Analysis Of Toni Morrison s Sula
Two young girls, coalescing on a grass laden field while lying on their stomachs, dig a hole in
unspoken harmony. A picture of youth and innocence, this scene depicts an innocuous moment
which the two girls share as a result of their juvenescence or does it? In Toni Morrison s Sula,
this scene, among others, appears at first to be both irrelevant to the novel s underlying theme and
out of place with regard to the rest of the plot. Yet, when analyzed further, the literary devices that
Morrison uses in these scenes bring readers to a vastly different conclusion. These scenes serve as
windows into the mind of Morrison and even into the larger themes present in the text. So, perhaps
two girls sharing a seemingly casual experience is not as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like the vasculature of plants shrouded by bark, innocence is shrouded and further internalized as
social influence compiles. Thus, Morrison effectively illustrates both the presence of innocence
and its inherent definition via careful diction in this scene. Additionally, the scene is illuminating
because of the timing in which Morrison introduces the idea of renewed innocence. She chooses
to place it directly before one of the most gruesome and chilling events of the novel: the death of
Chicken Little. Now, readers could wonder if she is simply juxtaposing two starkly contrasted
scenarios for literary effect. But even though the timing could be interpreted solely to as a method
of juxtaposition, an ulterior motive becomes apparent when readers inquire why the girls allow
Chicken Little to die after illuminating their innocent cores, not before. If the girls had killed
Chicken Little before stripping away the bark from the twig, the scene could be perceived as a
symbol of internal cleansing and a means of psychologically stripping themselves of guilt. But the
scene precedes his drowning, possibly indicating that their ambivalence was catalyzed by their
exposed, innocent essence. Morrison portrays such a vastly contradictory portrayal of popularized
innocence in an attempt to demonstrate how innocence may not be defined as innocuously as
society defines it. However, before stating the another significant element

Compare Alvin Toffler
Sociocultural evolution is the idea that as humans evolve biologically we also evolve socially. This
evolution involves technology, religion, and culture. Many theories have arisen about how
sociocultural evolution works and how important it is to humankind. Three well known theories
have come from Gerhard Lenski, Leslie White, and Alvin Toffler. Their theories may be very
different, but they also share some similarities. Looking at these differences and similarities
between these three theories will give greater insight to the importance of sociocultural evolution.
Understanding this evolution can allow us to better understand where we are going as people and
how different societies may be at separate places in the sociocultural progression.... Show more

Alvin Toffler quoted, To survive, to avert what we have termed future shock, the individual must
become infinitely more adaptable and capable than ever before . Everyone must search out totally
new ways to anchor ourselves, for all the old roots religion, nation, community, family, or profession
are now shaking under the hurricane impact of the accelerative thrust. It is no longer resources that
limit decisions; it is the decision that makes the resources. Alvin Toffler is best known for the idea
of future shock. He defined future shock as one s personal view that there is too much change in
too short a period of time. Alvin Toffler identified three stages in the development of society:
agrarian, industrial, and postindustrial. The first stage is when humans invented agriculture. The
second stage is when England brought the inventions of machine tools and the steam engine during
the Industrial Revolution. The last stage began during the second half of the 20th century, while
dealing with inventions of mechanical industry, robotics, and the computer (Fretwell 2015). Alvin
Toffler, therefore, knows that the assessment of innovation is outstanding and moves at a faster
pace than people see. Innovation has brought out a great deal of information that has made, what is
named, as information over load. Alvin Toffler illustrated that development today is pushing
progressively when wandered from the limit of the world to remain mindful of these

Price Elasticity of Demand and Supply
Q. Discuss how a supplier of a product that is currently fashionable might use both of these concepts
in making price and output decisions.
Price Elasticity of Demand
The price elasticity of demand measures the sensitivity of the quantity demanded to price. The
price elasticity of demand is the percentage change in quantity demanded brought by a 1 percent
change in price. The value of price elasticity of demand for a normal good must always be negative,
reflecting the fact that demand curves slope downward because of the inverse relationship of price
and quantity.
The price elasticity of demand can be an extremely useful piece of information for business firms,
nonprofit institutions, and other organizations that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The price elasticity of supply tells us the percentage change in quantity supplied for each percent
change in price. The value of price elasticity of supply for a normal good must always be positive,
reflecting the fact that supply curves slope upward because of the positive relationship of price and
quantity.
Similarly as price elasticity of demand, price elasticity of supply can be also an extremely useful
piece of information for business firms in deciding how much to produce their products. To see
why a business might care about the price elasticity of supply, let s consider how an increase in
price might affect a business s total revenue. Since price and quantity have a positive
relationship in price elasticity of supply, a higher price will generally mean producing at a
higher quantity, so the total revenue will increase. Economists have classified the possible
range of values for price elasticity of supply as Inelastic Supply, Unitary Elastic Supply, and
Elastic Supply . In the process of helping a supplier of a product that is currently fashionable to
decide output decision, we must first identify the classification that the product is in right now as
being fashionable . As mentioned earlier, the price elasticity of supply is used to see how
sensitive the supply of a good is to a price change. The higher the price elasticity, the more
sensitive producers and sellers are to price changes. A very high price elasticity suggests

I am going to study three love poems. The first one is called First Love by John Clare
How does poet s writing before 1900 use language to write about different types of love? Consider
three love poems, two of which must be by the same poet.
In this piece of coursework I am going to study three love poems. The first one is called First Love
by John Clare; this poem is a very simple, sweet poem about a mans first love of his life. The
second is called My Last Duchess by Robert Browning; this poem is about the
Duke telling his servant about his last wife, this poem is a poem about obsessive love. The third
poem is called Porphyria s Lover also by Robert Browning; this poem is about a man being
suspicious enough to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whereas the vocabulary in My Last Duchess is very obsessive, vocabulary in Porphyria s Lover is
possessive and also Porphyria s lover is very suspicious of Porphyria. Lake whipped up by the wind
,
Cold room , and Sullen wind are all examples/indications of the menacing love Porphyria s lover
has for Porphyria. Porphyria enters the room and looks like she has come in from a storm,
which she has, but Porphyria s lover makes it sound different. Her cloak is dripping . Porphyria s
lover once referred to Porphyria as mine, mine , this shows his obsession with Porphyria and
shows that he only feels happy when Porphyria is all his.
When her own hair murders Porphyria, Porphyria s lover says he has her love all to himself at last.
He doesn t feel guilty about what he had done God has not said a word .
Secondly, I am going to investigate the sentence structure of all three of the poems.
Looking at the sentence structure of First Love , the sentences are very short and simple, I never
saw, so sweet a face, as that I stood before but there are aw few complex sentences within the
poem They spoke as chords do from the string and blood burnt round my heart .
Rhetorical questions are also asked because he wants to find out a lot more about love, as it is his
first time in being in love. Are flowers the winters choice? Is loves bed always snow? are only a
few examples of rhetorical questions that are in the poem.

Night By Elie Wiesel
Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change
anything. George Bernard Shaw. George Shaw s famous quote describes that to achieve, you
must change yourself. On May 1944, Elie Wiesel and his family were forced out from his home
in Sighet, Romania to live in Auschwitz, Germany. He and his two older sisters survived the
holocaust, Elie then wrote his experience in 1960. During the span of the book, Night by Elie
Wiesel, the novel demonstrates that traumatic events can change a person drastically. In the
beginning, Elie lived with his family in Germany, his mother, his father, and his three siblings.
The Germans forced the Jews to hand over their valuables, live in ghettos and finally moving
them to concentration camps, including Elie s family. He was disunited from his mother and
three siblings, but managed to stay with his father. At first when he entered the camp he was
pessimistic and discouraged when he saw the townspeople crying including his father. After, Elie
then learned to take care of himself and his father during tragic events, he stuck to his ambitions
and values which led him to go through many obstacles , despite the limitations, and be free of
the camp of Auschwitz. As he set out Eliezer was an immature and carefree 15 year old who
developed into a responsible young adult. Before Ellie was taken away from Sighet to Auschwitz,
he was an inquisitive adolescent interested in biblical studies. As stated One

Writing Assignment #1 Civility
When once the forms of civility are violated, there remains little hope of return to kindness or
decency (Johnson csmonitor.com). Samuel Johnson, English writer and essayist, popular in the
19th century, sums up the reality of modern American politics in such a simple sentence. However,
the simple warning, unheeded, has surely stymied and gridlocked American government to such an
extent, that even the most diehard believers in democracy are finding the current political
environment to be permanently toxic and therefore, hopelessly ineffective. When did it all go
wrong? One of the best examples of two political rivals that warred fiercely from 9 5, but liked
and respected one another after hours, comes in the friendship of President Ronald Reagan and
House Speaker Tip O Neill. Reagan and O Neill disagreed on nearly everything that a politician can
include in a platform. Yet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In times when the U.S. confronts serious threats extremist rhetoric sometimes seems appropriate
and necessary. One could argue that speeches advocating the end of slavery or the fight against
modern terrorists was justified. However, those well meaning words can plant thoughts of
violence in the minds of the easily persuaded to commit violence to gain results (Davis
upenn.edu). Rhetoric used by political leaders is sometimes uncivil because politicians do not
consider the consequences of what they say or do before they execute their plans. With this being
said, it would be extremely difficult to remedy the incivility of political discourse without
damaging the right of free speech granted by the first amendment; however, President Obama s
speech in Tucson, Arizona offers sound advice for political leaders, speechmakers, and those who

