2. What Are The Causes Of The Industrial Revolution Dbq
England in the 1800 s was starting to change the world forever. Life was okay in England. They
didn t have very much food for the general public so many people very starving. The English
people needed a better way to do many of their own daily activities because many of them took a
long time to do.The whole reason England was able to prosper and have the Industrial Revolution
was caused by the surplus of food from the Agricultural revolution, abundant natural resources, and
skilled people available for work.
The only way that England would be possible for any of the new inventions and prosperity was
through the Agricultural Revolution. The Agricultural Revolution created a surplus of food. With

All of the skilled workers that had no job had plenty of time to think about their ideas and how to
put them into play. The skilled people came up with many ways to make every day things even
easier. These skilled worker made farming, making clothes, and other goods that are used every day
much easier. They could...make among them... upwards of 48,000 pins in a day (Document 3). This
is showing just how much was achieved with these new ideas and inventions. While alone these
workers could only make about 20 per person. With these new inventions and ideas they produced
and sold much more them they ever could have making them without the machines. Some of the
new machines that revolutionized the way clothing way made was the cotton gin, power loom, and
the flying shuttle. The longest and hardest part about making clothes was separating the seeds from
the raw cotton. The cotton gin made this process go much faster. The power loom was used to
weave threads into cloth automatically(Document 6). The downfall of this machine is that it is
water powerd. This means that it must be used near running water. The flying shuttle was yet
another invention that helped the people at home making clothes. The job of the flying shuttle was
to increase the weaving

3. Why The United States Can Make Any Toys With Greater...
The United States can make certain toys with greater productive efficiency than can China. Yet
we import those toys from China. However the main reason why the U.S. has become so
dependent upon China for goods is that production costs are less in China than the U.S. Reduced
production costs are so attractive to companies the benefits of low cost production are passed on
to customers with lower prices on goods the relationships U.S. companies have with China are
important because of the variety of products available from China. Adam Smith born in 1723 was
a Scottish political economist and philosopher famous by his influential book The Wealth of
Nations. Smith proposed in his book that a nation s wealth should be judged not by this metric but
by the total of its production and commerce. Smith wrote in his book that that productive labor
should be made even more productive by deepening the division of labor. Smith describes the
evolution through feudalism into a stage of society requiring new institutions, such as market
determined rather than guild determined wages and free rather than government constrained
enterprise. If a foreign country can SUPPLY us with a commodity cheaper than we ourselves can
make it, better buy it of them with some part of the produce of our own industry, employed in a
way in which we have some advantage. Relationships with China have proved profitable for some
major U.S. corporations. One of the reasons that the U.S. has become so dependent

Augustus had 3 wifes. There names were Clodia Pulchra (m. 42 BC 40 BC), Scribonia (m. 40 BC
38 BC), and Livia (37 BC 14 AD). He was married to Livia the longest. Augustuswas adopted by

Roman Emperor, controlling the Roman empirefrom 27 BC until he died in 14 AD. Augustus was
considered to be the greatest emperor of all time. Augustus came in power after his uncle Julius
Caesar was assassinated. Augustus gained supreme power by defeating Mark Antony. Mark Antony
had been a close friend and relative to them for a long time. Augustus and Mark Antony s
relationship had began to deteriorate so he then had given his sister to marry Mark Antony in hope
to get their bond back. Then, Augustus thought that Mark Antony had used his sister because he
had divorced her and married Cleopatra. So therefore, their relationship was still messed up and a

The increasing prevalence of restrictions on people experiencing homelessness does little to
effectively confront the increasing homelessness in big U.S. cities. In fact, such restrictions have a
potential domino effect. A given community s efforts to force its homeless residents out, if
successful, will drive them into neighboring communities; these communities may then in turn
pursue similar efforts (26). The criminalization of homelessness is, in effect, a set of policies and
laws that constitute banishment and therefore do more to serve the more affluent and more stable
housed populations in than the people experiencing homelessness that may, quite literally, be left

