Location Recce ACTIVITY IS THE LOCATION SUITABLE FOR PRODUCTION? Look around the location. Yes, the location is suitable. Talk to people there, organise filming permissions. Permission to film there has been given. Identify the equipment you need to use. The equipment has been identified for the shoot. Examine and identify any potential health and safety issues (Both people and equipment related issues e.g. crowd numbers being controlled; using safe cabling practices and video equipment being set up in a sensible location that does not block access points or that damages the environment or frightens livestock) The location is suitable to use, there are no major health and safety problems and nothing that could cause significant damage to the equipment. Check the position of the sun and lighting conditions. The lighting is unnatural and therefore checking the sun position is unnecessary. Look for interesting shots and camera angles. I’m going to take lots of shots from different angles to give an option on picking the best shots. Check the electricity supply. (For the majority of exterior locations you will be using battery power) The electrical supply is fine, just need the camera to be charged. Do a test sound/video recording and check for potential noise problems (traffic noise may be a problem; is a location on a main flight path to an airport?) N/A Confirm times and dates with technical crew/actors All the people involved with the shoot know when and where to go. Arrange car parking, access, loading, security, where possible. N/A Make sure everybody concerned with your photo shoot knows what is happening and what is expected of them when on location. Yes, everyone has been informed and been given the necessary information.