Analysis Of The Judgement Of Thamus By Neil Postman
Neil Postman, a firm protester against technology, begins his argument in The Judgement of
Thamus with a parable about a king rejecting an inventor who incorporates writing into their
society; the king, Thamus, is steadfast in his belief that writing s future burdens will outweigh its
immediate success. Postman argues that technological discoveries change the way we think,
manipulating our culture and our understanding of the world. He states that the primary difference
between computers and humans is the ability to self learn but what happens when the human race
conquers that barrier with technology? Artificial Intelligence is often referred to as the field I
would most like to be in by researchers in other sciences (semanticscholar.org). It is not only
prominent in subfields like reasoning and logic, but also in precise tasks like playing chess,
proving theorems, and diagnosing diseases. The short term benefits of Artificial Intelligence
depend on who controls it, while the long term benefits of Artificial Intelligence depend on if we
can control it at all. When considering synthetic intelligence, I believe our outlook must be
cautiously positive. As Postman suggests, the development of technology has significant
advantages and disadvantages. Futurists believe AI will redefine the human world by enabling
software s ability to self program and by minimizing the time it takes to solve a challenge.
However, the safety issues and current jobs that will be replaced by

Money Laundering Organized Crime
There are many organized crimes happening in the world. And we should wonder how they earn
money to commit those crimes. One of the biggest money source for organized crime is money
laundering. Money laundering is disguising the origin of the money and making it look like a
wealth traded legitimately. According to UNODC report in 2009, criminal proceeds amounted
about USD 1.6 trillion dollar being laundered. To reduce organized crimes, it is important to
eliminate money launderingsince it is their main source of money. DPRK, has been accused for
money laundering to pay for their weapons. Additionally, they have been involved in money

world should be aware of the money laundering. Actually, many people around the world are not
knowledgeable about corruption happening in the world related to money. Nations should notice
the danger and severity of financing terrorism to prevent people from getting damaged. Secondly,
since money laundering cannot be prohibited by a small power, this delegate thinks that it is
necessary to combine countries investigative agencies. When many countries cooperate together,
she certainly believes that it is possible for nations to eliminate money laundering rate. The last
solution this delegate suggests is that each country have to reinforce the regulation of the money
irregularity. Government should check if the great amount of money has been traded. If it has taken
place, this delegate thinks that nation should research about the route the money has come from. To
do this, she thinks that government should take more care about money that are being traded
among people. This delegate believes that that when many nations work together to eliminate the
money laundering, it will lead to the decreased rate of organized crimes taking place all around the
world. Also there will be a brighter future coming up for the

Essay on Deceptive Females of Homer s Odyssey
The Deceptive Females of Homer s Odyssey
Homer s Odyssey is probably the most famous and well known epic of all time. This tale relates the
adventures of the archetypal hero, Odysseus. Odysseus long journey home takes him to many
different places where he encounters many different monsters and creatures, but there are certain
recurrent elements throughout. The most common themes in the Odyssey are forgetfulness,
willingness to risk pain for pleasure, and sexual temptation.
When comparing the Sirens episode with Odysseus other adventures, one can observe an
emergence and repetition of these themes. The most obvious comparison that can be drawn
between the Sirens episode and most other adventures is the theme of ... Show more content on

There are not only thematic similarities but also plot repetitions between the Sirens and Lotus
eaters episodes. Yet, one main difference is evident. Here Odysseus does not receive advice from
anyone, rather he passes the challenge through wit and luck. Though Odysseus managed to avoid
being tied into the web of the Sirens and the Lotus eaters, he loses much time with both Calypso
and Circe. Circe also draws men in with her songs, but it is her herbs, not the voice, that causes
forgetfulness and turns them into beasts. Singing with a sweet voice...into the mixture malignant

this time from Hermes, that allows Odysseus to save his men. I will tell you all the malevolent
guiles of Circe (10.289) The recurrence of helpful stranger, like Circe with the Sirens, is a
common plot theme throughout Odyssey. Though he manages to avoid becoming swine, still he
succumbs to Circe s charms and resides on the island for a year. It is only the reminders of his men
that bring to his mind the homecoming. It is time to think about our own country. (10.472) Circe is

able to significantly improve profits by concentrating on individual account management which
SBP is capable of by identifying service costs and calculate the contribution for each account and
then rank the accounts according to profitable ones. TFC should charge its customers based on
their service usage by using cost plus pricing. The customers would be charged based on the cost

Historical And Legal Issues Of Developmental Disabilities...
This chapter on Historical and Legal Issues in Developmental Disabilities by James R. Thompson
and Michael L. Wehmeyer talked about how people perceived people with intellectual and
developmental disabilities over the past few centuries. Intellectual and developmental disabilities
have been around for a while and many people have been scrutinized for having disabilities. Early
on people with disabilities were treated unfairly or mistreated by other community members. It was
not until the late 19th, 20th, and 21st century where people started to help people with disabilities
to attempt making a difference. There were many key themes throughout the chapter that I found
very interesting, including the way people with disabilities were treated in the early years. People
with disabilities were segregated from the rest of the community due to them being different in the
middle agesto the 18th century. It came to my attention that people did not have respect for
people with disabilities. No one cared to get to know them or help them. It was normal for people
to call people with disabilities names, or refer to them as idiots . Countless numbers of people with
disabilities or who had mental illnesses were institutionalized. Even though there was many
neglectful people in the world, there was also a number of people who started to address the
situation and make a difference. Although civilians still needed to work on their terminology
referring to people with disabilities.

Discouraging High Testosterone Levels
In today s society, high testosterone levels are discouraged. In a world where we work in
cubicles, where violence gets you sent to prison, and where we are required to swallow our pride,
to do what we are told. Considering this, you could be led to believe that men are being poisoned
intentionally. A conspiracy, that guarantees we conform to their standards, throughout our lives.
Okay, before you dismiss me as a conspiracy theorist, take note that the Soviets were the first to add
fluoride to the drinking water, in prisons. They wanted to decrease testosterone levels, and to make
prisoners submissive. Considering testosterone is the driving force behind the courage of men, and
I seriously doubt the warden had any concern with dental health.
Now that you are ready to commit to a lifestyle that allows for the highest possible testosterone
levels, what do you do?

Detoxifying sounds a lot worse than it really is. There are no enemas, or expensive juicer diets.

Zeolite is formed when volcanic ash reacts with the surrounding rocks. This mineral has a regular,

Artificial Neural Networks And Predictive Policing
Sir, please come with me, we deny your access to this building based on the data we received,

suspected to commit a crime? How would that person feel if the police just randomly show up and

frequently, if artificial neural networks are used as a mean for predictive policing. First, just to
clarify, predictive policing is seeking to prevent futureharm and reduce crimerates by analyzing
information and patrolling areas based on the result. The policeare able to predict when, where, and

People often think that if there s science that supports the systems, it would be accurate.
However, the information the systems take in is not just at all. In order to support my argument,
I want to point out that there are cases where colored people are in a disadvantage for more
likely to be accused even though the white are doing the same thing. For instance, the police has
always targeted more on black people than on white people on trafficking. Because the crimes
that took place in the past are not in favored of black people, there are more cases against them.
Therefore, the systems sort through the data and conclude that black people are more likely to
commit the same type of crime, and suggesting the police put more attention on them. If the read
in information is not bias free, how can the prediction be just to everyone? My second argument
is that neural networks violate people s privacy when they collect information from social media
or any other means without their consent. Although some predictive policing software only allow
the police to predict the type, time, and location of a crime, other police systems are used without
protecting people s right for privacy. Our data, posts, information, and pictures are being looked

How to Make Delicious Tacos
Tacos are known to be a classic dish that is part of the Mexican cuisine. It is one the easiest dishes
to make when it comes to preparing any type of Mexican meal. If they are done correctly, they
are simple, quick, and delicious, and just as easy as learning how to make a sandwich. To be
prepared to make your delicious tacos, you will need the following: a pound of ground beef, taco
seasoning, taco shells (soft or hard), sour cream, taco sauce, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, an onion
and shredded cheese. Most of these ingredients are to be used at your preference, and may be
substituted for something else, if you choose to.

CATRIN
======
Gillian Clarke s Catrin tackles one of the well considered themes in feminist writing the mother
daughter relationship. The aspect of the relationship that Clarke explores here is the bond ( rope )
that ties them together and from which they try to free themselves from the very beginning, even
before birth. Freeing yourself as an individual within a relationship must result in conflict on both
sides, which is what the mother and daughter in Catrin are experiencing now. The question we ask
ourselves here is, when does the struggle begin?

