This pilot study examined the main asthma symptoms in 175 secondary school students in Tripoli, Libya. The researchers administered a questionnaire assessing symptoms like coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. They found that symptoms of allergy to animals/dust and allergic rhinitis were significantly more common in one gender versus the other. The study aims to identify the most discriminating asthma symptoms among students to facilitate earlier diagnosis. It recommends increased asthma education, health screenings, and further research on asthma epidemiology in Libya.
