Education reference: Ainsley Carter
I am pleased to recommend Ainsley Carter for the Australia-Indonesia Youth
Exchange Program. I had the pleasure of meeting Ainsley through her participation
in the intensive-mode senior level, ‘Australia and Asia’, offered by the National
Centre for Australian Studies at Monash University in June-July 2015. As well as
lectures and seminars, this unit includes a two-week study tour of Indonesia. It is an
extremely demanding unit, both intellectually and on a personal level. It involves an
intensive level of face-to-face contact with teachers and other students, and brings
students in contact with people across a range of levels and positions, and from a
multitude of cultures and backgrounds.
Having come to know Ainsley, I have no hesitation in speaking to her capacities.
She has a clear interest in politics and international relations, particularly in
Southeast Asia. In the classroom, she has a good capacity for clear analysis and is
a very gifted writer. She is also eager for the opportunity to apply her learning to a
real-world environment.
Ainsley is intelligent and takes a keen interest in her surroundings; moreover she is
a natural people person, with the capacity to strike a conversation with people from
all cultures and backgrounds. She would make an ideal ambassador for Australian
students abroad, as she is approachable, has a ready smile and treats everyone
with warmth and respect.
Sincerely,
Dr. Agnieszka Sobocinska
