Amos Vusi Msiza shares his experience taking the Teaching Studies 3B module fully online. He found that while challenging at first, developing a professional learning network through the module's activities was interesting and helped him grow. The activities were designed to sequentially build his network, starting with personal biographies and exploring different platforms and educational groups. While communication through Blackboard was solely text-based, the activities themselves allowed for independent research and finding what worked for each student. Through participating, Msiza created a network that will continue developing and motivated him to be a more critical and qualified teacher.

PLN
This document describes the author's personal learning network (PLN) that they created to enhance their teaching skills. It includes social bookmarking sites like Stumbleupon and Diigo that allow bookmarking and sharing of web resources. Presentation sites like Slideshare are used to upload and view teaching presentations. Google Drive stores files that can be accessed anywhere. LinkedIn and TES are used to join groups of teachers and find resources. Social media sites like Facebook, Google+ and email allow sharing information and collaborating with other educators. Google Sites was used to create a learning network for life science students. Overall, this PLN brings together various online tools and networks to facilitate learning and teaching.
My Personal Learning Network # 2

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and

- 2. What is a PLN? It is an entire collection of people with whom you engage and exchange information. It is usually done online.
- 3. Why use a PLN? Because two heads are better than one!
- 4. Where can I get information? From any social networking sites or blogs such as… Facebook Twitter RSS Tumblr Flickr Wordpress Just follow or ‘like’ educational people so you can share your ideas with them.
- 5. Who will provide me with information? Other educators whether they are first year teachers or more experienced. The more people you share your information and ideas with the more resources you will have.
- 6. When do I start my PLN? Now! As soon as you start your own Personal Learning Network the better. You can never have too many resources, ideas and information.
- 7. How do I start my PLN? Begin by either creating a social networking site or a blog. Start following educational people, other teachers or anybody who you think has great ideas that you could use in your classroom. Now start sharing your ideas with everybody else and you can take other people’s ideas to create your own resource file or your PLN.

- 9. A few more tips... Don’t forget it’s your PLN which means you can do whatever works for you to gather and collect resources. Electronic copies of various resources such as lesson plans are best because they cannot be lost. The sky is the limit!!
