a 1-2 meter radius. An op-amp converts the captured signal to a voltage that triggers an LED and buzzer when a phone is detected. The detector could be used to prevent phone use in places like exam halls, secret meetings, hospitals, or airplanes where signals could interfere with electronics.

This document describes a mobile phone sniffer circuit that can detect mobile phone activity in restricted areas. The circuit uses a BFR96 transistor and IC1 TL071 op-amp to amplify signals from a sensor diode. The amplified signals are then fed to an IC2 LA4440 audio power amplifier to produce an audible tone from a speaker when mobile phone activity is detected within 8 meters. The circuit can be improved by using a battery power supply instead of AC to avoid interference, replacing the speaker with a buzzer, and adding a better antenna for increased range.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

One such alternative that has garnered significant attention and acclaim is Nitrux Linux 3.5.0, a sleek, powerful, and user-friendly Linux distribution that promises to redefine the way we interact with our devices. With its focus on performance, security, and customization, Nitrux Linux presents a compelling case for those seeking to break free from the constraints of proprietary software and embrace the freedom and flexibility of open-source computing.
Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