6. The Buzz Saw Poem Analysis
A young fellow is cutting kindling with a buzz saw in New England. Close to the end of the day,
the kid s sister reports that it is time for supper and, out of exhilaration, the kid unintentionally cuts
his hand with the saw. He asks his sister not to enable the specialist to cut away the hand yet deep
down understands that he has effectively lost a great deal of blood to survive. The boypasses away
while under anesthesia, and everybody backpedals to work. Around 1916 World War I was in
progress and a lot of unprepared children had to take the duties of the adults to help out with the
households. Frost utilizes the strategy of personification to significantly impact in this poem. The
buzz saw, however; a lifeless question is depicted as a discerning being, forcefully growling and
rattling as it does its work. At the point when the sister makes the supper declaration, the saw
indicates that it has its very own psyche by jumping out of the boy s hand in exhilaration. Frost
declines to lay fault for the damage on the boy, who is a young child on the most fundamental
level. In spite of faulting the saw, Frost accuses the grown ups at the scene for not interceding
and advising the kid to throw in the towel before the mischance happened. Had the kid got an
early reason from the workday, he would have refrained from removing his hand and would have
been spared from death. Besides, an insignificant half hour break from his employment would have
enabled the kid to recapture some portion of his adolescence, if just for a minute. Frost s
accentuation on the boy s lack of involvement and blamelessness in this circumstance is especially
noteworthy with regards to the day and age. Subsequent to moving to England with his family, Frost
was compelled to come back to America as a result of the onset of World War I in 1915, an
occasion that would devastate the lives of numerous pure young men. In view of that, this poem can
be perused as an investigation of the world occasions that constrained young men to abandon their
childhoods and at last be decimated by conditions outside their ability to control. Most adolescents
and young people, both young men and young ladies, left primary schools where they got the

1. What is the case about?
This case study is the story of Coca Cola, its history and the report about one of the most

introduction of the new Coke .
The author Susan Fournier, in the case study went on by presenting the history of the Coca Cola
Company: how the company started and how throughout its history it became a brand, a part of
everyone s life both nationally and globally. Anecdotes and little stories were told about how Coca
Cola became a part of the American Culture, it how it changed the way consumers around the

By connecting to their consumers constantly and effectively through excellent advertising, Coca
Cola was able to provide brand loyalty. With diversification within the company s products, the
brand was able to stay relevant throughout time.
Coca Cola meanings came from various sources, most notably the changes in the culture in the
United States in the 1900s. The company quickly adapted to the social and cultural changes like
pop culture; throughout artwork, they were able to reach the heart of America s youth. The
company was able to take advantage of the current events; most notably the world war which
helped the company s being global.
The story of coke and Santa Claus was a strong example of how Coke s meanings made a
connection to Christmas and forever associated itself with America s youth. In the early 1900s,
Santa Claus was represented in various ways to the American audience: the saint was illustrated
in blue, yellow or green; sometimes he was tall or was an elf. Coca Cola hired an artist, Haddon
Sundblom, who, in 1931, created the Coca Cola classic Santa Claus. The caricature presented
everything about the brand: it was bigger than life and joyful. With his illustrations and those
awaited yearly Christmas ads, the artist and Coca Cola shaped the way we, the consumers view
Santa today.

10. Social Action Theories Essay
Social action theories are known as micro theories which take a bottom up approach to studying
society; they look at how individuals within society interact with each other. There are many forms
of social action theories, the main ones being symbolic interactionism, phenomenology and
ethnomethodology. They are all based on the work of Max Weber, a sociologist, who acknowledged
that structural factors can shape our behaviour but individuals do have reasons for their actions. He
used this to explain why people behave in the way in which they do within society. Weber saw four
types of actions which are commonly committed within society; rational, this includes logical plans
which are used to achieve goals, traditional customary behaviour,... Show more content on

Labelling theory has also been used to apply the interactionist theory to society; the theory, like
Mead, emphasises the importance of symbols and situations in which they are used. The main
interactionist concepts are the definition of the situation if we believe in something then it could
affect the way in which we behave. The looking glass self this was created by Cooley who argues
that we see ourselves in a way in which we think others see us. These concepts have been useful in
explaining why people act in certain ways in certain situations; therefore, the labelling theory is
effective in the study of society.

study of society, however, not all of them can be applied to all

to effectively and actively administer protocols and regulations to safeguard the ecological

resolve such issues, they find themselves in a predicament where conflicting goals play a
problematic factor. A diversity of issues poses as threats to the flora and fauna, vegetation and
landscape of parks within Canada. Over the years, the ability to control fire, introduced plant life,