The real or literal meaning of the metaphor is that each participant in the confrontation wanted her
own way. Their actions were shouting.
A tank reminds us of a fish tank, and of the idea that it contains everything to do with its occupants.
In the speaker s case, the tank contains and holds in complete focus the confrontation, which the
participants neither won nor lost.

need for autonomy.

A Research Project On Project Management
Project Management project methodology is an entirely characterized blend of consistently related
practices, strategies and procedures that decide how best to arrange, create, control and convey an
undertaking all through the constant execution process until effective consummation and end. It is
a scientifically proven, methodical and restrained way to deal with project design, execution and
fulfillment. Agile methodology is for a task that needs great deftness in necessities. The key
components of Agile are its short termed conveyance cycles (sprints), Agile necessities, dynamic
group society, less prohibitive task control and concentrate on real time communication. Iterative
methodology is a method for separating the product improvement of a substantial application into
little chunks. In iterative improvement, feature code is composed, created and tested in many
different cycles. With every cycle, extra components can be planned, created and tested until there
is a completely practical programming application prepared to be sent to clients. Waterfall
methodology is the one that is the most utilized over all businesses, and it is exceptionally basic in
programming advancement and development. There are numerous variants of the waterfall
technique, yet the original one included these high level stages: Requirements specification,
Design, Construction (AKA or coding), Integration, Testing and debugging (AKA Validation),
Installation, and Maintenance. Agile offers a

Comparison Between Remember And Stop All Of The Clocks
Each individual has a unique way of coping with death, and this is evident throughout Christina
Rossetti s, Remember and W. H. Auden s Stop all of the Clocks . In the first stanza of
Remember , Rossetti allows the reader to explore the narrator s thought about death. When she
writes ......Gone far away into the silent land;/ When you can no more hold me by the hand....
the narrator believes that death is final because that connection cannot ever be re established
regardless of how much one wants it. The silent land and gone away are metaphors for death,
and when the narrator says that no one will be able to hold me (her) by the hand , this
symbolises the one thing death takes, the physical presence of the person. Likewise, Auden s
Stop all of the Clocks , explores death with imperatives. Auden writes Stop all the clocks, cut off
the telephone,/ Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,/ Silence the pianos and with
muffled drum/Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Because the narrator wants life to
cease, because with the death of their loved one, there is no purpose in life and it simply cannot
(........) . Similarly, as Stop all of the Clocks develops the narrator metaphorically and
onomatopoeically highlights that everything in life must acknowledge the death and experience it
with him. Outward signs of cotton gloves and bows with doves is a metaphor for the person s
acknowledgement of death. The importance of the deceased love extends to every facet of the
narrator s life because they belonged in every moment that the narrator lived. In this moment of
grief, the narrator feels betrayed because they invested in a love which was not eternal.... Show

The Importance Of The Film Inception
Planning and shooting play key roles in creating a work of art through film that has meaning and
can provoke emotions in an audience. Cinematography encompasses these tasks and other factors
that contribute to a film s production, ranging from styling variables like color and contrast to the
types of camera lenses used to camera positions used while filming. While a director or producer
has the primary voice in determining what a filmwill consist of, the cinematographerdoes more than
any other person working on the film to mold a director s vision into reality. These individuals
have the crucial task of creating and framing every visual that will appear in a movie.
There are few cinematographers who do this in as compelling of a way as the cinematographer for
the film Inception, Wally Pfister. Pfister has worked on many notable films and has been
nominated for several awards, but he won his Academy Award for Best Cinematographyfor the
2010 film.
Despite the controversy and debate that surround the film, one can easily see the merits of the
film s cinematography that earned Inception the Oscar. The film contains visual elements that
leave the audience in awe, as it takes the viewer into a dream world that has not been explored by
many other big motion pictures. The dream sequences we observe are in every way larger than
life, yet the cinematography makes them also seem tangible to the viewer. In the scene of the
dream sequence that takes place in Paris, Cobb (Leonardo

An Analysis Of The Torso Of Aphrodite
During my visit to the Tampa Museum of Art, I observed and viewed various pieces from The
Classical World exhibit. While I observed numerous works, I was drawn to a specific piece due
to its uniqueness when compared to the other pieces in the exhibit. In this paper, I will be
describing The Torso of Aphrodite, using my own viewpoints and the elements of formal art
analysis, in order to explain the uniqueness when compared to other pieces in The Classical World
exhibit.
The Torso of Aphrodite was constructed in the 1st century A.D. and is made entirely of marble.
The torso used to belong to a life sized version statue of The Greek goddess of love Aphrodite. From
the moment I saw this piece, I knew I was attracted to it in a deeper way. It ... Show more content on

As the robe simultaneously conceals and reveals, it blends nicely into the lower part of her torso.
Her body is proportioned smoothly, with no areas of obvious fault or imperfection. I think having
those sensual characteristics adds to her overall beauty.
This sculpture is comprised of marble, and due to its large size it was easier for me to develop
an impression about the piece because I can focus on specific parts in more detail. To understand
the piece, a very visual and detailed perspective is needed. Judging by the way the thighs are
represented, it appears as though she is striking a contrapposto pose, which makes her appear
static. She has most of her weight shifted on her left leg, but not all of it The focal point of this
piece I believe is her robe. It skillfully falls down her left side, while leaving other parts exposed,
drawing the main attention of this piece. Few different types of shapes are displayed, except the
shape of her legs and the form of the robe. The physical texture was smooth throughout the entire
piece, partly due to the material it is made of. There is only this one texture, as her robe and body
parts all feel the same.
The title of this piece is Torso of Aphrodite/Venus . This piece was discovered outside of Rome in
1771. Afterwards, it was purchased by a wealthy English collector, who displayed it in his home.
Today, the piece resides at the

Chronicle Of A Death Foretold Analysis
Chronicle of a Death Foretold: Termination Through Tradition Tradition typically serves as the
heart of societal and cultural health. In the case of Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez s novella Chronicle
of a Death Foretold, this could not be further from the truth. The story depicts a scandal between a
scantily married woman named Angela Vicario who reveals to her groom Bayardo San RomГЎn
that she has already been deflowered. Following the tradition in this town, she is returned to her
mother for a beating. Angela s twin brothers are told that the culprit is Santiago Nasar, a rich
townsman, and the brothers, again following the rules of the town, set out to murder him. Although
the brothers do not want to complete the task, the people who know about the plan, namely
everyone in the town, fails to intervene. MГЎrquez s judgement about harmful traditions slowly
exposes itself through the careful and disordered irony of the text to show how a ritualized
society defaces the purpose of honor. Soon after Bayardo and Angela s wedding, the bishop, an
important figure to the town, seemingly makes an appearance: What happened, according to her,
was that the boat whistle let off a shower of compressed steam as it passed by the docks, and it
soaked those who were closest to the edge. It was a fleeting illusion: the bishop began to make the
sign of the cross in the air opposite the crowd on the pier, and he kept on doing it mechanically
afterwards, without malice or inspiration, until the boat

ALTHOUGH it is easy to award older and more classic movies with a badge of honor, there are
numerous recent films that deserve praise. CURRENTLY, animationstudio Pixar is the champion
of this category. In the face of outstanding animated works such as Finding Nemo, Toy Story,
Wall E, Inside Out, Up, and countless short films, most other animated movies pale BY
COMPARISION. YET one film is strangely absent Forrest Gump. One cannot open up a
discussion about great movies and not mention Forrest Gump, and though it may not be the best

Ed Zwick’s Glory
Ed Zwick s Glory An Exemplary Model for Historical Films
History, I am convinced, is not just something to be left to the historians. Warren Susman
[1] From a critic s point of view, what is there not to scrutinize when a white, Jewish filmmaker is
responsible for a historical film about African Americans during the Civil War? One which
happens to have a brave young Boston Brahmin as the supposed leader of a colored battalion?
Surely he does not have the license to create a film based on a heritage with which he has no
affinity. Director Ed Zwick was apprehensive with the task and struggled with his entitlement to
create such a film.

The critic does point out that Glory is by no means flawless, citing historical discrepancies;
nevertheless, a sound approval is given.
[3] From a supportive angle, Morgan Freeman, an academy award nominee black actor, fully
backs every aspect of the project. Freeman was not only ecstatic about the idea for the film, but he
also defended Zwick and screenwriter Kevin Jarre from criticisms about the film s alleged
whiteness. In rebuttal to a charge by Roger Ebert that Glory concentrates too much on the white
point of view, Freeman claimed:
I don t have a problem with that. You cannot reasonably ask a white writer to do it differently.
Now, if we re going to start citing some unfortunates, it might be unfortunate that a black writer
didn t write it, but if a black writer had written it, there s a good chance he wouldn t have found a
producer. So there you are. This is a movie that did get made, and a story did get told, and that s
what is important.
Reportedly, Freeman was so adamant about the film s script that he approached Zwick in the
auditioning stages, pleading, Whatever you want, you ve got me. Moreover, he and co star Denzel
Washington (1989, Best Supporting Actor, Glory) took significant pay cuts to make the film a
success for the sake of art and history.

