This document outlines a philosophy of Christian education. It argues that education should pursue God's absolute truth, not just facts. A Christian education views all subjects as opportunities to learn about God and his work through both special and general revelation. Educators play an important role in ensuring students understand content through the lens of truth and what it reveals about God and humanity. The goal is for students to know God better by better understanding his creation.

We define Christian education as an educational process in which God works through His committed teachers, biblical methods, and truthful curriculum materials to build disciples with the biblical world view, character, and skills necessary to fulfill God's calling and live to His glory.
The RKUC-GIBU philosophy of Christian education is expressed in the entirety of the RKUC-GIBU Teacher's Manual, Christ-Centered
Teacher's Manual for Early Childhood, and RKUC-GIBU Standard Procedures. We define Christian education as an educational process in which God works through His committed teachers, biblical methods, and truthful curriculum materials to build disciples with the biblical world view, character, and skills necessary to fulfill God's calling and live to His glory. We recognize that Christian schools have distinctive, which not only separate them from secular schools (those which leave the God of Scripture out), but also distinguish them from each other. The purpose of this summary is to concisely highlight the why, who, what, when, and where of the RKUC-GIBU concept of Christian education so that interested persons can be alerted to the RBCS distinctive. Extensive biblical support for these distinctive is provided in the documents referenced above.

INTEGRATION OF FAITH, LEARNING
AND WORK AT GRAND CANYON UNIVERSITY
G
rand Canyon University is a Christ-centered educational
institution that seeks to promote the common good by
intentionally integrating faith, learning and work. The
university’s initiative to integrate faith stems from its
mission to educate students from a distinctively Christian perspective
and prepare them for careers marked by kindness, service and
integrity. In addition to helping students find their purpose, the
university endeavors to carry out its mission in ways that are marked
by compassion, justice and concern for the common good.
The message of Jesus Christ offers wisdom for the present and hope for
the future. It is good news for individuals and for the communities in
which individuals live and work. Jesus himself taught that Christians
should live as salt and light within the world, which suggests that the
Christian worldview relates as much to the public arena as it does
to the private lives of individuals. As a university, we are convinced
this calling should shape the ways we think and act within academic
disciplines and various career fields.
Our desire to integrate faith, learning and work flows out of an
institutional commitment to cultivate and exemplify the biblical
ideals of glorifying God and loving neighbors as ourselves. By God’s
grace we seek to honor Him in all that we do and to serve others in
ways that are consistent with the loving kindness of Jesus Christ.
These ideals are lofty but they represent appropriate goals and should
serve as standards for Christian educational institutions. For these
reasons, GCU is devoted to the intentional and pervasive integration
of the Christian worldview.
What is the Integration of Faith, Learning and Work?
The integration of faith and learning may be understood as the
scholarly process of joining together knowledge of God and knowledge
of the universe for the sake of developing true, comprehensive and
satisfactory understandings of humans and the world they inhabit. As
a Christian university, we view the integration of faith and learning
as a matter of institutional integrity and a matter of practical wisdom.
At GCU, integration of the Christian worldview also extends to the
workplace as we strive to instill a sense of vocational calling and
purpose in our students, faculty and staff. It is our conviction that
our work within the world matters to God and our neighbors and
must be carried out with integrity and excellence. While few doubt
that it is possible to serve God through ministry and mission work,
we are convinced that God is also honored by faithful service within
“secular” vocations. Integrating faith and work is a practical and
logical extension of faith-learning integration.
The integration of faith and work may be understood as the application
of the Christian worldview within the context of work in ways that
honor God, serve neighbors and contrib.

PDF book on the Family and Raising Children
In the context of the Synod on the Family convoked by Pope Francis, 21 articles on the family and educating children are now being offered as an PDF book for smartphones and tablets. The epub version can be downloaded at http://opusdei.org/en-uk/article/ebook-on-the-family-and-raising-children/
The goal of these articles, which are now being published as an PDF, has simply been to highlight some aspects that seem essential in the make-up of the person and the first human relationship among persons: the family.
Educating is above passing on a way of living. It is giving shape to a person's life, much more than teaching or instructing, although without overlooking the latter.
The articles have deliberately been written in an “open" style to help parents and educators “rethink" their marvelous task of education, which embraces every aspect of the human person.
Many of the reflections found here owe a big debt to the wise and loving “pedagogy" of Saint Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer. His spiritual experience has yielded rich fruit not only for the fields of theology and law, but also for more practical, “sapiential" fields, including education.
This book is available in print from Scepter Publishers. Its title is Family Virtues: A Guide to Effective Parenting.
This is a collection of writings dealing with the Holy Spirit giving some in the body the gift of teaching, and by means of this gift they make the rest better informed of God's revelation in the Bible.
The Portrait of the Christian Pedagogue in Religious Literature and Patristic...AJHSSR Journal
Christianity has provided humans an ideal and a conception of life, synthesized in principles
able to serve as stable benchmarks for moral and intellectual training efforts. The purpose of Christian education
was to help the believer to take care of his soul, to reach that interior perfection, which would allow him the
access to "The Kingdom of Heaven", which allows us to conclude that we already are in front of a new type of
pedagogy. The Fathers of the Christian Church have fulfilled, through the transmitted teachings and by personal
example, for the most of believers, a teaching mission. Their activity marked the beginning of an educational
model oriented towards acquiring basic elements of Christian dogma, forming ideas about the world according
to this dogma, nurturing a certain attitude towards life. Its content was marked by strong ethical load, as the man
fallen in the native sin must be prepared for a happy future life. Therefore, the meaning of education is to
facilitate the acquirement of virtue, as a guarantee of the fulfillment of such an objective. The patristic literature
and philosophy promoted Christian values: prayer, virtue, charity and the love of the close ones, but also
universal human cultural values. For the transmission of these elements a dedicated pedagogue was needed,
whose profile was is clearly outlined in the writings of the Holy Fathers. We tried to capture in this study, the
main qualities of a Christian educator, like these have been presented in the writings of the early centuries