3.Loss of Species / Increase in Fauna
The next issue to deal with is the introductions of species often unfavourably affect the native
fauna and flora. The newly emerged fauna can directly contend with indigenous fauna for
breeding sites and food. A possible harm that is negatively tied with the foreign fauna also
introduced diseases, wide spread of weeds and prey upon native species (Louda 1997). Introduced
species include domestic and feral cats, domestic dogs, foxes, rabbits, blackbirds and the common
starling. This issue is not to be ignored as it is deeply tied into the overall appeal of why tourist
may visit a park.
4.Fire
One issue that should not go unnoticed for park management is the control of fire. The control
of fire both negatively (forest fires) and positively (fire regime) should be placed as a priority as
it endangers both human life and the ecological footprint of the park. Plant communities and their
connected flora and fauna have progressed over thousands of years under a natural fire regime.
The use of fire has key effects on ecosystems (Weber Stock, 1998). The effects of fire management
may be advantageous or undesirable, depending on the distinctiveness of the fire and the nature of
the area burnt. Fires have the possibility to cause soil erosion, alter stream flow

13. Urban Real Estate Economics And Juxtaposes Them With...
THEORETICAL BACKGROUND
This paper discusses and analyses modern theories of urban real estate economics and juxtaposes
them with traditional theories. In earlier times, city life used to revolve around a central business
district (CBD) which was the nerve centre of all economic, social and cultural activity. As a result,
real estate prices reflected the proximity of the site to the CBD and they dropped the further one
went from it. The dichotomy is often expressed through architecture, with high rise apartment
buildings in the city and low rise developments further out. Alonso, 1964; Mills, 1972 and Muth,
1969 mulled on this model of cities and viewed real estate economic data and ran studies through
the lens of a monocentric urban ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is based on the law of diminishing returns that over time, produce from a certain land parcel
will decline in quantity and quality, yielding lower and lower profits, while at the same time,
pressure on the land in the form of population will always rise. As it is the amount paid by the
lessee for the indestructible powers of the land, different parcels with different fertility capacities
will command different rents. As the amount of land is finite, the cost of production will also keep
rising. Applying this theory to urban real estate, a monocentric city would have finite space for
development due to which costs of construction will rise, passing on the burden to the buyer.
Von Thunen, on the other hand, concerned himself with location and transportation costs in
addition to fertility as factors determining price. He attributed differential rents to distances between
places with desirable qualities and the costs of transporting oneself between them. At its most basic,
the theory stands for the hypothesis that without the need for proximity and the price (rent) charged
for it, land would be an almost free good.
For two residential locations to have near identical prices, not only must they be located close to
each other, but they must also provide the same level of utility to residents. This is because the

14. The Government Should Tax Churches
Hypothetically, someone goes to church on Sunday and is asked by their pastor to donate 10% of
their annual income to help feed the hungry and agrees to do so. They later find out that only 3%
of the church s income actually goes to helping the poor and the rest is being used to expand the
church and its resources. They then realize that a portion of the income donated is not going to the
cause they want to support. So where are their offerings and donations actually going? Even though
non profit churches play a crucial social service for an abundance of people, the government should
taxchurches because it is not in the best interest for all of the public when we all have to make up
lost revenue for these establishments, it would decrease group leaders from taking advantage of tax
breaks, and taxing churches could provide increased revenue to help with other important issues. In

Governor Henry Hastings Sibley is a memorable figure in Minnesota history, but one that is laced
with controversy and suspicion. These controversies extend from his early career in fur trading to
his leadership of Minnesota s militia in the Great Sioux Uprising of 1862. The criticism of

complaints to territorial governor Alexander Ramsey about lack of men and supplies, but is simply

A lack of horses meant that Sibley could not reconnoiter the wilderness between St. Peter and Ft.
Ridgeley, which left his army much more vulnerable to surprise attack. Also, Sibley was placed
in charge of the refugees who had escaped to St. Peters and were now looking for shelter and
food. Sibley also feared the much larger Indian population that his army had to face. Sibley
intended to be a thorough and careful commander. His troops would move against the Indians
only when they were fully prepared (122). This slowed Sibley down because he refused to take a
steamboat to Shakopee until he had the supplies he felt necessary to take on the Indians. At Ft.
Ridgely, anger and fear festered after the first attack on the fort as to when reinforcements would
come. This also held true for the town of New Ulm which was scrambling to defend itself under
the leadership of Colonel Flandrau. While these towns were being attacked, Sibley had gathered
an army of 1,340 troops, but still complained about the lack of supplies and training his men had.