Brief therapy helps people by focusing on solutions, instead of problems. The therapist asks

Furthermore, Selekman believed there are assumptions that benefit those who deal with resistant
adolescents and their families. The assumptions are extremely practical and provide therapists a
new lens for viewing the tough adolescent case. Each of the guiding assumptions provides a
wellness perspective on adolescent problems, families, and brief therapy. Matching our treatment to
the state of change will foster a cooperative relationship. Therapists must specify the level of the
change. That is the key to adolescent resistance. Next positive relabeling can describe a withdrawn

Successively, Selekman explains that fostering therapist client cooperation is purposive use of self

Humor can help generate a relaxed atmosphere, influence the client from his or her concerns, and

The Effects Of Pre Trial Release Programs
Pre Trial Release Programs lets individuals be released prior to trial with conditions. Some of
these conditions are that you have to pay cash, wear an ankle bracelet while being on house
arrest, be alcohol/drug tested, or even be watched/monitored. Pretrial release programs can be
denied for capital offenses. The law allows release on personal recognizance of an unsecured
appearance bond. Common conditions: commercial surety, cash deposit, property bond, other
secured bonds, supervision and additional requirements . (http://www.ncsl.org/research/civil and

defendant eligible for release. A minimum of 500 dollars bond is required for failure to appear
while on pretrial release. There are several different options that judicial officials have at the
disposal when setting a defendants pretrial release conditions five basic conditions that a judge
or magistrate may set, NC statute lists them in 15A 534(a). There is the first one which is the
release on written promise to appear. This option basically allows the defendant to be released
without paying any type of bond, as long as he promises to appear in court on his written court
date. The second option is to release the defendant upon his execution of an unsecured appearance
bond. An unsecured bond is one that is backed only by the integrity of the defendant. No assets or

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Taylor Swift s Song Blank Space
In musical superstar Taylor Swift s music video for her song Blank Space, she is portraying

speaker of this text is the media s perception of Taylor Swift and her message is about the
disconnect between who Swift really is and who the media sees her as. I believe Swift has two
purposes for this music video. One is for her character in the music video to warn her audience
about the type of love that boys want, and the other for real life Taylor herself to poke holes into
the media s concept of her love life. The video is filled with satire and paradoxes to convince us

Pathogen And Biological Agent That Causes Disease
There is no such thing as a perfect pathogen. Discuss
A pathogen can be defined as a microorganism or a biological agent that causes disease. Pathogen
s sole aim is to replicate and produce progeny to pass its genes on to; therefore the notion of a
perfect pathogen would be an organism that has the capacity to carry out this task. The major
classes of infectious agents are bacteria, virus, protozoa, fungi and even prions (Albert B, 2002) .
In order to be considered perfect a pathogen would have to possess many characteristic such as
being highly contagious, rapidly shed, evoking limited immunity, constantly evolving and only
moderately virulent, allowing most of the infect to recover, which means a larger pool of
susceptible host (J.Hall, 2012). The host immune system protects us from most infection. However
pathogens must overcome this in order to survive, and they have developed many adaptations to
achieve this.
The first ordeal that a pathogen must overcome biochemical and physical barriers that operates at
the body surface such as the skin in order to gain entry. The skin is normally impermeable to
majority of the pathogen and the mucosal layer also provides a barrier (Richard V Goering, 2008).
Virus and bacteria can break through the first line defence in many ways such as through openings
of the ears, mouth or nose. Wounds, abrasion are also sites of entry as they are an opening in the
barrier many virulent pathogens utilise this including streptococci, Leptospira

The Genealogy Of Morals By Friedrich Nietzsche Essay
PHIL 2030 Final Essay
Alex Vanden Heuvel, Professor Lay, Fall Semester 2016
Responding to Prompt 1
On the Genealogy of Morals by Friedrich Nietzsche is typically listed as one of the most
important philosophical works of the modern era. It is only modern, of course, to philosophical
standards, being a mere 129 years old. It is also one of the most controversial works of its time,
having the dubious distinction of being connected to Nazi ideology; it also has a not very subtle
racist, sexist, and Darwinist bent that is a reflection of Nietzsche himself. That being said, I think
that it is also serially misunderstood. Nietzsche directly mentions the role of interpretation in ethical
discourse in the Genealogy, and the interpretive element factors heavily into one s understanding of
the polemic and by extension, ethics philosophy as a whole. Throughout the book, Nietzsche uses
interpretation as a tool in itself to make a constructivist and existentialist argument about the history
of ethics as whole. His idea that man has used interpretation throughout history, and the interpretive
elements in Genealogy outside of the historical analysis, seem to say that almost all ethics are
derived from interpretation and therefore constructivist in nature, which is a heavily existentialist
argument. For example, the entirety of the first essay is based heavily upon the role of
interpretation in the development of the early ethical systems that Nietzsche argues are built on the

The First Amendment, granting Americans the right to freedom of press, freedom of speech,

of the most heavily debated since its ratification in 1791. For years, court cases pertaining to the

A federal court ruled that online services were simply distributors and therefore not liable for any
information posted on their servers (Cubby, Inc. v. CompuServe, Inc.). This set precedent for online
libel for years to come. A 1995 case, Stratton Oakmont, Inc. v. Prodigy, had a different outcome for
internet service providers. Prodigy hosted a Money Talk bulletin board open for user comment, and
on that board, a user alleged that Stratton Oakmont, Inc. and its president had committed criminal

that Prodigy was a publisher and therefore liable. The plaintiff argued that this case was different

The case of Tyler Clementi is a clear example of bullying.
Feldman (2012) has noted that male adolescents are five times more likely to commit suicide than
females, although females attempt suicide more often than males (P.365). Males use more lethal
methods than females. Adolescent males use firearms, hanging, or jumping from height as method
of suicide while females tend to commit suicide by overdosing on drugs and cutting themselves.
Parents who own guns at home must unload, lock, and keep this item out of adolescent reach as a
preventive action. Parents must also control all prescription drugs in the house because it is easy
access for teenagers to harm themselves.
Occasionally, some people try to kill themselves just by putting their lives in danger, and they use
self destructive behavior. Some behavior are drugs and alcohol abuse, overeating, self starvation,

actions can lead to injury or loss of life.

drama progresses, these characters reveal to be dynamic and round. Bill and Betty are motivated to
accomplish their goal. The characters goals, motivation, and type will describe the characters. Both
characters wish to accomplish something. Betty s wishes to be left alone and resists Bills advances.
Evidence of this is displayed through the characters dialogue and actions. The dialogue that reveals
the most about Betty s wish to be left alone can be found on page 1190. BETTY. Maybe you re
only interested for the sake of making small talk long enough to ask me back at your place to
listen to some music, or because you ve just rented this great tape for your VCR, or because you
ve got some terrific unknown Django Reinhardt record, only all you want to do is fuck which you
don t do very well after which you ll go into the bathroom and pee very loudly, then pad into the
kitchen and get yourself a beer from the refrigerator without asking me whether I d like anything,...

Betty warms up to Bill and Bill continues to persevere. Betty first shows coldness in her
dialogues but later converses with him in a warmer way. For example, in the beginning she will
tell bill the seat was taken or let him sit then just ignore him (Ives, 1187 1188). Bill on the other
had would continue after every ring to start a positive a positive conversation, even though it
may not always turn out positive he always tries different tactics. A negative tactic was when he
tried to hit on her and instead spurred her anger or annoyance (Ives, 1190). A positive tactic was
when he spoke of safe subject such as what kind of book she was reading (Ives, 1188 1189). They

Metropolitan Museum Of Art
For this assignment, I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This museum
has many magnificent pieces of art from all over the world. It also offers many programs for
students of all ages and for all different types of educational experiences. There are many ideas and
ways that a trip to this museum can be incorporated in a global history classroom. The Metropolitan
Museum of Artoffers many programs for students from Kindergarten to High School. The museum
offers courses for students and adults that study and examine art in different time periods. They are
taught by specialists and each sessions examines a specific geographic area. They also offer
workshops for teens that allow them to be involved in the curriculum by... Show more content on

The Metropolitan Museum of Art displays a beautiful display of Ancient Egyptian art. I can use
differentiated instruction while allowing my students to analyze art from different time periods.
As a teacher I can try to incorporate a field trip to this museum as it will be beneficial for all
types of learners. A field trip to this museum would be great for middle school and high school
students. Before the trip, I can provide my students with information about the time period in
which we are studying. This may include a power point and reading from our class textbook. I
can also show a video which gives insight to the time period and art. I can also provide them with
a list of key terms to understand that will help them during our museum trip. I would also provide
a list of questions that can serve as a guide during our visit to the museum. Visiting the museum
will be beneficial to auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners. For auditory learners there are
guided tours where you can listen to information about the artwork as well as read the information
on the piece of artwork. For visual learners viewing and analyzing the art can help them learn about
the time period. It will also benefit kinesthetic learners who get a hands on approach to learning
more about a time period. I would ask all students to take notes on the trip and write down the
names of the art they were most impressed

