Johnson & Wales University Helps Dish Out Thanksgiving
Meals to the Needy at Rosa Linda’s Mexican Café
WHAT: For the 5th
year in a row, over 15Johnson & Wales University students, faculty and staff
members will help serve and prepare food as well as create food baskets for the needy during
the week of Thanksgiving. Oscar Aguirre, who graduated from JWU in 2001, helps manage
the Thanksgiving dinner for Rosa Linda’s Mexican Café.

Wednesday, November 21, 2007 from 10:00am – 1:00pm
Thursday, November 22, 2007 from 10:00am – 3:00pm

DETAILS:
• Rosa Linda’s started serving Thanksgiving Day Dinner to the hungry and homeless in
1985. Their children (one of whom is Oscar) have continued their parent’s legacy.
• Last year they fed a combined total of about 3,500 meals and they expect to exceed that
number this year.
• They provide the following food: shredded turkey, green chile, rice, beans, stuffing and
dessert for the dinner and also offer food baskets to everyone that comes in to the
restaurant.
• Deliveries will be made to the elderly and home bound who can not make it to the
restaurant.
• Students (who are staying on campus during the holiday break) will help serve meals on
Thanksgiving from 12:30pm – 4:30pm.
• On Monday from 12:30pm – 4:30pm and Wednesday from 10:00am – 1:00pm, the staff
from the University Library and Career Development offices will be there to assist in the
preparation of the meals.
• The University also helped to secure food items (such as pies, cakes, and cookies) for
the meal and the food baskets.