16. Polar Ice Caps Cause And Effects
The polar ice caps that we see today have taken centuries to form and they ve been melting from
time to time in order to form lakes and rivers that are essential not only for animal and plant life,
but for humans as well all over the world. Furthermore, as precipitation takes its toll the ice caps
that melt gets replaced by fresh snow that is later on over time converted to ice. Thus it is safe to
say that the melting of the polar ice caps is a normal occurrence, however it becomes a problem
when the ice caps melt at a fast rate and turning into water faster and in more quantity than the
fresh snow replacing it. This is the current situation of most of today s polar ice caps all over the
world. As they reduce in size, stability, and strength they eventually break off and melt away
thereby increasing sea levels among other things. The major consequences of melting polar ice
caps can be said in the following order below: We are currently experiencing warmer
temperatures all over the world today as temperatures have gone high, and global warming is
becoming more alarming day by day. This rise in temperature helps polar ice caps melt faster
than it should be. Ice caps have even disappeared in certain parts of the world due to this. The
melting of the polar ice caps increases global warming because ice glaciers deflects or bounces
off about 80% heat from the sun and retain or absorb about 20% of it. However, when sunlight

asked of the profession that will send them searching for relevant analogies and precedents.
Subscriptions to legal periodicals are expensive. Complete collections are extremely costly. Yet a
few well planted contemporary copies of the general Australian legal review, surveying the scene (as
the Australian Law Journal does) could bear fruit. It might produce reciprocation. Both India and
Australia still look to England for legal material. Yet, in all truth, the constitutional arrangements of
Australia are much closer to those of India than are those of England. 4. Judicial training:
Consideration might be given to funding the participation of a newly appointed Indian judge or
judges in the orientations and training courses given for Australian judges. Judicial officers from
New Zealand and Papua New Guinea take part in these courses. It could be mutually beneficial to
have participation by new Indian judges. It would help stimulate the thinking of all. It would also
create friendships which would endure and expand. 5. Professional reciprocity: As India s economic
advancement continues, its importance in the global and regional economies will become more
obvious. Similarly, many Australian businesses are now looking for opportunities in the region.

Professor Stephen Zepf is the associate chairman of Astronomy stationed at Michigan State
University. The Astronomy Professor spoke on the sixteenth of November in the Abrams
Planetarium. The topic he discussed is the SOAR Telescope and our collegiate association with the
Chilean Observatory.
This was a talk like no other in its set up. It is not a stage in an auditorium or lecture hall. The
audience seats could have spanned in the front to where the speaker ends up interacting with the
front seats more or circles around where one has to pace around. Professor Zepf, having taught at

Because Chilean mountains are based on experiences, generally, the presentation was in the
style of trip photos. Uniquely it was not 2 D flat photos, but 3 D panorama that panned the dome
of the Planetarium. The Solar Eclipse observation was prominent, but I would have ended my
presentation with that after every question were answered. Personally, it is slightly odd to expect
the subject to be about SOAR, then head to a different topic on the second slide. Appropriately, it
would be best to start with a gripping quote based on the founder of SOAR or a group photo of
the team that Professor Zepf has observed with. What I could apply for myself is a humourous
banter or quotes on magnetohydrodynamics. Immersively, with descriptions of the era where instant
visual communication was non existent, we followed Zepf s steps of heading to the mountain top
from what airlines were used and how long it took. It can make one forget about the station set in
the Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building to communicate with SOAR and take upon
themselves to take a trip to Chile. Definitely, I would be honoured to visit

Contrasting the Natural and Mechanical Worlds in Hathaway s Oh, Oh
The French poet and essayist Louis Aragon, in his Paris Peasant, wrote that light is meaningful
only in relation to darkness, and truth presupposes error we only exist in terms of this conflict, in
the zone where black and white clash (Aragon 18). Aragon noted that the world is full of contrasts,
and it is through those contrasts that we live and understand who we are and why we are here.
Without an understanding of light, Aragon argues, we cannot understand what darkness really is.
Or, without an awareness as to the concept of truth, one cannot possibly error, for the act cannot be
defined. In William Hathaway s poem Oh, Oh, the poet uses language, word ... Show more content