Analysis Of Thomson s Argument Of Determining The...
Through the words of Thomson, the argument of determining the implementation of life exists.
Thomson examines the conflict between practicality and impracticality. Practicality stands on
empiricism where science based beliefs as factual concrete information structures the overall
argument of pro choice. Impracticality stands on faith where it could be argued that religious
based knowledge serves as concrete information to defend pre life. In my essay I will argue
Thomson s claim of the special cases in which abortionis acceptable and challenge the morality of
deciding the fate of a human life who does now have a voice of input.
Thomson begins her argument by discussing when life begins. There are two theoretical ideas of
how an individual

Interracial Marriage Analysis
In the two articles Children of Interracial Marriage written by Glenn Collins and Upbeat
Interracial Ad for Old Navy Leads to Backlash. Twice. by Richard Perez Pena, there is a very
solid link of a society and how it interacts with interracial families. Starting off her article with a
hearty what about the children? , Collins grabs the reader s attention immediately before delving
into what research and respected field experts have to say on the matter of interracial families and
children (Collins 1984). Likewise, Perez Pena immediately jumps into describing the social media
outrage that erupted on the internet after a seemingly innocent ad was featured by Old Navy
(Perez Pena 2016). Both articles were based on interracial couples and... Show more content on

Twice, there is more of a focus on the responses and reactions of the general public. As many may
be aware, there was an out lash on social media websites, such as Twitter and Facebook, over this
ad that featured a cheerful interracial couple and their children. The whimsical, laughing family
seemed innocent enough, but there was a clear revolt among the more bigoted communities. This
lead to a powerful reaction from interracial couples and families who took the rejection of the ad
personally. In turn, they posted their own photos of their families to protest the racism and supposed
white discrimination that many complained of. This was a very important event because it
brought the topic of interracial couples into the spotlight of the media and it was clear that there
was a very steady divide between those who accepted and disapproved. While this wasn t
necessarily a poll or a census, there was a very clear message that could be concluded from the
Twitter war (Perez Pena

Essay On Kevin Salmon
Kevin Salmon is a Sous Chef at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, a Sous Chef is the second
highest position a person can have in a kitchen, the position being under an Executive Chef most
directly compares to an Assistant Manager. For lack of information about Kevin s regular
schedule we are going to base this day off of one preparing for a convention, which he does on a
fairly regular basis, so it is pretty accurate. Kevin would most likely get to work at 8 in the
morning, when he arrived he would walk around the kitchen make sure everything is all ready for
the day and that his staff is getting started. Once he has done that he would probably have a
meeting with the Executive Chefand a few other people, other high up kitchen staff and the people
who are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being that this is such a long and tedious step, everyone including Kevin will be putting in 12
hour days from 8 am to 8 pm, sometimes even longer just to make sure the event turns out
perfect. That is what a day in the life of Kevin Salmon looks like: long, tiring, and chaotic, so just
because of that this job is definitely not for everyone. To be a chef like Kevin is, you would need
to have extreme passion and dedication towards cooking, because to get to the place that he is at
he put in many years of his time and effort, starting at the bottom and working his way up. Kevin
says that I stayed in this field because I fell in love with what I do and love how it makes me feel .
He loves the way people light up when they have wonderful food cooked by him and says that

Stereochemical Dependence for dSp
Interestingly, studies from our laboratory and others have demonstrated a stereochemical
dependence for dSp processing by enzymes in ODNs. The first instance of a dSp diastereomer
difference was reported from our laboratory when Klenow Fragment (exo ) was allowed to insert
dATP opposite the isomers for which dSp1 containing ODNs were found to be the more
favorable substrate for insertion and bypass.32 This study was extended to in vivo experiments
by Neeley, et al. to include pol II and pol IV, also showing more favorable bypass kinetics for
dSp1.34 As further evidence for in vivo stereochemical dependency in dSp processing,
Henderson, et al. utilized the restriction endonuclease and postlabeling assay (REAP) to
determine the mutation profiles for dSp1 and dSp2 in Escherichia coli.28 In the sequence context
5 d(GSpA) 3 , they found a strong stereochemical dependence in the relative amounts of dG→dT
and dG→dC transversion mutations for dSp1 and dSp2. In subsequent experiments, Delaney, et
al. showed a somewhat different dependence of mutation profiles on the dSp diastereomers in the
sequence context 5 (TSpG) 3 using the REAP and competitive replication of adduct bypass
assays (CRAB).29,30 An additional observation from our laboratory quantified the digestion
kinetics of dSp isomers in the dinucleotides 5 d(Np[Sp]) 3 (N = A, T, G or C) by nuclease P1 that
showed dSp1 was the kinetically preferred substrate in all sequence combinations.33 Lastly, in

Polygraph Essay
Polygraph The polygraph test is one of the most controversial criminal investigative techniques of
all time. From the initial years of the invention to today, there is not a consensus about the
investigative tool. That is why there are many people for and against the administration of
polygraph tests. Therefore, in order to develop a clear picture of the polygraphtest the history of the
test must be established. Although, there are many sources that have well documented concerns
about the invention, the polygraph test is still around after almost 80 years.
William M. Marston invented the first lie detector around 1917. He claimed to be able to detect

They gave Mr. Coleman the polygraph the morning he was scheduled to be executed. In addition
he had no counsel present and the information from the polygraph examination was never
released. This is morally unacceptable, it is hard enough to be given a polygraph test, but the
morning a person is scheduled to die is absurd. Therefore, it is essential that the interrogator must
analyze the state of mind of the suspect before given the polygraph test. After the primary test to
check the attitude and state of mind of the suspect the polygraph examination moves to the actual
test. The principal purpose of the machine is to measure the different variations of each the
individuals answers the questions. So in order to establish this for each of the suspects Keeler
developed several different techniques to measure their emotional responses to the questions. One
of the approaches that he administered was the Slim Test. (CourtTV.com) The test involves the
polygraph examiner making the suspect pick one card out a deck of cards and put the same card
back in the pile without letting the examiner see it. After the suspect put the card back in the deck
the examiner would show the suspect each card one by one. The examiner them would advise the
suspect to say no to every card that was shown to him. This examiner would then would analyze the
emotional response to each answer given by the suspect. With the information that was collected the
examiner would show

Effects Of Pollution On Mount Everest
Mount Everest is being effected because of climbers. The people are bringing things up to the
mountain, but they are not bringing them back down. Due to the extreme weather conditions on
Everest, the debris stays frozen in place. Some food cans found on Everest even date as far back as
the early 1960s. The effect of the garbage and waste on Mount Everestis pollution and a mountain
of garbage. This is not healthy. Removing greater amounts of waste isn t the only solution to the
problem, though. Climbers and environmentalists have recommended additional methods to combat
Everest s pollution. Mount Everest is dealing with pollution because of climber s leaving their trash
and waste up on Everest.

Climbers don t want to carry the extra weight down, especially when they re already tired. The
people cleaning up for good have cleaned up more than 13 tons of garbage. Several organizations
are now trying to clean up Mount Everest for good. Launched in 2008, Eco Everest Expedition
annually collects piles of debris covering the mountain. Since the expedition s start, climbers have
removed more than 13 tons of garbage from Everest. In 2013, a joint effort by Indian and Nepalese
military personnel resulted in the additional removal of two tons of waste from the mountain. The
people leaving trash leave it because they have a hard time bringing it down the mountain with
them.
Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay meant no harm when they reached the top of Mount
Everest. When Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the top of Mount Everest for the
accomplishment. Sir Edmund Hillary was not necessarily someone people would have expected to
set such a monumental record on Everest. Though Hillary had climbed many mountains before, his
main profession, like that of his father, was beekeeping. But Hillary s drive to climb Mount
Everest was unstoppable. He first took part in an expedition there in 1951 and then was invited to
return for a subsequent expedition in 1953. The goal of that expedition was to reach Everest s
summit. Hillary s climbing partner, Tenzing Norgay, had climbed Mount Everest many times,

American Politics And The United States Congress Essay
Over the last several decades, American politics scholars have sought to understand the causes of
increasing partisanship and polarization in the United States Congress. Since the 1970s, the
ideological positions of the two major U.S. parties, the Democratic and Republican parties, have
widened (Abramowitz and Saunders, 2008; Levendusky; 2010). This ideological divide also
promotes a perception among the American public that Congress has increasingly become
ineffective and polarized to a point where political parties in government no longer compromise on
policy for the good of the country. In recent years, a new concern has arisen regarding unlimited
spending in electionsby outside groups permitted after the U.S. Supreme Court s decision in
Citizens United v. FEC (2010) and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals decision in SpeechNOW.org v.
FEC (2010) (Mann and Corroado, 2014). Both decisions allow unlimited independent expenditures
for political advertisements, ad buys, and other electioneering communications during elections.
Furthermore, there is an increase and heightened unease of outside undisclosed donors, or dark
money, who may have undue influences on political, electoral, and policy outcomes (Mann and
Corroado, 2014; Federal ElectionCommission). Thus, does independent campaign expenditures
spend have detrimental or undue influences on polarization and policy outcomes by promoting
more extreme ideological positions in congressional representation?

