BIM Show Live 2015 - Collaboration and IFC in the NetherlandsLéon Berlo
This document discusses collaborative design and engineering using Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) in the Netherlands. It describes how research found that having a central shared model is not necessary or preferable for collaboration. Instead, the concept of reference models where each party shares only what is needed for others to do their work is more effective. Examples show how different parties can export tailored IFC views from their models for coordination. National BIM guidelines have been developed that outline how to collaborate using discipline models and IFC data exchange without a single shared model.

The document discusses using systems biology and genetics approaches to improve drug discovery for diabetes. It argues that current approaches have high failure rates due to a lack of understanding disease biology. It proposes using multi-disciplinary experiments and computational modeling to map signaling networks, identify modulation points, and predict drug targets. This would require new academic-industry partnerships and integrating various omics data to better understand disease mechanisms and improve drug development outcomes.

The document discusses the evolution of the Indian pharmaceutical industry over five phases from 1950 to 2010. It describes the industry's size, major players, exports, and relationship to GDP. The industry has grown from being dominated by foreign companies to becoming a major domestic and international player. It faces strengths in areas like manufacturing but weaknesses in research and development. Opportunities for growth include increased exports and partnerships with multinational companies. Threats include pressure from patent regulations and drug price controls. The industry is projected to continue strong growth and become a $20 billion market by 2015.
1. Sugarcane and sugar beets are the primary sources of sugar.
2. There are three main types of sugar - white, brown, and liquid. White sugar is further divided into various grades based on crystal size. Brown sugars contain varying amounts of molasses. Liquid sugars include invert sugar, syrups, and molasses.
3. Sugar provides calories but has few nutrients. Sugar has 398 Kcal, 12mg calcium and 0.5mg iron per 100g.
Lupin conducted a VRIO analysis to evaluate its resources and capabilities. Most factors like manufacturing units, human resources, products, and brand awareness were found to be neither rare nor difficult to imitate in the pharmaceutical industry. However, research and development, brand equity, and social equity were considered rare but imitable. While Lupin's organization supports its goals, its temporary competitive advantage in tuberculosis drugs suggests it focus more on specialty drugs and new markets to achieve sustained advantage.

The document discusses Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygienic Practices (GHP). It provides background on the development of international food safety standards by organizations like Codex Alimentarius and ISO. GMP covers all aspects of food production to ensure quality and safety, including facilities, equipment, employee training, sanitation, and process controls. GHP focuses on minimum hygiene requirements throughout the food chain from production to consumption. Both are important frameworks to protect consumer health.

Information Age Business Processes for ManufacturersMike Bordenaro
This document discusses opportunities for manufacturers to adapt their business processes for the Information Age by embracing web-based technologies. It notes that industries like travel, communications, and financial markets have been transformed by the web, and owners of large real estate portfolios now seek partners with digital capabilities. Manufacturers can help owners track building assets online by connecting people to needed project information and helping Federal Agencies achieve cost savings through web-based processes. The document provides examples of how starting with basic data formats like Excel and sharing information objects and models on the web through standards like IFC and GUIDs can improve collaboration and information sharing across building projects.
This document outlines the key points from a lecture on e-business. It introduces the lecturer and their qualifications. This document discusses two case studies of digital business model innovation in small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) in Brandenburg, Germany that received support from the Innovation Centre of Modern Industry Brandenburg (IMI). The case studies followed SMEs that pursued either a growth orientation or profitability orientation in their digital business model innovation processes. For the growth-oriented Company A, their process started with understanding customer needs and adding an online shop, then an ERP system and connecting IT systems as they grew. For the profitability-oriented Company B, their process began with modern production facilities and ERP, then expanding into new products, customers, and online channels as they focused on profitability. Both companies showed how digital

Keynote presentation at BPM 29-9-2011 http://bpm-congres.nl/ about potential for Coordination as a Service..organizations that coordinate as core competence and realize this mostly with SAAS
Ad van Goor held his farewell symposium at the VU Amsterdam.
vakgebieden. Financiële, marketing- of ICT-kennis toepassen
in de logistiek ziet hij als noodzakelijk voor de vooruitgang
van het vakgebied. Een inspiratiebron voor ons allen..
The document discusses visions and challenges for road transport and logistics by the year 2035. THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

Temple of Asclepius in Thrace. Excavation resultsKrassimira Luka
The temple and the sanctuary around were dedicated to Asklepios Zmidrenus. This name has been known since 1875 when an inscription dedicated to him was discovered in Rome. The inscription is dated in 227 AD and was left by soldiers originating from the city of Philippopolis (modern Plovdiv).