The dominant contrast in Oh, Oh is created by the comforting versus harsh descriptions of the
natural versus the mechanical. This contrast is created not only through images, but also through a
careful collaboration of word choices selected by Hathaway. Perhaps the most easily recognizable of
these is found in the middle of the poems only stanza. After the author s persona and his girl have
walked through the country, they encounter the invasion of a train. But, the action of the intrusion is
not what is important here; rather, the language that is used to describe both situations is what must
be examined.
For example, in the first half of the poem, which for the most part describes the country, the
language is filled with beautiful sentences filled with adjective after adjective after adjective. A
simple encounter with cows in a field becomes moo cows chomping daisies, our own / sweet
saliva green with grass stems (2 3). But, on the entrance of the locomotive, the language changes.
The complex, drawn out, three adjective statement maple dappled summer sunlight is replaced by
a sterile and simple lit headlight (8). From that point forward, the long sentences disappear. Only
when the couple experiences the mechanical real world, do they lose the power of language to
describe what they see.
Another technique that Hathaway uses extensively to demonstrate the difference

23. An Analysis Of Pieces D Identites, And Aesthetics Of...
African cinema has certain aesthetics and politics that differ from cinema within the United
States. The politics and aesthetics of African film tends to reference themes of liberation, self
identity and allegories referring to colonialism. Three films that were viewed in class this year
that display each of these politics are Lumumba, Pieces D Identites, and Afrique, Je Te Plumerai.
The first politic and aesthetic African films tend to reference the most is liberation. A good
example of a film that shows this politic is the film Lumumba directed by Raoul Peck. This film
was released in 2001 and is about the life of the former prime minister of the Democratic Republic
of the Congo, Patrice Lumumba. The film examines the liberation of the... Show more content on

A good example of a film viewed during this semester with this aesthetic is Afrique, Je Te
Plumerai. This film was released in 1992 and directed by Jean Marie Teno. This film is about the
history of the west African country of Cameroon. This film starts with the first contact the area
which would become Cameroon had with European missionaries, to German and French
colonialism, and finally to present day and how the colonialism affected the people of Cameroon.
This uses allegories for colonialism through showing how the literature taught in schools and most
of the books in the libraries are by White authors and that they have very little literature by Black
authors taught in schools or displayed in libraries. Also the name of the film Afrique, Je Te
Plumerai means Africa, I Pluck You . This is an allegory of how colonialism has plucked all of the
Cameroonian history from the people and has replaced it with European history. This aesthetic
would never be used in a Hollywood film due to the fact that the United States is a country that
goes around attacking and colonizing other countries for their natural resources and to build an
empire. Hollywood actually makes films with the complete opposite of this aesthetic where the
film its film is about how invading other countries and killing people made U.S. soldiers sad. All
in all African films have completely different politics and aesthetics than films made in the U.S.
The film Lumumba shows the politics of liberation. The film Pieces D Identities shows the
aesthetics of self identity. The film Afrique, Je Te Plumerai shows the aesthetics of allegories of
colonialism. In conclusion Hollywood would not dare to touch the politics nor aesthetics of these
films due to Hollywood s prejudices and other

Throughout this semester we have analyzed many tales revolving around different heroes and
their accomplishments. Our first hero was Ree Dolly in an independent film called Winter s
Bone, she had to find her father in order to keep the land her family lived on. The next hero was
Chris McCandles from Into the Wild who was sick of living within the boundaries of normal life
and wanted to go somewhere where he could truly live. Then, we had Juror #8 from 12 Angry
Men who is put up to the task of persuading a jury to save a boy s life. Lastly, we have
Abdulrahman Zeitoun from Zeitoun who has to overcome the challenges of his ethnic background
to be free.