Ap Calculus Ab Course Essay
Writer s Statement In my writing, my goal was to portray my experiences with the online AP
Calculus AB course I took last year (sophomore year), in order to demonstrate when I learned
some of the most important lessons in my life. Furthermore, through the use of different parts of
my personal experiences, I also wished to address the different lessons that I learned; hopefully
using the contributions of all of these lessons to arrive at a final lesson. To do this, I decided to
focus on three main parts: giving the reader context and information behind my initial character
/mindset, demonstrating how the AP Calculus AB course influenced that character/mindset, and
showing what I learned from the AP Calculus AB Exam. Moreover, I wanted to have a different
tone in each of these parts, both demonstrating my different feelings as well as portraying very
different aspects of myself . For the first part, I decided that I wanted to have a lighter tone and
focus on how I was excelling at school with ease, because this would contrast clearly with the
next part. For the second part, I decided that I wanted to have a deeper mood while seeming
confused, because this would further show the contrast between the first and second parts, as well
as demonstrating how this truly was the first time I truly learned that lesson. For the third part, I
decided that I wanted to begin with a more positive tone, as I had just learned my lesson, but
transition into the same tone as the previous

  • 2. Analysis Of Toni Morrison s Sula Two young girls, coalescing on a grass laden field while lying on their stomachs, dig a hole in unspoken harmony. A picture of youth and innocence, this scene depicts an innocuous moment which the two girls share as a result of their juvenescence or does it? In Toni Morrison s Sula, this scene, among others, appears at first to be both irrelevant to the novel s underlying theme and out of place with regard to the rest of the plot. Yet, when analyzed further, the literary devices that Morrison uses in these scenes bring readers to a vastly different conclusion. These scenes serve as windows into the mind of Morrison and even into the larger themes present in the text. So, perhaps two girls sharing a seemingly casual experience is not as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like the vasculature of plants shrouded by bark, innocence is shrouded and further internalized as social influence compiles. Thus, Morrison effectively illustrates both the presence of innocence and its inherent definition via careful diction in this scene. Additionally, the scene is illuminating because of the timing in which Morrison introduces the idea of renewed innocence. She chooses to place it directly before one of the most gruesome and chilling events of the novel: the death of Chicken Little. Now, readers could wonder if she is simply juxtaposing two starkly contrasted scenarios for literary effect. But even though the timing could be interpreted solely to as a method of juxtaposition, an ulterior motive becomes apparent when readers inquire why the girls allow Chicken Little to die after illuminating their innocent cores, not before. If the girls had killed Chicken Little before stripping away the bark from the twig, the scene could be perceived as a symbol of internal cleansing and a means of psychologically stripping themselves of guilt. But the scene precedes his drowning, possibly indicating that their ambivalence was catalyzed by their exposed, innocent essence. Morrison portrays such a vastly contradictory portrayal of popularized innocence in an attempt to demonstrate how innocence may not be defined as innocuously as society defines it. However, before stating the another significant element ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Compare Alvin Toffler Sociocultural evolution is the idea that as humans evolve biologically we also evolve socially. This evolution involves technology, religion, and culture. Many theories have arisen about how sociocultural evolution works and how important it is to humankind. Three well known theories have come from Gerhard Lenski, Leslie White, and Alvin Toffler. Their theories may be very different, but they also share some similarities. Looking at these differences and similarities between these three theories will give greater insight to the importance of sociocultural evolution. Understanding this evolution can allow us to better understand where we are going as people and how different societies may be at separate places in the sociocultural progression.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alvin Toffler quoted, To survive, to avert what we have termed future shock, the individual must become infinitely more adaptable and capable than ever before . Everyone must search out totally new ways to anchor ourselves, for all the old roots religion, nation, community, family, or profession are now shaking under the hurricane impact of the accelerative thrust. It is no longer resources that limit decisions; it is the decision that makes the resources. Alvin Toffler is best known for the idea of future shock. He defined future shock as one s personal view that there is too much change in too short a period of time. Alvin Toffler identified three stages in the development of society: agrarian, industrial, and postindustrial. The first stage is when humans invented agriculture. The second stage is when England brought the inventions of machine tools and the steam engine during the Industrial Revolution. The last stage began during the second half of the 20th century, while dealing with inventions of mechanical industry, robotics, and the computer (Fretwell 2015). Alvin Toffler, therefore, knows that the assessment of innovation is outstanding and moves at a faster pace than people see. Innovation has brought out a great deal of information that has made, what is named, as information over load. Alvin Toffler illustrated that development today is pushing progressively when wandered from the limit of the world to remain mindful of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Price Elasticity of Demand and Supply Q. Discuss how a supplier of a product that is currently fashionable might use both of these concepts in making price and output decisions. Price Elasticity of Demand The price elasticity of demand measures the sensitivity of the quantity demanded to price. The price elasticity of demand is the percentage change in quantity demanded brought by a 1 percent change in price. The value of price elasticity of demand for a normal good must always be negative, reflecting the fact that demand curves slope downward because of the inverse relationship of price and quantity. The price elasticity of demand can be an extremely useful piece of information for business firms, nonprofit institutions, and other organizations that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The price elasticity of supply tells us the percentage change in quantity supplied for each percent change in price. The value of price elasticity of supply for a normal good must always be positive, reflecting the fact that supply curves slope upward because of the positive relationship of price and quantity. Similarly as price elasticity of demand, price elasticity of supply can be also an extremely useful piece of information for business firms in deciding how much to produce their products. To see why a business might care about the price elasticity of supply, let s consider how an increase in price might affect a business s total revenue. Since price and quantity have a positive relationship in price elasticity of supply, a higher price will generally mean producing at a higher quantity, so the total revenue will increase. Economists have classified the possible range of values for price elasticity of supply as Inelastic Supply, Unitary Elastic Supply, and Elastic Supply . In the process of helping a supplier of a product that is currently fashionable to decide output decision, we must first identify the classification that the product is in right now as being fashionable . As mentioned earlier, the price elasticity of supply is used to see how sensitive the supply of a good is to a price change. The higher the price elasticity, the more sensitive producers and sellers are to price changes. A very high price elasticity suggests ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first one is called First Love by John Clare How does poet s writing before 1900 use language to write about different types of love? Consider three love poems, two of which must be by the same poet. In this piece of coursework I am going to study three love poems. The first one is called First Love by John Clare; this poem is a very simple, sweet poem about a mans first love of his life. The second is called My Last Duchess by Robert Browning; this poem is about the Duke telling his servant about his last wife, this poem is a poem about obsessive love. Whereas the vocabulary in My Last Duchess is very obsessive, vocabulary in Porphyria s Lover is possessive and also Porphyria s lover is very suspicious of Porphyria. Lake whipped up by the wind , Cold room , and Sullen wind are all examples/indications of the menacing love Porphyria s lover has for Porphyria. Porphyria enters the room and looks like she has come in from a storm, which she has, but Porphyria s lover makes it sound different. Her cloak is dripping . Porphyria s lover once referred to Porphyria as mine, mine , this shows his obsession with Porphyria and shows that he only feels happy when Porphyria is all his. When her own hair murders Porphyria, Porphyria s lover says he has her love all to himself at last. He doesn t feel guilty about what he had done God has not said a word . Secondly, I am going to investigate the sentence structure of all three of the poems. Looking at the sentence structure of First Love , the sentences are very short and simple, I never saw, so sweet a face, as that I stood before but there are aw few complex sentences within the poem They spoke as chords do from the string and blood burnt round my heart . Rhetorical questions are also asked because he wants to find out a lot more about love, as it is his first time in being in love. Are flowers the winters choice? Is loves bed always snow? are only a few examples of rhetorical questions that are in the poem. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

