HOW TO PRONOUNCE PLURALS
PLURALS OR THIRD PERSON
There are three kinds of pronunciation when
we refer to plurals or third person.
-First category [ s ]
-Second category [ z ]
-Third category [ әz ]
FIRST CATEGORY [ S ]
When the final sound is voiceless the “s”
remains voiceless too.
Example:
Stop (voiceless) Stops [s]
Lamp (voiceless) Lamps [s]
Lock (voiceless) Locks [s]
Post (voiceless) Posts [s]
Dot (voiceless) Dots [s]
Fruit (voiceless) Fruits [s]
Belief (voiceless) Beliefs [s]
SECOND CATEGORY [ Z ]
When the final sound is voiced the “s” turns
into a voiced sound.
Example:
Car (voiced) Cars [z]

[z], and [s] the “s” turns into [әz]

PRONUNCIATION OF PAST
There are three kinds of pronunciation when we
refer to past of regular verbs
-First category [ t ]
-Second category [ d ]
-Third category [ әd ]
FIRST CATEGORY [ T ]
When the final sound is voiceless the “ed” is
pronounced [t].
Example:
Stop (voiceless) Stopped [t]
Walk (voiceless) Walked [t]
Push (voiceless) Pushed [t]
Dance (voiceless) Danced [t]
Talk (voiceless) Talked [t]
Slice (voiceless) Sliced [t]

SECOND CATEGORY [ D ]
When the final sound is voiced the “ed” turns
into a [d]