The other three men have responsibilities and motivations but nothing so burdening or meaningful
as Ree has. McCandles is out surviving in the wilderness by his own choice, meaning this wasn t
an unexpected turn in his life and he s alone so he has no one to worry about besides himself. He
is doing this just for himself, the only motivations he has are selfish.
Zeitoun s life is in danger and he got put in prison without any sort of warning but he s also alone;
he is concerned with getting himself out. He want to do this so he can see his family again but this
is another selfish motivation. His family will be safe with or without him, he won t be doing
them any greater good by seeing him. Juror 8 is trying to save the accused s life which is no
small feat, but he won t lose anything if he doesn t succeed; he is also trying to save just one
life. His motivations are never made crystal clear. He does state though that he doesn t think that
the boy should die unless there is not a shred of doubt that the boy could be innocent (Rose). A
fair justice system is a noble goal but in reality, it s not realistic, making his goal impractical. Ree
Dolly had to give the most for her cause. She faced her neighbors who wanted nothing to do with
her or her dad. She was beaten for asking questions that she had to ask. Thorton threatened to take
her life if she kept up with her pursuit of her father (Granik). But she still carried on despite these

Because of this injury, Jake cannot be with the woman he loves and this plot line serves as a
catalyst for the larger and far more important theme about the American Dream and chasing

This is suggested from the Nancy and Harvey Heffner experience. When the couple s son became
sick hotel staff brought him tea at all hours of night. This implies that all departments (restaurant,

service.
The feedback is very important part in the transformational process as it allows continues
improvement to be made after receiving customers feedbacks. This therefore will inevitably
minimise any complaints in the future. The examples of collecting feedback from the customers
can be by surveys of departing guests, comment cards, telephone surveys, oral feedback between the

Exploring the Cost of Hydraulic Fracturing in Colorado: What are the potential effects of the Tres
Rio 2016 Oil and Gas Lease/Sale on Montezuma County s public health, ecological communities,
and economic stability?
Introduction
Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is a technique often administered by oil and gas companies in
order to create fissures within subsurface shale formations. After a site is established, the initial
step entails breaking through the soil and stone via a bit placed at the end of a drill. As the drill
moves through the rock layers, it utilizes air pressure to drive fragmented rocks to the surface. The
drill ceases immediately after it comes into contact with the first indication of fresh water. Once the
drill is removed, cement is incorporated into the drilled hole in an effort to prevent contamination
of the water source and as a safety measure.
Secondary steps require a perforated gun producing high magnitude electrical currents to be
introduced down the wellbore (oil field terminology pertaining to a hole generated from oil/gas
exploration), helping drive holes into the cement and ultimately enabling a channel for gas flow.
The gun is then removed. Under high pressure, the drill pumps a solution of water, sand, and
chemicals into the established site, allowing the gas (methane) to be released and stored.
Finally, a pipeline constructed from the storage space to the consumer market supplies the gas as
an energy source. Radioactive waste water also

Between 1788 and 1868, as a punishment for crime, around 160 000 British and Irish convicts were
transported to the Australian colonies. A decision was made to transport criminals to Australia in
order for them to work. The decision was made against those who committed crimes. This was a

This lead to the decision to transport convicts to Australia to work against the wishes of the
criminals.
Working conditions in Australia for most convicts were brutal. Although convicts were transported
to Australia for a bad reason, some were very successful. Convicts who had skills such as
carpentry, were put to use but building the new town and others that were growing around it.
Unfortunately, for others, convict life was a living hell. Not every convict had special skills and
behaved him or herself. For those who were stubborn, there was a serious consequence.
Those judged to be unmanageable or defiant might be sent to even more isolates places of
secondary punishment. The most notorious of these were on Norfolk Island and at Port Arthur in
Van Diemen s Land (Tasmania). Brutal physical punishment, floggings and beatings were common
and convicts were worked beyond the point of exhaustion. Port Arthur prison was established as a
penal settlement in 1833. Here, psychological cruelty took precedence over physical brutality.
Convicts spent long periods in isolation, without any physical contact with the outside world. Over

46. Research Paper On Ad Hominem Fallacy
Ad Hominem
Ad Hominem comes from latin and means against the man , is a common fallacy that it is used to
attack the person rather than their argument. It is a lazy and easy way to put down your opponent
with poor reasoning and bad logic. It plays with people s emotion. The attack can be true, but has
no relevance to the claims of the argument and can bias the audience. Ad Hominem fallacies are
often used in politics, media and court.
One famous Ad Hominem fallacy was when President Clinton s infidelity and lies were used to
attack decisions he made as President. Although having been unfaithful and lying about it, it did
not necessarily impact on his work as President. In this case his private life had no bearing on his
professional activities. Ad Hominem abusive fallacy was used to point out character flaws or
actions (it can even involve insults) in order to discredit his status and work. Also perpetrators
appeal to Ad Hominem abusive fallacy to exonerate themselves of their crimes. For instance,
during a recent interview, one of the six perpetrators from the 2012 Delhi gang rape case, blamed
his victim s demeanour being immoral and provocative. Therefore, he claimed that he ... Show more