George Shaw s famous quote describes that to achieve, you must change yourself. On May 1944, Elie Wiesel and his family were forced out from his home in Sighet, Romania to live in Auschwitz, Germany. He and his two older sisters survived the holocaust, Elie then wrote his experience in 1960. During the span of the book, Night by Elie Wiesel, the novel demonstrates that traumatic events can change a person drastically. In the beginning, Elie lived with his family in Germany, his mother, his father, and his three siblings. The Germans forced the Jews to hand over their valuables, live in ghettos and finally moving them to concentration camps, including Elie s family. He was disunited from his mother and three siblings, but managed to stay with his father. At first when he entered the camp he was pessimistic and discouraged when he saw the townspeople crying including his father. After, Elie then learned to take care of himself and his father during tragic events, he stuck to his ambitions and values which led him to go through many obstacles , despite the limitations, and be free of the camp of Auschwitz. As he set out Eliezer was an immature and carefree 15 year old who developed into a responsible young adult. Samuel Johnson, English writer and essayist, popular in the 19th century, sums up the reality of modern American politics in such a simple sentence. However, the simple warning, unheeded, has surely stymied and gridlocked American government to such an extent, that even the most diehard believers in democracy are finding the current political environment to be permanently toxic and therefore, hopelessly ineffective. When did it all go wrong? One of the best examples of two political rivals that warred fiercely from 9 5, but liked and respected one another after hours, comes in the friendship of President Ronald Reagan and House Speaker Tip O Neill. Reagan and O Neill disagreed on nearly everything that a politician can include in a platform. Yet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rhetoric used by political leaders is sometimes uncivil because politicians do not consider the consequences of what they say or do before they execute their plans. With this being said, it would be extremely difficult to remedy the incivility of political discourse without damaging the right of free speech granted by the first amendment; however, President Obama s speech in Tucson, Arizona offers sound advice for political leaders, speechmakers, and those who have a wide reaching ... • 8. Analysis Of The Judgement Of Thamus By Neil Postman Neil Postman, a firm protester against technology, begins his argument in The Judgement of Thamus with a parable about a king rejecting an inventor who incorporates writing into their society; the king, Thamus, is steadfast in his belief that writing s future burdens will outweigh its immediate success. Postman argues that technological discoveries change the way we think, manipulating our culture and our understanding of the world. He states that the primary difference between computers and humans is the ability to self learn but what happens when the human race conquers that barrier with technology? Artificial Intelligence is often referred to as the field I would most like to be in by researchers in other sciences (semanticscholar.org). It is not only prominent in subfields like reasoning and logic, but also in precise tasks like playing chess, proving theorems, and diagnosing diseases. The short term benefits of Artificial Intelligence depend on who controls it, while the long term benefits of Artificial Intelligence depend on if we can control it at all. When considering synthetic intelligence, I believe our outlook must be cautiously positive. As Postman suggests, the development of technology has significant advantages and disadvantages. Futurists believe AI will redefine the human world by enabling software s ability to self program and by minimizing the time it takes to solve a challenge. This tale relates the adventures of the archetypal hero, Odysseus. Odysseus long journey home takes him to many different places where he encounters many different monsters and creatures, but there are certain recurrent elements throughout. The most common themes in the Odyssey are forgetfulness, willingness to risk pain for pleasure, and sexual temptation. • 14. Historical And Legal Issues Of Developmental Disabilities... This chapter on Historical and Legal Issues in Developmental Disabilities by James R. Thompson and Michael L. Wehmeyer talked about how people perceived people with intellectual and developmental disabilities over the past few centuries. Intellectual and developmental disabilities have been around for a while and many people have been scrutinized for having disabilities. Early on people with disabilities were treated unfairly or mistreated by other community members. It was not until the late 19th, 20th, and 21st century where people started to help people with disabilities to attempt making a difference. There were many key themes throughout the chapter that I found very interesting, including the way people with disabilities were treated in the early years. People with disabilities were segregated from the rest of the community due to them being different in the middle agesto the 18th century. It came to my attention that people did not have respect for people with disabilities. No one cared to get to know them or help them. It was normal for people to call people with disabilities names, or refer to them as idiots . Countless numbers of people with disabilities or who had mental illnesses were institutionalized. Even though there was many neglectful people in the world, there was also a number of people who started to address the situation and make a difference. Although civilians still needed to work on their terminology referring to people with disabilities. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though this task cannot be detailed in a short document of this length, I will try my best to summarize the process in a simplest possible manner. The assembling of the software components of PC can easily be done by using some of the available online resources. Therefore, I have intentionally excluded those steps to shorten the document. The users of this guide are urged to refer available online videos for additional references concerning this subject and any other information they might need. Customization of a PC can be done just by replacing a single component or multiple components. Whether the customizing is for improving the performance or for replacing a broken component, making a mindset for customizing comes in first place. Considering this, you could be led to believe that men are being poisoned intentionally. A conspiracy, that guarantees we conform to their standards, throughout our lives. Okay, before you dismiss me as a conspiracy theorist, take note that the Soviets were the first to add fluoride to the drinking water, in prisons. They wanted to decrease testosterone levels, and to make prisoners submissive. Considering testosterone is the driving force behind the courage of men, and I seriously doubt the warden had any concern with dental health. Now that you are ready to commit to a lifestyle that allows for the highest possible testosterone levels, what do you do? Detoxify First Detoxifying sounds a lot worse than it really is. There are no enemas, or expensive juicer diets. You just need to consume a form of sulfur, such as MSM, and zeolite. Both zeolite and MSM are fairly inexpensive, and found readily at health and wellness stores. Zeolite is formed when volcanic ash reacts with the surrounding rocks. This mineral has a regular, porous framework that allows filtering, based on size. How would a person react if he/she is suspected to commit a crime? How would that person feel if the police just randomly show up and ask for the intention of whatever that makes him/her suspicious? This is what will happen, frequently, if artificial neural networks are used as a mean for predictive policing. People often think that if there s science that supports the systems, it would be accurate. However, the information the systems take in is not just at all. In order to support my argument, I want to point out that there are cases where colored people are in a disadvantage for more likely to be accused even though the white are doing the same thing. For instance, the police has always targeted more on black people than on white people on trafficking. Because the crimes that took place in the past are not in favored of black people, there are more cases against them. Therefore, the systems sort through the data and conclude that black people are more likely to commit the same type of crime, and suggesting the police put more attention on them. If the read in information is not bias free, how can the prediction be just to everyone? My second argument is that neural networks violate people s privacy when they collect information from social media or any other means without their consent. Although some predictive policing software only allow the police to predict the type, time, and location of a crime, other police systems are used without protecting people s right for privacy. Our data, posts, information, and pictures are being looked over by the predictive policing systems without us knowing or agreeing upon it. Therefore, it is not fair for the police to search our ... • 23. Comparison Between Remember And Stop All Of The Clocks Each individual has a unique way of coping with death, and this is evident throughout Christina Rossetti s, Remember and W. H. Auden s Stop all of the Clocks . In the first stanza of Remember , Rossetti allows the reader to explore the narrator s thought about death. When she writes ......Gone far away into the silent land;/ When you can no more hold me by the hand.... the narrator believes that death is final because that connection cannot ever be re established regardless of how much one wants it. The silent land and gone away are metaphors for death, and when the narrator says that no one will be able to hold me (her) by the hand , this symbolises the one thing death takes, the physical presence of the person. Likewise, Auden s Stop all of the Clocks , explores death with imperatives. Auden writes Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,/ Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,/ Silence the pianos and with muffled drum/Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Because the narrator wants life to cease, because with the death of their loved one, there is no purpose in life and it simply cannot (........) . Similarly, as Stop all of the Clocks develops the narrator metaphorically and onomatopoeically highlights that everything in life must acknowledge the death and experience it with him. Outward signs of cotton gloves and bows with doves is a metaphor for the person s acknowledgement of death. The importance of the deceased love extends to every facet of the narrator s life because they belonged in every moment that the narrator lived. In this moment of grief, the narrator feels betrayed because they invested in a love which was not eternal.