PHYSICAL SELF
Physical Self- defined as
the individual’s self
perception of his/her own
physical characteristics,
including appearance,
health, fitness, and body
image.
Physical self includes
various dimensions such
as:
1. Appearance- this
pertains to how an
individual views their
physical appearance, such
asbody shape, size, skin
color, hair color and style.
2. Physical ability-This
dimension refers to the
way people perceive their
physical capability to
perform various activities
or sports.
3. Health and wellness- It
refers to how people perceive
their overall health status,
which includes fitness level,
health habits such as
exercise, diet, sleep, and
other lifestyle behaviors
which impact their physical
well-being.
4. Body image- This refers
to an individual's mental
concept and perception of
their body wherein they
have positive or negative
feelings about their body.
Physical self-concept can be
influenced by personal
experiences, social and
cultural factors, media
exposure, and even genetics.
It can impact a person's
mental health and overall
well-being.
