Richard S. Kirkendall is the Henry A. Wallace Professor of History at Iowa State University. A former president of the Agricultural
History Society, his contributions to agricultural history include Social Scientists and Farm Politics in the Age of Roosevelt, first
published in 1966 and republished in 1982, and service as general editor of the Henry A. Wallace Series in Agricultural History and
Rural Studies, published by Iowa State University Press. Currently, he is working on a "documentary profile" of "Uncle Henry"
Wallace and an "intellectual biography" of H. A. Wallace.
A B S T R A C T Written as a contribution to the Social Science Agricultural A g e n d a Project, this essay in historical inter-
pretation assumes that the main contribution that historians can make to the planning process is to describe and explain
how the situation facing the planners came to be. Organized around three concepts--Jeffersonian or democratic agrar-
ianism, the Great A m e r i c a n Agricultural Revolution, and the farm crisis of the 1980s, the main implication of the
paper may be that Jeffersonianism, once so filled with promise, now gets in the way of realistic thinking about farming
and rural life. To implement agrarian values in existing circumstances, we would need to do more than end the crisis.
We would need to move back against the revolution.

The document summarizes the legend of "The Veiled Lady" which is set in Guayaquil, Ecuador in the mid-15th century. The legend tells the story of a beautiful young woman whose family was destroyed by Spanish conquistadors. After her death from a broken heart, she is said to haunt the streets of Guayaquil as a veiled spirit, appearing at midnight to take revenge on those who wronged her. The legend has become an important part of Ecuadorian cultural folklore.

This document summarizes a reading passage titled "A Heritage of Smallness" by Nick Joaquin. The passage discusses how Filipino culture, society, geography, history, enterprise, industry and commerce are characterized by their small scale. It notes how Filipinos engage in very small retail transactions, like selling individual cigarettes or eggs. This lifestyle of working hard in small ways contrasts with workers in Western countries who work fewer hours each day and week but achieve more. The passage examines how Filipinos' heritage has been one of smallness.
English 7-Quarter 3-Module 3-FACTORS THAT MAY INFLUENCE LITERATURE.pptxRusselMartinezPagana
The document discusses how literature can be influenced by culture, history, and environment. It provides the example of Jose Rizal's novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, which were influenced by the cruelty of Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines. It also analyzes the one-act play "Sa Pula, Sa Puti" by Francisco Rodrigo, noting how it comments on social issues like gambling addiction through depicting a character obsessed with cockfighting. The play reflects Filipino culture and the belief that luck can change one's fortunes.

In an education system, it is understood that assessment is only for the students, but on the other hand, the Assessment of teachers is also an important aspect of the education system that ensures teachers are providing high-quality instruction to students. The assessment process can be used to provide feedback and support for professional development, to inform decisions about teacher retention or promotion, or to evaluate teacher effectiveness for accountability purposes.