Philosophy
of
Christian
Education
The
time
of
education
in
our
lives
is
much
more
than
learning
facts,
dates,
and
theories.
It
is
where
students
learn
how
to
learn
and
how
to
think.
It
is
the
time
when
young
people
are
taught
not
only
information
but
also
truth.
Students
learn
about
existence
and
creation
in
the
sciences,
about
emotion
and
communication
in
language
arts,
about
mankind
and
human
nature
in
history,
about
order
and
problem
solving
in
math,
and
about
so
much
more.
School
is
also
where
students
learn
about
God,
no
matter
the
setting,
from
home
school
to
public
school.
Education
encompasses
much,
so
it
requires
much
care
and
intentionality
in
its
delivery
and
execution.
It
is
my
desire
and
belief
that
education
should
ensure
that
all
of
the
areas
of
study
and
all
of
the
gained
knowledge
and
wisdom
be
given
fully
in
respect
to
and
in
support
of
truth.
Truth,
contrary
to
today’s
cultural
understanding,
is
not
relative,
but
absolute.
Truth
is
the
foundation
for
both
knowledge
and
wisdom.
Truth
ultimately
finds
its
genesis
in
God.
God
has
revealed
truth
to
man
kind
in
two
ways,
general
and
special
revelation.
We
learn
(in
most
part)
about
God,
his
character,
his
standards,
and
his
plan
for
mankind
and
redemption,
through
scripture
–
his
special
revelation.
The
rest
we
learn
through
general
revelation
and
the
study
of
it
(though
studying
general
revelation
also
teaches
us
a
great
deal
about
God).
Looking
at
education
as
a
pursuit
of
God’s
truth
gives
a
deep
motivation
for
excellence
and
forms
how
both
educators
and
students
approach
education.
It
challenges
both
with
a
higher
motivation
and
call
to
excellence;
all
study
is
the
study
of
God’s
work.
We
learn
to
know
and
understand
his
creation
better,
and
as
a
result
know
Him
better.
In
addition,
working
hard
as
a
way
to
glorify
God
gives
a
deeper
purpose
to
Christian
educators
and
students
alike.
The
work
ethic
at
a
Christian
school
should
be
higher
because
excellence
is
a
standard
held
by
those
who
seek
to
please
God.
When
education
becomes
not
mere
facts
but
truth
it
gives
deeper
understanding
to
each
subject
of
study
as
well.
Science
is
not
just
cells,
elements,
and
pulleys
but
a
chance
to
study
God’s
design.
Students
will
look
at
the
detail
of
the
cell
and
vastness
of
the
universe
and
understand
that
God
is
a
God
of
detail
and
order
as
well
as
unimaginable
awe
and
greatness.
Students
will
learn
to
see
the
nature
of
man
and
how
sin
has
ruled
throughout
history.
Not
only
that
but
they
will
see
the
‘image
of
God’
bearing
qualities
of
man
in
the
selfless
acts
of
war
heroes.
In
English
class
students
will
understand
that
mankind
was
created
to
be
unique
and
expressive
as
they
read
and
write
creative,
emotional,
and
philosophical
prose
and
poetry.
Students
at
Christian
schools
will
learn
the
truth
about
God,
if
that
school
is
doing
its
job,
through
bible
classes.
All
areas
of
study
are
unique,
but
all
teach
about
God
if
they
are
taught
by
educators
who
love
Him.
Christian
educators
mainly
serve
a
two-‐fold
purpose.
First,
like
all
educators,
to
make
sure
that
their
students
understand
the
content
of
their
class.
Next,
Christian
educators
exist
to
make
sure
students
know
how
their
subject
teaches
truth
and
what
it
teaches
about
God
and
about
man.
Beyond
that,
it
is
important
2. that
educators
have
a
mastery
of
their
subject
area.
Teachers
must
be
able
to
ensure
that
their
students
have
been
given
the
information
they
were
intended
to
be
given,
challenged
in
their
understanding
of
it
and
execution
of
that
understanding
where
applicable.
In
addition,
teachers
should
instill
in
each
student
why
it
is
important
that
they
are
learning
what
they
are
learning.
Teachers
serve
several
roles
that
are
different
from
their
educational
purposes.
Educators
set
examples
for
the
students,
in
general
what
it
looks
like
to
live
as
a
follower
of
Christ,
they
are
examples
of
character.
They
also
are
examples
of
what
it
looks
like
to
be
a
Christian
scientist,
or
Christian
mathematician
or
Christian
writer,
and
so
on.
Educators
often
also
serve
as
mentors.
Teachers
should
be
eager
to
help
their
students
grow
not
only
in
knowledge
but
also
as
young
people
and
young
Christians.
Christian
education
exists
to
give
meaning
to
knowledge,
to
teach
students
in
light
of
God
and
who
He
is.
It
exists
to
provide
students
with
examples
of
Godly
men
and
women.
It
exists
to
hold
students
and
educators
to
a
higher
standard
and
a
higher
work
ethic.
It
exists
to
give
knowledge
as
it
was
intended
to
be
given,
as
a
pursuit
of
wisdom
and
understanding
of
God’s
revelation.
