    Limited Economic Opportunities

        one day, a desktop operation system vendor might
        just integrate your core ideas. Ultimately, PKM

  • 12.   Too  theoreNcal   “TheoreNcal  discussions  about  definiNons  -­‐  if  they  are  not   targeted  at  solving  a  concrete  pracNcal  problem.”   “too  narrow  ways  of  thinking  not  focusing  on  pracNcal   applicaNon”   “     Too  much  focus  on  specific  pracNcal  problems   “Much  research  seems  to  be  focused  on  far-­‐future   applicaNons  (at  least  in  the  social  semanNc  desktop   community)  or  on  school-­‐level  (in  the  e-­‐learning   community).”     Too  ocen  compared  to  other  topics     “RelaNng  PKM  to  PIM  or  PDM  is  like  comparing  the  running   of  a  business  to  the  funcNon  of  a  database”  
  • 13.   Scientifically Shallow •  “PKM's hot air approach to recommending stuff just because its in corporate KM or because 'I think so'.   • 14.   Limited Economic Opportunities •  “The economic exploitation possibilities are mediocre. There are so many vendors and so many different tools. Whenever you build a new tool, users want it to be integrated with a plethora of existing tools. And, one day, a desktop operation system vendor might just integrate your core ideas. Therefore don't ask the computer scientists if you want to create PKM- Tools. Start by asking the psychologists instead.”
  • 17.   Desires •  “Why is it [PKM] not taught in schools?” •  “I wish more scientifically successful people would explain their PKM experience, although I'm afraid of the stories they would tell.” •  “lets look for standards!” •  “Even though cognitive and learning styles are not yet sufficiently proven (and of course are not as simple as visual - auditory - kinesthetic), this does not mean that they don't exist and could be ignored for PKM.”   Confession •  "PKM is still very new to me (in subject rather than concept).
