How to Enhance Influence and Collaboration with an Executive MindsetCurt Buermeyer
Many people fail to move into higher levels of leadership because they have not adapted to the next-level thinking. Having an "executive mindset" is key to success at higher levels of leadership. This presentation highlights the strategies to develop an executive mindset.
Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to identify, assess, and control the emotions of oneself, of others, and of groups. Participants in this workshop will get a general introduction to what emotional intelligence and EQ are quickly followed by hands-on work group exercises. Attendees will gain a greater understanding of themselves and practical exercise experience on dealing with emotions in the workplace.

In this session, we show some empathy for engineers - and also show those with the engineering mindset how they can demonstrate empathy for others. From Agile 2016 conference.
Talk by Sue Johnston and Declan Whelan at Agile & Beyond, Ypsilanti, MI, May 5, 2016
The stereotype of engineers and technical professionals as inarticulate, socially inept geniuses inventing problems to solve is not just unkind. It's inaccurate. (OK, maybe not the "genius" part.) Yet the Dilbert image persists. So do jokes like the one about the engineer sentenced to death on the guillotine, who watches the instrument of death malfunction, then tells the operators how to fix it. In this interactive session, we'll show a little empathy for engineers and other analytical folk whose neurological wiring makes them seem different from the rest of humanity. We'll also explore how those with the engineering mindset can consciously adopt behaviours that amplify their value to their teams and organizations - and make their lives easier by positioning themselves for understanding. The analytical mind is particularly valuable when we can turn it off and adopt the perspective of the person we're talking with. Technical professionals are excellent at finding solutions to problems. Unfortunately, searching for the perfect solution to the interesting problem we see can prevent us from seeing other problems that stand in the way of value for others. True collaboration and value creation invite us to see through the lenses of end users and sponsors and help them connect the dots. In this interactive presentation, you will discover: - how to make your ideas meaningful to others by taking their perspective - how shifting your language from "What?" to "So What?" helps people connect your dots - why giving up the need to be smart may be the smartest thing you ever do Join Declan, a professional engineer and developer, and Sue, a communication coach, in a lively discussion of what can happen when engineers and technical professionals shift their mindset from solving problems to creating impact.

A Guide to Performance Improvement PlansKristen Zuck
This is a condensed presentation I gave internally regarding our Performance Improvement Process with Happiness Engineers (Customer Support Professionals). It covers what Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) is for, not for, the steps involved, and my tips for running a successful plan with your team member. These plans are not a punishment, and are intended to help a team member succeed long term. By understanding the process fully you are better prepared to help yourself and your team member throughout the process.
Effective delegation is a critical function in the overall leadership and organizational management context. Here is a brief presentation on the art and process of delegation.
Time is precious and can not be earned. The importance of time need not be explained and when we are in a teaching profession where the concerns as well as the constraints are very demanding, we need to meticulously plan every bit of a moment..... Lets understand, How????

You Caught Me Monologuing: Effective Communications in SecurityPhilip Beyer
Are you achieving successful, repeatable results with your security program? How do you, your boss, and your organization each define success in security? Can you make it all work without burning yourself and your team out?
Information security professionals are not known for their “soft skills”, so let’s discuss some practical guidance for Blue Teams who want to improve the quality of their work and efficiency of their communication.
Have you ever wondered why the latest productivity tips never seem to work for you? Are you mystified by your office neighbor’s neat desk? (Or maybe you’re the one with the neat desk and can’t understand why everyone else is such a slob!) Maybe you need to understand your personality and work style before you can be at your most productive. Most productivity tips take a one-size-fits-all approach, but people aren’t like that. This session will look at how your personality affects your work style and how you can take advantage of your unique strengths to be more effective at your job. We’ll also discuss ways different personalities can work together. We’ll talk a little about some productivity tools and software but the main focus is on understanding your work style.

Generating a custom Ruby SDK for your web service or Rails API using Smithyg2nightmarescribd
Have you ever wanted a Ruby client API to communicate with your web service? Smithy is a protocol-agnostic language for defining services and SDKs. Smithy Ruby is an implementation of Smithy that generates a Ruby SDK using a Smithy model. In this talk, we will explore Smithy and Smithy Ruby to learn how to generate custom feature-rich SDKs that can communicate with any web service, such as a Rails JSON API.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