A fallacy is committed when the person is not qualified or is not recognised to be a legitimate
authority on the specific subject of the argument. For instance, in commercial advertisements,
celebrities who promote products for their qualities and effectiveness are not qualified in the field
of the specific product (eg. beauty products, dietary medication, cars). The facts could be true, but
as the claim is supported on the basis that an unqualified authority or a non expert body said so, it
makes the argument difficult to believe. However the Appeal to Authority fallacy is quite common
as people have a tendency to believe in authority and experts, which can make a claim

47. The Price Of Persecution By Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye
The Price of Persecution
The plight of the weak against the powerful is one of the oldest and compelling stories that can
be told, and it has always been the story of race in the United States. Toni Morrison s The Bluest
Eye is a candid look into the lives of African Americans in the early 1940 s, focusing on the
drama surrounding the coming of age of young girls. The debilitating effects of racism, sexism,
and classism on children and adults of different social statuses are explored through the stories of a
number of families. By illustrating a society in which each class elevates itself by oppressing those
below them, Morrison demonstrates how the cyclical nature of oppression can cripple a community
and family for generations. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her son, forbidden from befriending children deemed too black and uncultured, initially longed
for a connection with the boys whose hardness... and wild blackness (87) he admires. However, he
eventually internalizes the message that the shade of his skin renders him superior to his peers and
he decides to avoid contact with them. Geraldine s obsession with pedantic distinctions between
different groups of black residents in Lorain leads her son and the whole next generation to
preserve the biases of their parents. The maltreatment practiced by those of mixed race has a real
impact on those they perceive as inferior. Maureen Peal is a wealthy mixed race girl that moves
to Pecola s school. She enters Pecola s narrative by holding some boys intent on harrassing
Pecola at bay and starts a friendly conversation with her. Soon after, she turns on Pecola and
feeling her image being threatened yells I am cute! And you ugly! Black and ugly black e mos.
I am cute! (73). Pecola, who had idolized Maureen for her cute looks and popularity, is
devastated. The repetition in Maureen s declaration mirrors the constancy of society s message
to young black girls like Pecola: she is not valuable, and it is because of her race. Maureen, as a
person of mixed race, is hardly the model most white children would aspire to. She possesses only
an increment of superiority over girls like Pecola, but that slight advantage allows her to show
disdain to the lesser

48. How Did The Anasazi Disappear
Anasazi Mystery The Anasazi were an ancient Indian tribe who date back to about 200 A.D. and
they were believed to be related to the Pueblo Indians. This tribe inhabited southwest Colorado,
southern Utah, northern New Mexico and Arizona until around 1300 A.D. After this time
however, the Anasazi began to disappear. There are many theories as to why the tribes left and
disappeared. Some claim that it is due to changes in climate that caused drought and drove
people away. Others believe that they may have been forced out by other tribes. Cannibalism is
yet another speculation. Climate changes could have played a large part in all of these theories
and could explain the mystery of the disappearance of the Anasazi. Anasazi s were first known to
hunt and gather food. The people did this by wandering in search of food that grew in that
particular season. Corn and squash were also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the populations of the tribe grew larger, the food supply was growing shorter. In an area not
far from the Mesa Verde is a place called Cowboy Wash which caused Archeologists to discover
another theory of what might have happened to the Anasazi people. Over thirty other sites in
different areas have uncovered some of the same results. Several piles of human bones have
been found and led experts to the conclusion that cannibalism might have played a significant
role in the mystery of the Anasazi. Broken bones were found on the floors of the Anasazi pit
dwellings and among the piles were shoulder blades, skulls, teeth and many other types of bones.
The way these bones were found did not indicate a burial. In fact, the bones showed signs of
cannibalism due to the evidence of scrapes, burns and discoloration on the bone where flesh had
been left on the bone. Researchers also found indications that intimidation was used to terrorize
foreigners who were trying to gain control of the source of food