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cinematography encompasses these tasks and other factors that contribute to a film s production, ranging from styling variables like color and contrast to the types of camera lenses used to camera positions used while filming. While a director or producer has the primary voice in determining what a filmwill consist of, the cinematographerdoes more than any other person working on the film to mold a director s vision into reality. These individuals have the crucial task of creating and framing every visual that will appear in a movie. Pfister has worked on many notable films and has been nominated for several awards, but he won his Academy Award for Best Cinematographyfor the 2010 film. Despite the controversy and debate that surround the film, one can easily see the merits of the film s cinematography that earned Inception the Oscar. In the case of Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez s novella Chronicle of a Death Foretold, this could not be further from the truth. The story depicts a scandal between a scantily married woman named Angela Vicario who reveals to her groom Bayardo San RomГЎn that she has already been deflowered. Following the tradition in this town, she is returned to her mother for a beating. Angela s twin brothers are told that the culprit is Santiago Nasar, a rich townsman, and the brothers, again following the rules of the town, set out to murder him. Although the brothers do not want to complete the task, the people who know about the plan, namely everyone in the town, fails to intervene. MГЎrquez s judgement about harmful traditions slowly exposes itself through the careful and disordered irony of the text to show how a ritualized society defaces the purpose of honor. Soon after Bayardo and Angela s wedding, the bishop, an important figure to the town, seemingly makes an appearance: What happened, according to her, was that the boat whistle let off a shower of compressed steam as it passed by the docks, and it soaked those who were closest to the edge. Pathogen s sole aim is to replicate and produce progeny to pass its genes on to; therefore the notion of a perfect pathogen would be an organism that has the capacity to carry out this task. The major classes of infectious agents are bacteria, virus, protozoa, fungi and even prions (Albert B, 2002) . In order to be considered perfect a pathogen would have to possess many characteristic such as being highly contagious, rapidly shed, evoking limited immunity, constantly evolving and only moderately virulent, allowing most of the infect to recover, which means a larger pool of susceptible host (J.Hall, 2012). The host immune system protects us from most infection. However pathogens must overcome this in order to survive, and they have developed many adaptations to achieve this. The first ordeal that a pathogen must overcome biochemical and physical barriers that operates at the body surface such as the skin in order to gain entry. The skin is normally impermeable to majority of the pathogen and the mucosal layer also provides a barrier (Richard V Goering, 2008). It is also one of the most controversial works of its time, having the dubious distinction of being connected to Nazi ideology; it also has a not very subtle racist, sexist, and Darwinist bent that is a reflection of Nietzsche himself. That being said, I think that it is also serially misunderstood. Nietzsche directly mentions the role of interpretation in ethical discourse in the Genealogy, and the interpretive element factors heavily into one s understanding of the polemic and by extension, ethics philosophy as a whole. Throughout the book, Nietzsche uses interpretation as a tool in itself to make a constructivist and existentialist argument about the history of ethics as whole. His idea that man has used interpretation throughout history, and the interpretive elements in Genealogy outside of the historical analysis, seem to say that almost all ethics are derived from interpretation and therefore constructivist in nature, which is a heavily existentialist argument. For example, the entirety of the first essay is based heavily upon the role of interpretation in the development of the early ethical systems that Nietzsche argues are built on the ... Analysis of “the Man Who Was Thursday” The role of the artist was especially important to Chesterton in 1908 because during that time Britain was booming with unemployed anarchist; Chesterton states in his own novel that An artist disregards all governments, abolishes all conventions. The poet delights in disorder only. (Chesterton, Pg. 8) meaning that a true artist lives free of a government; they are free to create as they please without following rules. The rules simply restrict their creativity and abilities. The role of the artist is a dominant theme in The Man Who Was Thursday, as Chesteron portrays the artist as a spy for the law playing the role of an anarchist in order to uncover a secret society of terroristic anarchismin the noveland in the end the artist... Social Media and the Law The First Amendment, granting Americans the right to freedom of press, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly and freedom to petition the government, has been one of the most heavily debated since its ratification in 1791. For years, court cases pertaining to the amendment have abounded, particularly in relation to the freedom of speech. From cases defining obscenity to those allowing for expression, the meaning of the freedom of speech has changed greatly through the years. Similarly, so has the freedom of press. As technology evolves from the first printing press to Google Glass so too does the media. New media calls for new laws and precedents, and social media has been no exception. The rapid pace and... CompuServe, Inc.). This set precedent for online libel for years to come. A 1995 case, Stratton Oakmont, Inc. v. Prodigy, had a different outcome for internet service providers. Prodigy hosted a Money Talk bulletin board open for user comment, and on that board, a user alleged that Stratton Oakmont, Inc. and its president had committed criminal and fraudulent acts. The company and its president then sued Prodigy for defamation, contending that Prodigy was a publisher and therefore liable. The plaintiff argued that this case was different than Cubby v. CompuServe because Prodigy said on its bulletin board that it exercised editorial control, and the court found this to be true, ruling in favor of Stratton Oakmont, Inc. (Stratton Oakmont, Inc. v. Prodigy). The nation, and Congress, took note of the decision. A year later in 1996, Congress passed the Communications Decency Act (also referred to as the Telecommunications Act). The act changed internet and the First Amendment, and section 230 specifically addressed how interactive computer services were legally regarded. The case of Tyler Clementi is a clear example of bullying. Feldman (2012) has noted that male adolescents are five times more likely to commit suicide than females, although females attempt suicide more often than males (P.365). Males use more lethal methods than females. Adolescent males use firearms, hanging, or jumping from height as method of suicide while females tend to commit suicide by overdosing on drugs and cutting themselves. Parents who own guns at home must unload, lock, and keep this item out of adolescent reach as a preventive action. Parents must also control all prescription drugs in the house because it is easy access for teenagers to harm themselves. Occasionally, some people try to kill themselves just by putting their lives in danger, and they use self destructive behavior. Some behavior are drugs and alcohol abuse, overeating, self starvation, bulimia, smoking, reckless driving, stunts and dares, promiscuity and sexual risk taking, and those actions can lead to injury or loss of life. The whimsical, laughing family seemed innocent enough, but there was a clear revolt among the more bigoted communities. This lead to a powerful reaction from interracial couples and families who took the rejection of the ad personally. In turn, they posted their own photos of their families to protest the racism and supposed white discrimination that many complained of. This was a very important event because it brought the topic of interracial couples into the spotlight of the media and it was clear that there was a very steady divide between those who accepted and disapproved. • 45. Stereochemical Dependence for dSp Interestingly, studies from our laboratory and others have demonstrated a stereochemical dependence for dSp processing by enzymes in ODNs. The first instance of a dSp diastereomer difference was reported from our laboratory when Klenow Fragment (exo ) was allowed to insert dATP opposite the isomers for which dSp1 containing ODNs were found to be the more favorable substrate for insertion and bypass.32 This study was extended to in vivo experiments by Neeley, et al. to include pol II and pol IV, also showing more favorable bypass kinetics for dSp1.34 As further evidence for in vivo stereochemical dependency in dSp processing, Henderson, et al. utilized the restriction endonuclease and postlabeling assay (REAP) to determine the mutation profiles for dSp1 and dSp2 in Escherichia coli.28 In the sequence context 5 d(GSpA) 3 , they found a strong stereochemical dependence in the relative amounts of dGв†’dT and dGв†’dC transversion mutations for dSp1 and dSp2. In subsequent experiments, Delaney, et al. showed a somewhat different dependence of mutation profiles on the dSp diastereomers in the sequence context 5 (TSpG) 3 using the REAP and competitive replication of adduct bypass assays (CRAB).29,30 An additional observation from our laboratory quantified the digestion kinetics of dSp isomers in the dinucleotides 5 d(Np[Sp]) 3 (N = A, T, G or C) by nuclease P1 that showed dSp1 was the kinetically preferred substrate in all sequence combinations.33 Lastly, in collaboration ... From the initial years of the invention to today, there is not a consensus about the investigative tool. That is why there are many people for and against the administration of polygraph tests. Therefore, in order to develop a clear picture of the polygraphtest the history of the test must be established. Although, there are many sources that have well documented concerns about the invention, the polygraph test is still around after almost 80 years. William M. In addition he had no counsel present and the information from the polygraph examination was never released. This is morally unacceptable, it is hard enough to be given a polygraph test, but the morning a person is scheduled to die is absurd. Therefore, it is essential that the interrogator must analyze the state of mind of the suspect before given the polygraph test. After the primary test to check the attitude and state of mind of the suspect the polygraph examination moves to the actual test. The principal purpose of the machine is to measure the different variations of each the individuals answers the questions. So in order to establish this for each of the suspects Keeler developed several different techniques to measure their emotional responses to the questions. One of the approaches that he administered was the Slim Test. After the suspect put the card back in the deck the examiner would show the suspect each card one by one. The examiner them would advise the suspect to say no to every card that was shown to him. • 48. American Politics And The United States Congress Essay Over the last several decades, American politics scholars have sought to understand the causes of increasing partisanship and polarization in the United States Congress. Since the 1970s, the ideological positions of the two major U.S. parties, the Democratic and Republican parties, have widened (Abramowitz and Saunders, 2008; Levendusky; 2010). This ideological divide also promotes a perception among the American public that Congress has increasingly become ineffective and polarized to a point where political parties in government no longer compromise on policy for the good of the country. In recent years, a new concern has arisen regarding unlimited spending in electionsby outside groups permitted after the U.S. Supreme Court s decision in Citizens United v. FEC (2010) and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals decision in SpeechNOW.org v. FEC (2010) (Mann and Corroado, 2014). Both decisions allow unlimited independent expenditures for political advertisements, ad buys, and other electioneering communications during elections. Furthermore, there is an increase and heightened unease of outside undisclosed donors, or dark money, who may have undue influences on political, electoral, and policy outcomes (Mann and Corroado, 2014; Federal ElectionCommission). Ap Calculus Ab Course Essay Writer s Statement In my writing, my goal was to portray my experiences with the online AP Calculus AB course I took last year (sophomore year), in order to demonstrate when I learned some of the most important lessons in my life. Furthermore, through the use of different parts of my personal experiences, I also wished to address the different lessons that I learned; hopefully using the contributions of all of these lessons to arrive at a final lesson. To do this, I decided to focus on three main parts: giving the reader context and information behind my initial character /mindset, demonstrating how the AP Calculus AB course influenced that character/mindset, and showing what I learned from the AP Calculus AB Exam. Moreover, I wanted to have a different tone in each of these parts, both demonstrating my different feelings as well as portraying very different aspects of myself . For the first part, I decided that I wanted to have a lighter tone and focus on how I was excelling at school with ease, because this would contrast clearly with the next part. For the second part, I decided that I wanted to have a deeper mood while seeming confused, because this would further show the contrast between the first and second parts, as well as demonstrating how this truly was the first time I truly learned that lesson. For the third part, I decided that I wanted to begin with a more positive tone, as I had just learned my lesson, but transition into the same tone as the previous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