For one thing, I realized that this poem has no setting, and that there isn t a particular event.
Then, I examined the figurative language of the song, and if there are any patterns. The
Monster is mostly made up of figurative language, making it quite thought provoking. I noticed
that it all refers back to his fame and his struggles. Basically, all of the figurative language is
about the same topic. I also noticed that there are two main types that the author uses: idioms
/expressions and similes. ...For wanting my cake I eat it too, and wanting it both ways is an
example of an idiom used in the song. Going cuckoo and cooky as Kool Keith and Ironic cause I
think I m getting so huge I need a shrink are only two of the many similes in The Monster.
Thirdly in my deep analysis of this song, I determined the structure of this poem. I came to
conclusions that every stanza has sixteen (16) line plus a (1) line leading into the chorus. So every
stanza includes seventeen (17) lines. In addition, I determined that there is a lot of rhyming, but
there seems to be no

situations in unusual ways. In the Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech, by Elie Wiesel and The Diary of

necessary to settle similar disputes. Constructive measures like these are the stepping stones that
shape the outlook on certain circumstances. If someone is inclined to act upon conflict, it may not

The Can Being Happy Change Your Personality article states, People with different personality
traits tend to experience different degrees of subjective well being . . .individuals who are more
extraverted, agreeable, conscientious, and emotionally stable tend to experience greater
satisfaction with life, more frequent positive affect, and less frequent negative affect
(Christopher). The prior events to a time of conflict can affect the way an individual reacts. Such
prior events include, mood, emotion, and behavior. What all of these three traits relate to is,
personality. Someone with a high level of personality or well being find more hope during
conflict then others. The reason why is because more jubilation and triumph is being sustained
by the person that they look at the positive side preferably more than the negative. The Diary of a
Young Girl states, I don t think I ll ever feel at home in this house, but that doesn t mean I hate it.
It s more like being on vacation in some strange pension. Kind of an odd way to look at life in
hiding, but that s how things are (Frank). Anne has a cheerful personality that no one can miss.

51. Example Of Social Identity Theory
Few people are going to openly admit to being prejudice against people of other races, gender,
and religions. However that doesn t stop many of us from having unintentional racist thoughts. In
1979, Henri Tajfel, a social psychologist, proposed that the groups which people belonged to are
an important source of pride and self esteem. Groups give us a sense of social identity: a sense of
belonging to the social world. This ideal of categorizing and subconsciously labeling ourselves
is better known as Social Identity Theory . Tajfel continues by saying In order to increase our
self image we enhance the status of the group to which we belong. For example, England is the
best country in the world! We can also increase our self image by discriminating and holding
prejudice views against the out group (the group we don t belong to). For example, the
Americans, French etc. are a bunch of losers! Therefore, we divided the world into them and us
based through a process of social categorization (i.e. we put people into social groups). This is
known as in group (us) and out group (them). Social identity theory states that the in group will
discriminate against the out group to enhance their self image. We all unintentionally discriminate
against others that are in the out group , and by doing this we are excluding ourselves from
certain religions, cultures, races, and even genders. This ideal of labeling ourselves can be traced
back to childhood and factors such as where we

52. Comparison Of The Prince And The Prince
Niccolo Machiavelli is an Italian diplomat who wrote in Italy s Florentine Republic for fourteen
years during the Medici Family s ruling. Established father of modern political theory he is most
well known for his book The Prince a hand book for monarchs on how to rule. However, that is not
is only work. Machiavelli also wrote The Discourses a novel based on republicand how to properly
govern using it. Many read The Princeand The Discourses and claim them to be direct
contradictories of each other but upon further analysis it can be said that they actually bare
more consistencies. In The Prince and Discourses Machiavelli goes over the proper method of
ruling for both a monarchy and a republic, also examining the nature of man. The purpose of
each work is not to discredit or prove better than the other but merely examples of how to rule
under whichever form of government is chosen. Looking closely as the principles set forth by
Machiavelli in these works one will see that they have a large number of parallels. In both of his
works The Prince and The Discourses Machiavelli discusses the ways to rule both as a monarchy
and as a republic. In The Discourses Machiavelli describes a good republic as being a government
where The Prince, Nobility, and The People fall under the same constitution in a form of checks
and balances, which refers to counterbalancing influences by which a system is regulated, ensuring
the political power is not too largely
